August 2005 Stayed at this campsite on two recommendations - no wonder it was so highly recommended! I agree with all comments about fabulous views, helpful staff, well-drained ground, and peace and quiet.
Although the 50p showers were short, water was powerful so there was time to wash hair & rinse shampoo out! Explanations of the need to economise on water usage were informative and helpful.
My son and I really enjoyed fabulous walks direct from site. Walking to Walla Crag and up on to Bleaberry Fell was a highlight, despite the damp weather.

June 2005 This campsite is in a lovely location with 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains. The facilities are first class with a useful shop on site for the bits of things you forget to take. We were given a warm welcome by the owners who are available 24 hours. The site did get full but was not cramped we still had plenty of space and we had a very peaceful nights sleep. The toilets were cleaned reqularly and although i didnt personally use the showers others who did had no complaints. Overall a lovely campsite with great walks literally on your doorstep and only a very short drive from keswick town centre. Excellent!

August 2005 As this was our first camping holiday as a family, we were a little worried about noise as we have a 10month old baby. we set off on route to castle rigg hall but found the site full on arrival, just up the road by 50 yards is castle rigg farm. We parked and went to reception to book in and found very pleasent people there. There is a very strict no noise policy after 10.30 thats it! great! the baby went to sleep at 7-7.30pm and wasnt woke up by campers partying as there wasn't any! If you have a family, We have 2 girls @ 15 and 12 and the baby then this is the site to use!
The site is clean and has everything thats needed. There is no club hut or bar onsite but this is why its quiet! There is a pub just outside the enterance to the right that fuels both sites and starts to serve food at 7.00pm so we didnt get to use it as the baby was going to sleep at that time so I cannot say what its like inside! The farm is cheaper than the Hall to camp on and for the quiet policy its better for people in my situation. I will be returning with no worries at all.

August 2005 Really love this site. The views are superb and despite being very busy there seemed to be plenty of room, the facilities were kept very clean. As another review says plenty of hot water and no midges. Having our seven year old nephew with us the No noise after 10.30 rule was an added bonus, there were a lot of children on site but come 10.30 there was silence. We shall definitely go there again and we enjoyed a good meal at the 'Twa Dogs' down in Keswick and a visit to the Cars of the Stars Museum.

June 2005 Excellent site , facilities (toilets ,showers , laundry , washroom )very good and kept very clean .50 p to use showers but you do get plenty of hot water.
The wind does tend to whistle up over the field so suggest you camp by wall. Not being by the water there is a total lack of midges to bite you.
If you do fancy a pint there is a public bar at the campsite opposite which serves decent beer and food but does get very crowded.
Keswick itself is probably the best town in the lake district with many excellant shops ,pubs and restaurants .

July 2005 As regular campers to Castlerigg Farm its obvious we like the place or we wouldn't keep returning.
The main thing that attracts us are the views, the quiet area and the friendliness of the staff. As a family run site its nice to go back and see the same faces in reception, its not a large commercial site where the staff changes and no one remembers you.
On entering the site there are several notices making it clear there is no noise after 10.30pm which is what we like. The area is so quiet and voices carry easily, its surprising how many people think canvas is a barrier to voices.
Last weekend we walked down through the woods to Keswick then down to the lake where we caught the launch to the other side and did some more walking. (We purchased a family launch ticket from the camp site shop and got a discount). By the time we got back to the site we were too tired to cook so went to the little pub 2 minutes away from the site and had a lovely meal. It was nearly 11pm when we got back to the site and the site owner was still around cleaning the toilets.
Although dry it was a windy night and next morning several people were complaining about noise but as it was windy no one could pinpoint where the singing and music came from. We felt so sorry that the usual quiet site had been spoiled by some thoughtless people and know for a fact that one family left because of it. Later the same day we noticed 3 women with their children being asked to depart the site, someone had pointed out the culprits and they were removed, piece reigns once again.
Were coming back again next month for the children's holidays.

June 2005 This campsite was very nice, the views were great. The facilities were good. Having seen the sign at the entrance saying no noise after 1030pm, as it was myself and husband didn't think this would be a problem. However we were told to be quiet at 1045, and we were only talking!! Anyway apart from that, the walk into Keswick was nice (although a little steep through the woods!) and took about 20 minutes ish. The pub on site was rather small, but cosy. We didn't eat there but food looked nice. All in all a good site, but probably not for late night talkers!!

May 2005 We have just come back from an extended family weekend camping. WHAT A LOVELY SITE. Facilities regularly being cleaned, friendly staff, strictly enforced 10.30pm no noise rule, stunning views. Just what the doctor ordered. We were worried that we would not get a pitch as you cannot book over Bank Holiday weekends. I arrived at 6.30pm on Friday and got in no problems however by late evening the site was full. That said, there was still plenty of room between the tents and the facilities are more than capably of coping with a peak peiods. To top this all off the shop sells fab bacon & egg butties. Top Marks!!!!!!! We'll be back soon.

March 2005 Just returned from a great weekend at Castlerigg Farm. The facilities were good even though it was full with it being Easter. Did run out of hot water in the morning but it sooned warmed up later on. Great views, friendly staff. The web site does not give it justice. We would definately return.

August 2004 Superb views, Excellent facilities, did'nt find it too overcrowded. Plenty to do locally. We were camping in the wettest week in August but the area made up for it! Magnificent local walks and the pub was'nt too bad either! Have now bought a caravan and intend to return.
