September 2004 We had a great time at Castlerigg farm, weather was bad heavy rain but the field didn't bog. Quite cheap also, facilities were excellent also a little drinking den just outside campsite which does smashing grub but get in early as it fills up very fast. All in all we will be going back to Castlerigg farm next year.

August 2004 A very nice campsite with lovely views. Two large fields, plenty of room. Facilities were very good, toilet / shower block clean and of a good standard. You can walk to Keswick through the woods although this is not a flat walk. The only two points we could find fault with was the fact that the sites web page didn't really make it clear that you CAN pre-book for hook-ups but not for standard pitches. Also the showers, although hot and powerful, were 50p and didn't last too long. The water cuts off when your money runs out so if you're lathered up and your time is up and you haven't a spare 50p you could be in trouble!!

July 2004 An excellent site with spotless facilities, a lot more than we expected for a farm site. The views were spectacular and although busy the 10.30pm no noise rule was excellent and the site warden made sure it was upheld. We stayed for 2 weeks, our only gripe was the poor weather but there isn't a lot we can do about that and as the site was high up we were better off than some. The laugh of the holiday was when we heard a fellow camper loudly complaining about the noise, we stopped to listen as we had just commented on how quiet the site was. We had to keep a straight face when the complainer said he hadn't slept for 2 nights because of people snoring. Stupid thing was he was serious and got quite upset when he was informed there wasn't much they could do about snoring. As a family of 4 I have to say we will be paying a return visit snoring and all.

August 2004 Just come back from this lovely campsite and would certainly go again - BUT only at a quieter time! There are two big fields for tents and it's a free-for-all where anyone can erect their tent, so on a busy weekend like this last one, the tents ended up crammed in round the edges where most people seem to prefer to be. No marked out pitches, so inconsiderate campers just pitch up in spaces next to already pitched tents, where there should be a space. (Regulations?) The excellent, clean facilities were seriously overwhelmed at times - notices apologising for possible (read, inevitable) queues for showers, toilets, washing up etc were an understatement and not acceptable. Also the shower I had at 7.35am on Saturday was lukewarm, after I'd queued 10 minutes and put my 50p in the slot. The washing up water on Sunday morning was reduced to a trickle, albeit hot. We usually go to the campsite opposite but that too gets overcrowded and the ground there is not as good as the Farm site after heavy rain. The local pub food is still very good I'm pleased to say, but you need to arrive at just 7pm when they open for meals.

June 2004 My family and I have recently returned from here after a week in our tourer. We were looking very much towards the time away and chose caslterigg farm for its good reviews. I am sorry to say we cannot add to them but felt it was important to give a balanced view for future adventurers. The downsides were, 1. the bins were always full. 2.the waste water disposal point was a manhole cover straight into the mains. As I was emptying my waste water someones own toilet waste floated past. Really did not wish to see that!. 3. showers were 50 pence for 4 mins which for a family of 4 meant 1 shower each per day for 7 days would cost £14. too expensive. 4. the chemical disposal point was either blocked or full for two days so could not empty my cassette. Good points, 1. nice views and surrounding area. This site could be superb if it sorted out a few little problems. Sorry for being negative & happy camping.

July 2004 Well kept site with gorgeous views, facilities were fairly clean if a little over crowded when the site was full. Site was much larger and busier than we expected which was not to our taste but seemed good for families. Good base for some pleasant local walks and Keswick town. Although the site had a no noise after 10.30pm policy this was not enforced when we were there and the site owner didn't seem too interested when we pointed out some particularly rowdy guests.

April 2004 Excellent site with a warm welcome and amazing views. The staff were friendly and facilities clean with hot showers. The nearby pub (which is a 2 minute walk) was very small but welcoming to all with a decent range of beers and good low cost hearty grub. Keswick town centre was a short walk of about 15 minutes. Excellent value all round.
We'll be back in May.

1st May 2004 We arrived in the dark to a warm welcome only to find we were at the wrong site. The site we meant to go to was the larger site across the road with a similar name. As the larger site was closed we decided to stay at Castlerigg Farm just for the night and move the next morning.
We were delighted to find the facilities were excellent, very modern and clean, power showers, hairdryers, hand dryers, coffee machine, not at all how we thought a farm site would be. On emerging from our tent the following morning the view took our breath away. The site was clean and well kept and there wasn't a doubt in any of our mind that this was where we all wanted to stay. A fantastic site but only for quiet campers as its made very clear about the "No noise after 10.30pm" rule. We plan to return again next month.

April 2004 We visited here Easter weekend and found it to be a very nice place to camp. The site was large (plenty of places to camp) and the amenities were very good. They even had a hot drinks machine which was only 25p for a drink.
There was plenty of walks around the campsite and was about a 35 minute walk to Keswick town centre through the woods.
The people were very friendly and the views were lovely.
We are going back in a couple of weeks and can't wait.
