Lovely welcoming site in great location - fabulous coast walks, beaches & scenery.
Stayed in one of the camping fields - sheltered, plenty of space.
Facilities are spotlessly clean, hot water in plentiful supply with a well stocked shop.
We've stayed here before and will certainly return again - a wonderful spot.
The only reason that we haven't commented on child friendly is that we didn't pack one :) But there is a playground & lots to do in the area.

Wonderful site in a stunning area. Owners are so friendly and when we got stuck in mud on arrival in the dark, they were there to jack us up and get us out. Can't ask more than that. Shop is great with everything you could need, and pitch sizes good too. Good dog walking through nearby field and motorhome facilities excellent. Chippy in Scurlage is closed off season which caught us out! Will definitely be back.

Right from booking Pitton Cross was friendly and welcoming. Staff were very friendly. Weather (I know - November) was very windy at night but most days was fine - fantastic views!
We booked on an 'over 50s' deal and it was excellent value for money. The campsite was clean and smart. Teh toilet/shower facilities were clean. Showers for me are sometimes a problem - I am quite small and some showers are situated so high that I have to move around to get wet! The showerheads at Pitton Cross were all at different heights - fantastic. The showers are designed to that you have a small clothes storage area within the cubicle. Very well thought out. The water was always hot!
The dishwashing and laundry facilities were clean and adequate.
The downside was that we had to drive anywhere for a meal or to the pub. Saying that - I wouldn't like a 'clubhouse' as we like it to be quiet and peaceful. We went for lovely walks down to the beach close by.
All in all we loved it and will be back.

Pitton Cross is a nice quiet campsites with lovely sea view but the grass and hedges needed a good cut. There is a shop on site selling necessities and the woman on reception was very helpful and friendly. There are plenty of toilets and showers, all clean and tidy and lots of hot water. The only downside for us was that there are no other shops or pubs nearby, everywhere is at least a 30 min walk or you have to drive. The surrounding area is gorgeous with nearby beaches at Rhossili Bay or Mewslade.

Large pitches, (not enough electric pitches though) the site was only approx a third full but the no vacancies sign was up. They obviously like to keep the site un-crowded which is nice. Be prepared for a trek to the toilets/showers - they are by the park entrance (3 or 4 fields away depending where your pitch is!)and not the cleanest or most modern and unless you have electric hook-up you can forget about drying your hair - there is one useless and ancient hairdryer in the ladies which costs 20p a go (it took 4 goes to get my hair even half way dry! This site is very remote with no facilities other than a small play area for children, so be prepared to drive everywhere, the nearest pub is 2 miles away along an unlit busy road - definitely do not try this with children or a baby buggy or you will be taking your lives in your hands! That said you are right on the coast path so if you like long coastal walks this site will suit you as the scenery is breath-taking. There is a small shop on site for basics (they offer ice pack exchange for 20p each plus £1 deposit) but you will be hard pushed to find any shops for miles apart from a small village shop and chip shop in Scurlage. Probably wouldn't return to this site.

This is our regular annual campsite and we really love it. Staff are pleasant and welcoming and run a well stocked shop for basics and a few fun things and kites. Local shopping can be a bit hit and miss but is better in main season at Scurlage and Knelston Garage. Good chippy at Scurlage.
The site is flat and divided up into smaller areas with sheltering hedges, many pitches have hook ups and there are grass and hard standings. Some have sea views but these can be a bit windy at times. Generous sized pitches.
There are sufficient loos and showers though the men's are less well equipped. Water is always hot. Have read some comments about cleaning in loos but my experience has been that the mess is generated by less careful campers and not related to the cleaning staff! There is a baby bathing room, disabled shower room, washing up room and laundry room.
Small children's playground which seems popular and plenty of tracks for cycling and dog-walking.
Local beaches are gorgeous, Rhossilli of course is famous but Mewslade, nearest to site, is lovely, though you have to walk to it and scramble down the last bit, this keeps it uncrowded and unspoilt. Oxwich has large adjacent car park and gentle sloping beach, loos and food kiosks so great for families and paddling.
The Gower is stunning, with lovely walks and scenery, the view from Rhossili Down is amazing (go up the steep way from Rhossili or along the gentler track from Middleton)
Plenty of nice pubs, decent food and wonderful views from the pub/hotel at Rhossili.
Be prepared for always taking longer to get somewhere than you expect because of Gower's narrow winding roads and don't expect any instant entertainment. Gower is pretty unspoilt though archery and birds of prey centre + heritage centre at Parkmill. Further afield recommend Botanical Gardens of Wales, Wildfowl Centre at Llanelli, Mumbles and various Swansea attractions.

This was our first visit to The Gower and were more than impressed with what we found. This site with friendly and attentive staff proved to be a perfect location for us as we investigated this part of the peninsula.
I have to disagree with the previous review in that the toilet blocks are far from 'dated'. Indeed they were particularly clean (with all the urinals in full working order) and the cubicles and fittings looked relatively new to me.
The hard standing sites are level and have grass beside them so that you can easily pitch awnings, and although we didn't have one it's always nice to step out onto grass rather than a hard surface.
With a young family direct access to beaches might be problematic without a short drive however there are plenty of footpaths from the site which lead short distances to the cliff top paths, various coves and beaches, and to Rosilli Down where you get the most fantastic views. We didn't have to use the car for two days as a result.
There is a well stocked information centre next to reception with plenty of leaflets and maps to help you discover the area.
The owner was working hard replacing power cables for the hookups in the lower field so supplies there should be reliable for a few years to come.
And finally, there is an excellent fish and chip shop 3m back down the road, you can't miss it as you drive towards Pitton Cross - well worth a visit at least once during your stay.

We last stayed on this site in 2006, and to honest it does not look like they've spent any money on it since.
The toilet block is very dated, and whilst planning restrictions prevent them from building a new one, they do not prevent the existing block being refurbished. When we were there the urinals were out of order, and looked like they had been for some time.
The hard standings and site roads make the place feel like a building site and are made from ungraded hardcore (including lumps of orange brick.
That said, the welcome is nice, booking in is efficient, the shop is well stocked and excellent walking opportunities are available direct from the site.
The place needs tidying up a little.

Back again to this lovely site, this time with our new tent instead of ancient trailer tent. Roger and family very welcome as usual. Stayed on circle field, nice and quiet although furthest from facilities. Improved drainage very successful on our three torrential days (out of 15). Electric hook ups and hard standings available. Small hedge-lined fields make it nice and sheltered, as this site can be windy and pitches are very generous.
New children's playground was immensely popular, with children there at crack of dawn and up to early evening with torches! Showers always hot and clean considering this was school holidays. Ladies have more showers etc. Than men, my husband would like some hooks for towels and clothes etc. The men's are a bit basic but I know that local regulations don't allow any further development on site.
Good washing up facilities, laundry room, baby bathing room, disabled shower room, waste disposal, recycling and information room with telephone kiosk.
Site has shop providing all the basics and gifts, kites and beach equipment. Local shops at Scurlage and Knelston garage a bit limited, huge Tesco on way in from M4, best to fill up petrol there too.
Beaches are gorgeous, Mewslade reachable from site by foot, Rhossili beach massive and lovely walks over the Down or up to Worms Head. Extensive parking next to the beach at Oxwich. Mumbles fun to visit, also Parkmill, Falconry and Archery and bus into Swansea from outside site.
Good chip shop at Scurlage, restaurant at Rhossili has good food but many village pubs seem to have good reputation. The Gower is a perfect place for walking, beaches, natural beauty and completely unspoilt - just don't expect lots of laid on entertainment!

Stayed here for the 1st week of our summer holidays and we had a lovely time, the pitches are well away from the main road. We had a level pitch and it was peaceful and quiet with a a no noise rule after 10pm. We chose a pitch on the dog free field which was a considerable distance from the toilet block but even though it was fully booked over the bank holiday weekend it was well stocked and clean. The playground was good (kids review) the shop carried a good range of items and the staff were polite and friendly. There are glimpses of the sea from the site and mewslade bay is walkable from the site 1. 5 miles.
I would certainly recommend this site and would visit again.
