We stayed at this campsite for 5 nights and were most impressed with everything. The toilet block was superb, the pitch was good with lovely views and owners were very nice and helpful.

Electric was paid by card so owners advised us to use our gas supply to be more economical which was good advice.

The site has a secure barrier which you have to use a code to enter or exit and the site is very tranquil and relaxing.

We would recommend this site to anyone and will definitely be returning some time in the future.

Had a lovely stay at this campsite for 7 nights in August. Perfect location for exploring the Peak District.

The facilities were kept both clean and tidy, no complaints about the male or female shower blocks. We had warm showers every day!

We stayed in a tent with electric hook-up. As others have commented, we used various electrical items and used less that £1. 00 for the whole week. The owners are happy to refund any unused electric cards.

The campsite was very quiet by about 9pm, the only noise you could really hear was a bit of road traffic and of course, the planes going to the various airports on the outskirts of the Peaks.

The owners and staff were friendly and helpful. This really is a lovely campsite and we would definitely return.

We have just returned from a Wednesday - sunday stay on the site and had a lovely time.

We were on the site with EHU so there were caravans and tents. The pitches were very spacious and clearly marked with white lines.

The EHU requires meter cards but we only used £3 worth for the whole visit and we were running an electric cool box constantly as well as hairdryers, lights, straighteners at various times.

Traffic could be heard but I wouldn't say it would keep you awake. The cows were very loud but we quite liked that!

The site itself was very quiet Wed- Fri and then predictably filled up to capacity. During the evenings over the weekend the site was quite loud but all went quiet at 11 - 11. 30 and stayed so until about 8 am.

The showers were very good, spacious, warm and with lots of hooks, shelves and a chair to put your things on. Wed - Thur they were very clean and always well stocked with toilet paper.

Fri - Sun the owners tried their best but they did get a bit dirty as it was a wet weekend and the toilets had run out of toilet roll every morning.

They could do with some more sinks in the ladies as when you just want to wash your hands you have to queue with all the people who are having a wash/doing their makeup.

Overall a lovely site, very well maintained and really handy location being very close to Buxton and Bakewell.

I'm glad to report that my recent experience was a very good one. I booked 4 nights and right from the outset it was evident this is a well managed and friendly site.

The owners kindly offered a map so I could find my way around, there were lots of nice touches and the site was kept in really very good order, even as a working farm there was minimal disturbance from machinery or the sheep resident in the next field. The nearby road is not busy and what traffic there is, is just about audible, so not a problem.

The campsite is divided into several fields, the more level field reserved for tourers with the slighty sloping field used for the general campers. Electricity is available, but I can't comment as I didn't use any.

I found the washroom facilities to be spacious enough (plenty of hot water) and exceptionally clean, and during the peak times are cleaned almost continuously.

I understand the heating is provided by a very efficient solar generator and the greene theme continues as all rubbish is disposed of in recycling bins.

Situated within striking distance of Buxton, it is in a very convient local for shops, although there are none within short walking distance so a a car would be needed to stock up anything you may need.

I like this site I look forward to using Shallow Grange again in the future.

The checkin/checkout times are 11am for both and to be honest they didn't appear to check this with anyone on the site, but everybody leaving was pretty good at being ready on time. Upon arrival checkin is easy at the main house and the fields and facilities are entered though a secure entry gate which you have to get the code for -very secure.

The pictures of the new shower block attracted us to this site and we were not disappointed -if anything they were better. There seems to be a full time member of staff to clean the block as the toilets and showers are immaculate. The cleaner was around for the best part of the morning regoing over all the floors whenever someone had walked footprints across them. There was never a queue and an additional shower block is open at busy times. The site was full over the weekend we were there. The light fittings have two pin power sockets for shavers etc in both ladies and mens, so take an adapter.

All rubbish is recyclable into numerous separate bins, so make sure you sort your rubbish into the separate areas.

The pitches are large and allocated on arrival, with the best ones seeming to be at the top and bottom of the field as they are flatter.

There is a small village (and pub) of Chelmorton a short walk away although we didn't visit it. If you turn out of the sight, Buxton is 5 min drive away and a Tesco Metro is on the outskirts closest to the site, with a Morrisons nearby.

Other people have said that the site was noisy due to traffic, but to be honest this did not bother us and we barely noticed it, The SHEEP however were very vocal and seem to be awake 24/7. As this is a working farm. We didn't mind the sheep too much either as it is the countryside!

All in all a really clean, welcoming and well run site that lets you have a BBQ whenever you want, and we will definitely be going back there as soon as we can!

We stayed here for two nights and found the site brilliant. We were in the electric hook up field which was the flattest of the three although I don't think the slight slope of the other fields would've been an issue if not. The toilets and showers were kept very clean throughout our stay. Beautiful scenery all around the site, I would recommend taking bikes to do some of the local trails as they are also excellent. Metered electric about 40p a day for us with a fridge and tv. Would definitely return

We stayed in the touring field at the top of the site, the pitches were flat and level although we did feel a little close to the tents opposite us and although they are pitched to overlap still felt like every time we looked out it was into someone else's tent. The site is ideal for visiting Buxton, Bakewell and Matlock and despite having heavy rain had an enjoyable weekend.

We did feel however that the facilities were not as clean as we had expected after reading previous reviews even taking into account the bad weather.

Excellent campsite, very helpful owners, very clean facilities and friendly campers (and caravanners).

Good pub in local village about 40mins leisurely walk away (across field, lanes, and short section of more trafficked road).

Buxton also very close ~ 3 miles away from centre - well worth a visit, especially the excellent juke box in the queens head (or may have been kings head - there is a variety of heads in town), as well as further on with the old spa buildings.

We chose the site after reading the previous positive reviews and we were not disappointed. We stayed for 3 nights over the half term break.

The site was everything that we expected, it is laid out over 3 main fields - we stayed in the touring field which is at the top of the site with lovely views across the open countryside.

The pitches were large and mainly flat with plenty of room for our Outwell Hartford XL and car.

The shower block was nice and although the main block only had 3 showers/toilets we didn't have to wait! We didn't find the electric cards a problem - we only used £1.50 over the three days using an electric fan at night - so good value.

The site was on a quiet country lane so no road noise to speak of. The local pub (Church Inn?) served large portions and was very tasty too!

The location was great for trips to Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock. We also visited Alton Towers (which was about 40 mins away). We can recommend a visit to Monsal Head with a variety of walks available (routes available in the pub - which was great to visit after a 2 hour walk!)

All in all a lovely site in a lovely area which we can recommend.

Campsite is nice and small with a real family owned feel to it. Situated just off the A515 (the Buxton to Ashbourne road) the campsite also had good road links which make it easy to get to.

The toilet facilities are great and clearly have had a lot of money spent on them recently. The camping field out the back can be a bit boggy and muddy but nothing too bad, just be careful of the shoes which you may use.

As others have said there is a barrier to prevent unauthorised cars driving which is nice. The owner seemed nice enough and has always been friendly whenever I've needed some advice.
