Nice site! Friendly welcome upon arrival and we were walked to our good sized pitch, which was as with most on the site 'slightly sloping'. We paid £19. 50 per night for two people in a campervan with elec hook up. But, as others have stated, it was then 50p for a shower (I needed £1), 20p for the hairdryer, 20p for freezer blocks etc etc. Everything was extra. It was great to have Wifi on the site, but again, it cost an extra £2 per day per device.
The facilities were clean, but perhaps starting to look a little tired - which doesn't bother me, but for the money they were charging, I was expecting more for some reason. My shower had a rusty old disabled type chair contraption in it and little things like no hot or cold indication on the shower control - so it took me 25p trying to work out how to cool it down from scolding before I could even start my shower!
The Hayloft Cafe was very good with big hearty meals and very good value for money.
The 'No Noise' policy after 10. 30pm was good for us as we wanted to be up early for a big hike so needed an early night.
In summary, it is a nice site and at £19. 50 is reasonable value, but we would probably try elsewhere before we came back.

Stayed here before and loved the site for the views went again this year for easter the staff are amazing and so helpful helped us onto the pitch due the the soft ground and nothing is a problem
Just a couple of little moans like most people I found all the rules stuck up everywhere quite annoying and the 50p shower for 3 mins and having to wait for the water to warm up. I did notice the tiles in the showers were a bit grubby and could do with a good clean but I think this site is great although we did have a problem with the ehu tripping out which ive never had before
Went to the hayloft were if I'm honest I wouldn't visit again the staff were amazingly friendly and I could clearly see they were stretched staff wise but the food wasn't the best the chips had been reheated a few times and gammon very dry resulting in both of us running to the toilet block at 3am but this could have been down to going at a very busy time as they were a lovely couple
Again a great site with amazing staff and views but I do think for £23. 00 pn they could do with adding some little extras in now as most super pitches are £25. 00 pn in top areas
I will go back and will continue for years to come

On arrival we were taken to our pitch by a very helpful staff member. We were on a grass pitch with wonderful panoramic views. We noticed some good hard standing pitches which would be appropriate during wet times and they also have hook up points for tents.
As the site was quiet the site shop and cafe weren't open all the time but the shop was open every morning and evening and the staff were around all the time with helpful information about local walks. A very nice walk from the site through the woods to Keswick and a good bus rout at the end of the lane.
We loved the 10. 30pm silence rule, it's what they advertise and you get what it says on the packet. The site facilities included showers, toilets, dishwashing room and laundry room which were spotless. Free hand soap and a very useful tea/coffee machine in the laundry room.
This site has one if the best dog walks we've seen and like other areas on the site it has fabulous views, lovely well kept grass and was very clean. It's nice to find a site which caters so well for dogs, they even have an area with a dog shower. We were sad to see they have had to cover the dog walk area with a camera as many dog owners weren't picking up after their animals and the mess was left for the staff to pick up which I think is awful especially when they provide free poo bags and don't charge for dogs.
We did pay £2 for WiFi but I don't mind paying when the speed was good enough to watch TV.
We found the value excellent as they had a special offer of £17. 00 per night which included up to two people, our dogs, electricity and awning and as the special offer is extended until 9th November and becomes even cheeper we have booked a return visit. A site we can happily recommend.

Wonderful location excellent welcome. Easy to find amenities basic but spotless. Great dog walking facilities, smashing walks to Keswick and to borrowdale and stone circle.
A couple of DOWNS though
Toilet roll holder in blocks very badly placed have to be a contorsionist to remain seated and get some tissue.
Notices every where a bit irritating ie dog walk 'you are being watched on CCTV.
50p for a shower a bit high £2. 00 a day for Wi-Fi a bit steep in this day and age.
Hardstanding consists of stone laid on mush wind was strong but all my pegs including storm pegs pulled out and my awning was wrecked, on complaining was told it was due to all the rain.
Quiet after ten thirty pm. Means quiet we were sitting in awning talking normally no noise and at 10. 40 were reminded by the warden that its silence after 10. 30. Should sound Lights out.
Saying all that its a wonderful spot

I stayed for three nights at Castlerigg Farm, a long-established family-run campsite, in September 2014. The staff were friendly and helpful, the facilities fairly good, the cost reasonable and the location excellent. I enjoyed my stay and will return.
The site is easy to find along a lane which is well signposted from the A591 about a mile out of Keswick. The lane is narrow but fine for caravans. The site is on high ground above the town with great views in all directions. For active campers, this campsite is a good base for walking with upland routes on the doorstep.
Reception is staffed during arrival and departure times (morning and evening) and the shop sells local produce. Upon arrival, you book in then select your own pitch and cars can be parked beside tents.
Although EHU pitches for caravans or motor homes can be booked in advanced, the site doesn't take reservations for tents - camping is on a first come, first served basis.
There are two fields, one for caravans the other for tents (although tents can be pitched on either field). The whole site is on a gentle slope. The fields are fairly exposed to the wind - there's not much shelter although the tent field has more trees around it than the caravan field. The grass is short and the soil takes tent pegs easily. The pitches with EHU are situated along the bottom of each field and along the hedge dividing the fields.
There is a strict noise curfew and the site caters to family groups and couples - it's not for rowdy single-sex groups. On the nights I stayed it was one of the quietest campsites I've used. The gates are locked overnight from 10pm until 8am to minimise noise and I didn't hear traffic noise from the nearby main road.
The facilities block shares its building with the reception and shop. The facilities are to a fairly good standard but feel a bit dated. There are adequate loos and showers and during my stay the water was usually hot although it was cooler late at night. The site is not on mains water and there are slight restrictions on supply; the water has a slight peaty colour after rain. The washrooms are centrally heated and there is a laundry room.
The site welcomes dogs and doesn't charge for them - it has a dog-washing enclosure, free poo bags, and a good dog walking area. There were lots of dogs there during my stay.
In summary, this is a well-situated campsite maintained to a good standard. I recommended it and will definitely stay there again.

Stayed here for a couple of nights mainly because of its proximity to Keswick. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Toilet block very dated and I feel that at the prices charged showers should be free. Also wifi at £2 a day is excessive in this day and age. A lot of notices about giving instructions on what to and not to do which I find slightly annoying. There are other sites in the area which I prefer so am unlikely to return. Mention must be made of the quirky and interesting Crag Bar just along the road which serves Asian influenced vegetarian/vegan meals plus a couple of local ales - definitely worth a visit.

We've used this site for over 15 years, the site has changed little, but the facility's have been constantly improved. We've stayed in every campsite around Keswick and Borrowdale and this is by far our favourite. You can pick your own pitch and the views are amazing. We always walk up Walla crag and also down through the woods in Keswick.
Theres a pub near by ( Crag Bar) which serves basic bar meals and serves Jennings cask ales.
Small shop on site and Wi-Fi access was £2 per day.
There's now a cafe on site for breakfasts and evening meals.
Showers are 50p which is annoying when your paying £22. 60 per night for a small tent, 2 adults and a 5 year old.
In short this is still the best site around but starting to get too pricey for regular visits.
Facility's are clean but basic.
If there was a box to score for views from the site I'd leave 10 out of 10.

Decent site, lots of nice amenities. Will certainly return. Everything kept immaculate. We loved the toilets. Not too far from Keswick which was nice, could also walk into town however be aware a very steep hill awaits on the return journey. The little pub attached to the site was lovely and service really good.

Just had a few days here in my campervan with the dog. Although the weather was chronic, the site didn't flood. Brilliant views because it is high up. Great site as a base for walking, Walla Crag not far and the Stone Circle close too. 25 minute walk through the forest into Keswick if you need anything, although there is a shop on site for basics. Clean and well run, no noise permitted after 10. 30 pm so if you want to stay up late then book somewhere else.
I thought £23 per night with electric was a bit high, but the proximity to Keswick probably pushes the price up.
Will return again.
