We stayed for 3 nights mid July (Thursday-Sunday) the site got very full at the weekend, but that being said we never had to queue for the toilets or showers and there was always plentiful supplies of hot water.
The views of the surrounding area from the tent field were spectacular, and having the odd rather tame free range sheep wander past while you were putting your tent up just adds to the fun. This is a working farm after all, and the sheep wandering around on the access road do make you slow down.
Would happily recommend this site to anyone as we received as warm a welcome as we have had anywhere and at £10 per night for a tent + 2 people it is good value for money. My one gripe would be that because it is on a hillside offering good views it can be a bit windy at times, which made putting our tent up on the first afternoon a bit challenging. That being said we are already planning next years visit and have already recommended the site to two others campers at work who regularly visit the area.

We stayed at this site for 3 nights, we had a warm welcome there was five adults and 2 dogs. Which cost £30 per night for us all.
The electric is on a pre pay meter which you purchase a card on arrival. I had £10 worth due to having an electric heater, but over the 3 nights and days of very heavy rain and very windy with the heater on constantly, as we couldn't do nothing else but play cards and watch dvd's, we still had £2 left on the sunday when we left. So with tv, heater and lighting, plus a water heater all on 24/7 I think it was very good value and would recommend other sites to do this.
Toilet block nice and clean with free showers. Not much to do on site once you are there, not ideal for children as they would easy get bored but a nice place for walks, there is no shop on site but a butchers van came round on the weekend.
Can't really comment on the area as never went anywhere except Morrison's supermaket which is in Buxton about a mile away.
The campsite has some fantastic views which would of been better in the sun.
Would return and hopefully with sunshine next time.

We have just come back from a very windy 2 nights here. The site was easy to find if you follow the directions on their website, the sat nav would have sent us in another direction.
The owners gave us a warm welcome and were very friendly.
They had put £2 on the electricity meter for us, although we only had a coolbox and various chargers, we wouldnt have used all of the £2 but it worked out a lot less than sites that charge for EHU per night so we didnt grumble.
There is a security barrier at the entrance to the camping fields and we were given the code so that we could come and go as we wanted.
We were directed to a very large field that had lovely views over the countryside, it was very quiet, all we could hear (apart from the wind) were the usual sounds you hear on a farm, animals and the odd tractor, it was very relaxing.
The toilets/showers were always clean and always had hot water and loo rolls and never found any queues.
We paid £32 pounds for 2 nights for 2 adults, 2 kids 16 & 11, a dog, a utility tent and electric so we thought it was great value.
One of the nicest sites we have been to.

We went to this site for 4 days and thought it was average. The pitches on the tenting field were ok but they didn't really cater for you if you went without electric. The toilets were ok they were always clean. My biggest bug bear was all the signs around the site. Everywhere you looked there were site rules and do not do this signs or if you do this you will be asked to leave signs. There were in the toilets in the pot washing area, on fences and even on benches! It was just too much!
The other problem was the main road (A6), it was constantly noisy even in the middle of the night so if your a light sleeper you will be tired!
Owner's Note: the A6 is 4 miles from the campsite!

Due to the vagaries of the sat nav, we didn't get there while 7.30, went on one of two left re-enforced pitches, ajacent to a tenter with his flap/door opposite to the standard way which meant we both gawped at each other, every entry/exit.
Its a mainly uphill march, on a road with no footpath for approximately 1/4 of a mile, then on to the pub in Chelmorton, to the Church Inn, which does nice food.
Theres no public transport to speak of, a bus once a day.
The toilets are not of a great standard and with a little more thought could be re-hashed and a couple more showers added.
Although Ed did say he would be feeding the lambs at 10, when I went down to ask after an hour, with a 10 year old and a 20 month old who had been up since 8.30 and at the gates since 9.45, his wife said they had a water leak in a barn and Ed was fixing it.
As discussed earlier the electricity is on a token system, and just so folk know, it cost 50p for the fridge on all night (16 hours ) and two cups of tea, given that it cost us £38 for two adults and one ten year old for two nights, though we left Saturday lunchtime , I think it is expensive.

We stayed over on the bank holiday weekend. It must have been the windiest on record!
Ed was without doubt the most friendly site owner / farmer I have ever met.
On Sunday morning he picked up our three children on his quad bike and took them to feed the lambs. They thought this was the highlight of the weekend.
The place was spotless and some of the reviews mention the limited toilet / shower facilities. We didn't have to queue at all and it was fully booked so no problems there.
The site was fairly level and not muddy at all. We will go there again and maybe try the B&B without the kids!

Please note my review is based on one night as we had to come home early.
Shallow Grange Farm is a beautiful farm and we were greeted by their own custom speed trap. Lambs wandering in the road back and forth, very cute and the kids loved it. The owners are very kind and welcoming. We were the first there and had a great spot in the corner. There are no facilities for kids but with all the animals, they loved it. Our children fed the sheep Sat morning too and loved it! The farmer made it very educational for all!
What I really liked about the camp is that all the pitches are to the outside and you get this huge play area to run free! The toilets were spotless although not enough for how many people were there. I do have to say that I didn't really see any queues for the showers. There is also a disabled / changing station bathroom that also has a shower. There was only one mens shower in the main block and then they open a portable unit for the men when busy. There are 2 showers and some toilet facilities. However, there are no privacy curtains on the shower stalls and they are in direct line with the door. To top it off, the door was actually wedged open on a few occasions. Owner's note: All our showers have 2 doors, 1 when entering the shower room & the other when entering the shower cubicle
There is a nice dish washing area under cover along with a washer and dryer and tourist brochures.
You are given a pitch number when you check in and they stagger each one giving plenty of room to pitch up.
This camp is very eco friendly and ask you to recycle so be prepared to keep your trash separated for ease of disposal later. I think it's great!
Fresh water taps are conveniently located and they even provide bricks to put your bbq's on.
No shop but as stated before fresh eggs are for sale and a butcher comes in on Sats with fresh meats and fish as well.
Buxton is not far and a fabulous place to visit.
On the negative, cars travelled into the fields too fast. There were lots of children and we had to constantly watch for cars. Our field had the ewes housed about 3 weeks earlier and there was still a lot of poo in the fields, so constantly checking shoes. And there were campers in the cow fields and of course, a lot of cow poo. This may not be a negative to you but worth mentioning. Owner's note: Regarding the cow & sheep "poo", we do not have any farm stock grazing in the touring & camping fields. We can only assume this visitor ignored the areas marked private on the map given to them, & was walking where they should not have.
The best part about this camp is that it is truly family orientated, plenty of other children for yours to play with. Once it got late, it was very quiet.
Unfortunately, we had to leave right after the sheep feeding Sat afternoon due to a defect in our tent. Our children weren't happy about having to leave.

Just got back from Shallow Grange today.
Edward and Marilyn are the nicest site owners we have ever met.
Our children fed the sheep in the morning, and even had a ride on the back of Edward's quad bike - he offered this as a treat.
The site has no shop, but you can buy fresh eggs, try them - they are delicious. The hens wander round the lanes.
The showers/toilet facilities are a little small, but it didn't seem to matter, the whole place just bewitched us.
It is very close to Buxton, with all the usual shops and pubs there.
Sadly on our last day our young dog slipped out of my hand and ran straight into the field with the lambs that Edward and his family had hand reared. Luckily she didn't harm them but I was devastated. Even then Edward and Marilyn were fantastic, and although I left in tears they told us to come back next year.
We would love to go back, but will leave the dogs at home, as even though we were really careful accidents can happen and this site is in the middle of a working farm.
But I can't recommend the site enough, it's lovely.

OK - as it rained and rained and rained in July, we were determined to return in August, especially as we had had 8 sun filled days in Yorkshire. Sadly it was rather wet again! I cannot sing the praises of Edward and his wife enough - they are the most perfect of hosts you are likely to ever meet. They make time to talk to the children when you can only imagine the amount of work they have to do on a daily basis. The toilet blocks aren't the best and could do with being up-dated and, at a guess, as time goes on they will be. The position of the site for many of the Peak Districts attractions and walks is spot on as you do not have to travel great distances each day: Buxton 3 miles, Ashbourne and Bakewell 10 miles. Also, ensure you get your daily milk order in - it tasted great and was a real treat The only issue I have is that it is an exposed site due to its height; it certainly suits smaller tents compared to our 12 sleeper. The clouds descended from the morning after we arrived till when we departed so we were in constant dampness. OK, dropping down into the valley during the day was great for the fine weather, but it was hard on the children in the evenings. On saying that we were coping. Until the wind started to increase. All the campers spent a very uncomfortable night with their tents being battered and sadly, for one family, their tent was flattened. We decided to down pitch early as we had received such a battering. We shall certainly return and I will recommend a visit to the site - just keep an eye on the forecast! It still gets 10/10 from me as Edward can't alter the weather. Not yet anyway!

A lovely campsite, up on the hills 4 miles from buxton. Cant really beat the veiw from all angles when you arrive and spend the weekend chillin. it was bank hol weekend when we were there and to be quite honest they needed more than the 3 showers they had for each sex. but hey thats camping at a bank holiday. the owners marilyn and edward are lovely and very welcoming, providing advice and guides for the walks we did from the campsite, all in all a fab campsite and shall be visiting again
