Have to say that this was a bit of a odd site. Location is great being so close to Keswick. It is very large and there is only one toilet block at the bottom of the hill. The caravans get the spots nearest to it. There was a fair bit of queueing. (4 showers in the mens block)
On arrival we were told to go into the left hand field but above the cones which meant a 5 min walk to the block. The site is on a slight slope with some pitches worse than others. We pitched right at the top by the stone wall which was flat and was away from the majority of noisy kids (except ours and one lot next door) The staff were helpful but not overly friendly. The shop was fairly typical, most of what you need.
The noise cutoff at 10.30pm is very rigid but I find it strange that kids are allowed to run around after dark as much as they like before then (I figure that having kids locked up at say 10pm or earlier would be better rather than just stop everything at once. The lack of a playground or anything else other than grass got a bit much for our kids.
One point to note the ascent of Walla Crag isn't something for the faint hearted, it is pretty steep in places and the top is pretty exposed.
One strange thing is that we were only charged low season rates (£16.80 per night) rather than High season which would have been over £22pn.

Just returned form our first foray into camping for many a year and decided on this site following recommendations from here. Didn't get to set of Friday night (Ian busy with work) so arrived at 10.30am Sat. Helpful chap at reception told me to find a pitch and then pay as he wasn't sure about pitches. We found a nice spot by the wall which adjoins the public footpath but very quiet. The toilets and showers were clean, but only two showers and OH said there were no urinals in gents which resulted in wet seats etc from youngsters who couldn't aim straight! We had a relaxing time with fantastic views, a breathless climb up Walla Crag - it was very humid, and a relatively quiet night. We ate at The Red Fort Indian Restaurant in Keswick, we have been there before and this time seemed much improved. All in all a nice break from the rigours of daily grind. We will stay there again.

We arrived on site Fri evening at 6pm which in June concerned me slightly as we have seen Site Full signs far earlier in the day than that , and earlier in the year, but not to worry , there was plenty of room. There was a Caravan Club meeting in the Big field but the Tent field was pretty sparse , probably due to The England game on the Sat. We managed to get a great pitch in the middle , giving great views all round and down to Bassenthwaite. There was plenty of hot water , but 50p should get you more time than 3 and a half minutes in the shower, but that's OK. The shop was well stocked with the stuff you need , the staff were friendly and helpful. Ice Lollies were the main for our weekend as it was so hot. The wind was blowing quite strongly and kept the heat off the sun , but I can imagine on a cold April day with the rain teeming down. Other than that , spotless site , great staff , sooperb views , and Keswick on your doorstep , Cant be all that bad !. - we'll definitely be back

Bit complicated with two sites located very close to each other with similar names. The first time we came to the Keswick area we thought the two sites (Castlerigg Farm & Castlerigg Hall) were connected and headed for the larger entrance on the right only because it was the first entrance we came to. After we were told Castlerigg Hall was full we saw the signs for Castlerigg Farm 50 yards further up the lane on the left. We weren't sure if Castlerigg Farm would be to our liking as most farm sites we have stayed on have had a couple of basic showers and a cold tap. Castlerigg Farm has much more, from the power showers, hand dryers, laundry room and shop we found the site to be well cared for and very clean. The owners were very pleasant and more than helpful and what's more seamed to always be on duty so you felt there was always a familiar face around. The views from the campsite were more than we expected, we used a roll of film before we left the site. One thing that was made very clear on our arrival was "No noise after 10.30pm" and they do mean "NO noise". We commented on the fact that all the children playing football at 10.20pm were no where to be seen by 10.30pm, the owner explained, if your looking for parties or people talking loudly late at night, this isn't the site to come to and it looked like the campers on site agreed as everyone we spoke to liked the peace and quiet. I have to agree with the site rules as in such a quiet place voices do carry and the owners are fair to all visitors by explaining what is required. We found it a wonderful place to be, even though it was busy it was still tranquil. The children had a great time playing football, the adults chilled out and the dog had the time of its life watching the rabbits. We found this gem of a campsite by accident and will definitely be back in a few weeks, pity you cant book for camping.

Just returned from the weekend at Castlerigg Farm Campsite. We originally intended to go to Castlerigg Hall as we were there last year but found the Hall site full. The Hall entrance is the first you come to and people new to the area (like us last year) turn in to the Hall entrance without taking a look at the Farm Site. We decided to go another 50 yards up the lane and give the farm site a go and we were so glad we did. The Hall Site is a lot bigger but we found the Farm Site to have spotlessly clean facilities, showers, toilets, dish washing room, laundry room and a small but well filled shop. We also found the Farm Site to have the better views from the camp field and on Sunday morning we sat outside the tent having breakfast and whichever way we looked the views were amazing. Even though there had been a lot of rain the ground was fine so we had no problems and when the family joined another group on the small play area outside the toilet block for a game of football the grass held up well. The owners of the site were very friendly and helpful and the little guy working there always had some happy banter. We saw the owner walking the field to make sure the 10.30pm no noise rule was being followed but as the rules are made quite clear before anyone stays we found the site to be very quiet and slept extremely well.We were sorry to come home as we had a fantastic weekend. The one thing that did disappoint us was the hotel at the entrance to the Hall site, its now all vegetarian and wasn't to our liking, still, you cant win them all. We will return to the Farm Site again.

Visited on a UKCampsite rally - the weather was freezing but other than that thoroughly enjoyable. The views from the site are spectacular. All amenities were spot on -showers and washing up facilities were clean and well maintained and the water was hot. Will be returning here and would recommend it highly. The site was spotless and the staff very friendly

My boyfriend and I stayed at Castlerigg Farm for the Easter break for 2 nights. It was great, the facilities were superb, the showers were hot and 50p was enough with 3 1/2 mins to have a wash although was a bit tricky when having to wash hair, had to be quick! The owners were really friendly and helpful when it came to tips on walking routes. The views from the site are absolutely amazing and a walk up Walla Cragg is highly recommended for even more spectacular views of Derwent and the surrounding Fells, but be prepared for a steep climb. We will definitely be staying at Castlerigg Farm again.

This was our first visit to the Castlerigg farm site and I have to say that we were overall very impressed. The scenery is breathtaking. The facilities were very clean and friendly owners. The only problem we found that the ground was full of stones and bent several of our pegs (the bottom end of the site). Unfortunatley half the site had been closed off that week for a caravan rally and was very busy so I cannot say what the rest of the ground is like to pitch a tent. We are planning to return next year with stronger pegs and a good mallet!!

Second visit in a couple of months! It's a great site. I heard it wasn't as luxurious as Castlerigg Hall site, but its very clean and has all facilities. Noise curfew is 10:30 but thats fine - its very quiet round there and it could kind of ruin things if everyone was noisy. We will be returning as soon as poss, and the views are stunning!

We arrived on the August bank holiday at midday and had no problems getting a pitch. The owners were very polite and helpful. The on site shop was small, but stocked pretty much everything you would need. The toilet block was spacious and clean, with ample hot water and good showers. The site is on a slight slope, but nothing major, with absoloutly superb views of the surrounding area and plenty of walks. The town of Keswick is about 30 minutes walk away and is a lovely place to go. All in all, a great site and definitely worth a visit. We will be returning!
