Love this site and have returned many times.

Great open, gently sloping, field with a few trees for shade.

Facilities are good with free showers and they are clean and well stocked with loo-roll. The drinking water can turn a strange colour when it has rained heavily but you can always buy bottled water from their well stocked on site shop if you don't fancy it. Plenty of space for kids to play!

Staff are always pleasant and helpful.

Amazing views from the site and some great little (and no doubt larger) walks from the gate. (Our favourite is to Castlerigg Stone Circle) Very peaceful site and their rule of quiet after 10pm is adhered to. The quiet during the day is sometimes broken by the low flying jets which come round the side of the hill and over the campsite! Very exciting but can make you jump! We even saw a Chinook fly over!

There is very good drainage on the site which is needed! On our last night we experienced some horrendous rain and winds which our tent didn't hold up to very well! The little on site cafe was an absolute godsend in the morning! Lovely breakfast served and at a reasonable price too.

Will most definitely continue to return to this site.

Stayed for 3 nights with my son and his friend, site was quiet on tues and wed and had a great time, fantastic views from the site and 30mins walk into Keswick through the woods, climbed blencathra over sharp edge on wed, [its not as hard or scary as all the stories ive been told], site started to fill up on thur and by fri was quite full with lots of dogs on site, toilets and showers very clean 50p for shower, we used 2 every time so a £1 a shower adds up over a few days, On arrival you are told no noise after 10. 30 and we found out they mean it, after fri night in Keswick we got a taxi back to the site and walked back to our tent, I admit we were talking but not very load but sat morning the lady owner drove to our tent in her landrover and told us she had received 2 complaints about noise and that someone had pointed out our tent, we explained that we were talking quietly but she said even talking was not allowed after 10. 30 and asked us to leave, as we were going home anyway we didn't argue but her attitude was terrible, its a lovely site but if you like to go for a drink after a hard days walking or like to sit outside your tent with a fire late in the evening then I would find another site, all they seem to want on site are older people or families with dogs

This is a lovely quiet site. If you are arriving by bus be prepared for a steep climb uphill. No noise at all after 10pm. Excellent if you want to be up early the next morning. The wardens are very helpful. When I cut my thumb, they dressed it for me. Having an allergy to plasters, they bandaged it with lint & insulating tape. It did the trick. Stopped dirt getting into the cut. The wardens went out of their way to help.

As other campers have mentioned, the water is a bit off putting if it has rained. It is a brown colour, presumably this is because of the peat soil. It does clear if it remains dry for a while. If it is really bothersome, there is a huge Boothes supermarket in Keswick which sell bottled water. The facilities were very clean & well stocked. I felt that 50p was a little expensive for the shower. Although it lasted 3. 5 mins. The Crag Bar opposite the campsite does lovely veggie & vegan food. They also sell reasonably priced beer. I haven't as yet tried the on site cafe, but intend to when I next return.

We have just come back from a glorious 9 days at this site and will definitely be going back. We stayed on a grass and hardstanding pitch and the views from our caravan were out of this world. Bassenthwaite, Catbells, Blencathra, Skiddaw, Lord's seat and Walla Crag to name just a few. There is a small shop on site as well as a café, The Hayloft, this was open in the morning while we were there. They do fantastic bacon butties which we took back to the caravan and we can't be the only ones that thought that as they were extremely busy. You do pay for showers but as they are on a private water supply you can understand why they do this. If it has been raining heavily the water does have a slight brown tinge to it but is perfectly safe for drinking, just looks odd! Lovely enclosed dog field and added bonus of a dog shower, there is no charge for dogs either. We paid £19 a night for pitch with ehu, the pitch was large and there is no extra charge for awnings.

The site is approx 5 minutes by car away from Keswick. If you don't want to use your car there is a bus stop just at the end of the lane or you can walk into Keswick from the site or get a taxi (£4 I understand). Do try out the Cornish Pasty shop in Keswick, just be prepared to undo the button on your trousers! The pasty is huge and we only got a medium size. Plenty of fantastic walks from the site and well placed for exploring the north lakes. The owners are so friendly and make you feel very welcome, they want everybody to enjoy their stay there. One site I don't think I would ever get tired of returning to, it's an absolute gem.

Just got back from a pleasant weekend at this site. Managed to pre-book one of the 3 tent pitches with electric (£22 a night) before we arrived. The main camping field is on a slight slope apart from the pitches at the top of the field which is furthest away from the toilet blocks. Parking is next to the pitch in the main field.

The toilet blocks were immaculately clean with plenty of hot water, the showers were 50p a go which is a little pricey for 3. 5 minutes but nice hot water and good pressure.

The wash up area consisted of about 3 sinks which was fine as the site was fairly quiet but could be a wait at busier times.

There are strict rules about noise after 10. 30 am and thankfully they seem to work, we had two very quiet nights.

There was Wi-Fi available at £2 for 24 hours, lot of sites are offering this for free these days.

All in all a good, clean and well managed sites, would certainly re-visit.

We were here 3rd - 5th September. The weather was glorious. Its a lovely site. Caravans pitched around a large grass area. £22. 00 per night. The café on site was closed through the week as it was off season. I had been looking forward to my breakfast there, never mind. We'll come again earlier in the season. Six loo's and 2 showers. 50p for showers for 3. 5 minutes which was long enough to wash my hair and shower. Recycling next to reception. Gates closed 10pm till 8am. Would have liked the gates open a bit earlier. I was ready to go for my paper at 7. 30. BP garage half a mile down the road with a big shop. Booths supermarket in Keswick. Its a huge shop with a café.

We returned home this morning from a fantastic 12 nights stay at Castlerigg Farm. We have stayed in the Lake District many times but never visited the North Lakes and we can clearly say we've thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely visit again.

Our first two nights were spent at Castlerigg Hall but for a family of 4 with a car a tent and our 2 little dogs the cost was £34. 80 and all we could see from the camp field were the surrounding hedges. On walking 50 yards further up the lane we found Castlerigg Farm where for the same amount of people the cost was £25. 00 per night and the views were fantastic. Castlerigg Farm do charge for showers at 50p a time but the showers seemed to last longer than the allotted 3. 5 minutes and we found them powerful and hot. The facilities were lovely and clean and included nicely tiled showers, free hand soap and a very handy tea/coffee machine in the laundry room. The on site shop was open between 8am to 8pm and although the shop was small it seemed to hold an amazing amount of goods at reasonable prices. On several occasions we enjoyed breakfast in the on site Hayloft Cafe, this was a lovely treat and the food was excellent.

The site staff were friendly and knowledgable about local walks and bus and launch time tables. There was a small pub down the lane but the food was fully vegetarian and not very good. Keswick was about a 25 minute walk and a walkers dream if your looking to kit yourself out with clothes.

The campsite is very secure with the gate closing at 10pm but there is a small parking area so visitors can still use their cars. We liked the idea of the 10. 30pm silence rule which Castlerigg Farm has and were thrilled to find this site does means silence so after a long days walk it was a pleasure to be in our tent and not have to listen to chattering neighbours. While we were there we witnessed the Warden walking around the site every night and where necessary very politely asking people to keep their voices down which worked really well.

During our stay we saw a few small groups of youngsters who were doing their Duke of Edinburgh walks, we were pleased to see this because as teachers we know its getting more difficult to find camp sites who support these groups. It was nice to hear the site owner saying these children were the future walkers and campers and many returned to the site in their adult years and as long as they followed the site rules they were welcome. The groups all camped in the same area which was close to the facilities so they wouldn't disturb anyone, just another sign of how well run this site is.

The cherry on the cake for our children was last night when Warwick Davies and is family arrived on site. Even without Warwick Davies we love this site and plan a return visit next year.

We stayed here for 9 nights, two of us with two large dogs in a large tent.

Having read other reviews we thought we would try this site.

First impressions were of the view, it was nothing less than stunning!

Like many campsites in the area, this one is also first come-first serve, unlike some campsites we have stayed in, this campsite managed this well, not overcrowding the site, leaving the occupants the choice of where to pitch.

The owners were friendly enough and helpful with local knowledge.

The site is on a slight slope, but it has many flat areas which we were lucky enough to get.

The price is good for the facilities, bearing in mind that it is a very secure site, gates shutting at 2200, CCTV in operation nearer the toilet block.

The 2230 no noise policy is rigorously adhered to and quite rightly so, we experienced three adults being evicted one morning after being 'noisy' up to 0300 that morning, this was good to see.

The only thing we would have liked to have seen is the 'dogs on leads' policy adhered to and enforced more, lots of dogs, who may be well behaved at home, were running around to their hearts content at points, and at one point, whilst we were feeding ours, came over and started becoming aggressive!

Overall a great site, we certainly will visit again!

Thank you

We spent 2 nights here in August 2013. Our party consisted of 2 adults, 2 children and a toddler. We were charged £25 per night, with no charge for our toddler or car. They did not seem to be too worried about tent size.

I have to admit that we had meant to visit a neighbouring site and came here by mistake, but to be honest we had no real regrets in the end.

Checking in was straightforward and although they do not allocate specific pitches, we were given good directions to where we should camp. The two fields (one of which features hard standing and EHU facilities) seemed to be well drained and the ground was perfect for pitching our tent. We were able to park our car right next to the tent, so no problems carrying gear from a distant car park.

Facilities were fairly modest, but clean, well stocked and more than met our needs. It would be nice to see a children's play area, but there was plenty of space to run around and play without disturbing others. The staff seemed very friendly and helpful.

Prices in the shop seemed pretty good too. Not only that, but although they have a £10 min spend to pay by card, this can be done via cashback, which I thought was an excellent touch, and one that I really appreciated.

This site is very quiet, and they are keen to maintain the peace by enforcing silence between 22:30 and 07:00, which is fine by me.

The location is about 2 miles out of Keswick uphill, but is perfect for visiting the local stone circle and Walla Crag. The view from our tent was amazing!

I would like to see the on-site restaurant open for lunch and/or dinner. We breakfasted at the tent, so I have to admit we did not try it. There is a local pub that serves great vegetarian food next door though. Great real ale too!

This was our first family camping trip, and so I have nothing to compare this site with. However, it seemed like an excellent introduction. I would like to visit some other sites now, but I would have no hesitation about returning here at some point and would recommend it to others.

PROS: Quite a lot of space. Beautiful landscapes - hills and mountains all around.

CONS: Really expensive, approx. 50% more than all the other campsites in UK we have visited, even those with pools, playgrounds etc. Showers 50p per 3 minutes, also the most expensive of all places we've been to. Rained almost all the time - luckily ground was able to accumulate all the water. After reception and shop is closed (quite early) you cannot get coins for showers nowhere so remember to return early or obtain them in advance. Lots of 'NO's all around. As their policy says: 'It is not enough to be quiet after 10. 30pm, absolute silence is required. '

No playgrounds, restaurants etc. Just a small shop, coffe machine, wash machine and tumble dryer.
