I can only echo what the other reviewers have said about this campsite. We stayed at this campsite for 4 nights
Ed and Marilyn the owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming.
The showers were clean at all times. I only had to queue for the ladies showers once which was to be expected as they were fully booked over the weekend, Ed has also warned me that this may be the case and said I was welcome to use the mother and todler/disabled room if it was free. That said there was hot water at all times. The men's showers were hot at all times and my partner did not have to queue once.
The local pub in Chelmorton (recommended by Ed) serves wonderful home cooked food at a reasonable price and was very welcoming.
We borrowed one of the maps from the farmhouse and went on a wonderful walk again at Ed's suggestion.
We couldn't park next to our tent due to how wet it had been recently (you normally can) but we completely understood why and the field we camped in was in a wonderful condition.
There is a Morrisons supermarket within easy reach (10 minutes drive away) in case you have forgotten to buy anything and the farm also sells free range eggs (which tasted wonderful).
Whilst there are no children's play facilities etc the children that were staying on the farm all seemed able to amuse themselves playing in the middle of the field.
A perfect weekend at a perfect campsite. We would not hesitate in going back.

My wife, 5 year old boy and I have just returned from Shallow Grange site after staying for 3 nights. We had luckily found this site after unfortunately going to Greenhills near Bakewell and only staying there for one night due to the mud!
Shallow Grange is family friendly with really good spacious pitches. We stayed in the touring field with electric hook up and although our 8 man tent is 7.5mtrs long we had no problem with space and were not cramped at all by other users.
The electric is on a meter and you buy cards from the farm for a £1 but this lasts for ages!
The owners are excellent, friendly and very helpful. The site is set on a working farm with lovely views across the nearby hills. You are a short drive from Buxton where there is a large Morrisons and other shops.
The pitches in the touring & camping fields are all pretty level and were very well kept. There had been a weeks worth of rain prior to us arriving and there was no mud on any of the pitches. This is obviously due to the owners caring for the site and not allowing cars on the pitching areas (There is ample parking in an adjacent field which was also in good order)
The showers are clean and tidy, and there is a small laundry which takes £1 per wash & £1 per dry. If I had to be at all critical, the shower block could do with a bit of revamp and when the site became busy, there was sometimes a shortage of hot water.
Would recommend this site if you want peace & quite, very good pitches/views and friendly/helpful owners.
Sorry to pack up and leave. Would go back again easily.

This was our first ever camping trip, we have two children aged 8 and 4, they loved it. The site was lovely and the grass was cut nice and short (unlike some we had passed). We did book a different site but when we arrived they had no pitches with electric hook up so he gave us the number for Shallow Grange and they were very accommodating and helpful. The shower and toilet block were clean. The only downside was there was no electric point in the shower block to plug a hairdryer in. The people pitched on the site were very friendly. We will definitely visit this site again.

My husband and I were invited to a relatives barbecue in Buxton so thought we would make a weekend of it and booked in for 3 nights at Shallow Grange. What a great place, set in miles of rolling countryside, it was a real get away from it all break.
The pitches were well kept, with plenty of room
Between them. The site was quiet even though it was pretty full when we arrived.
We had our 8 month old puppy with us and there was plenty of room to tether him outside the tent without him being able to stray onto other pitches and annoy anyone.
The shower blocks were clean and well stocked, although were fairly basic, that said they served their purpose so no complaints there.
Another review mentioned the noise from the A6
Being very loud, I have to disagree. Even on the Monday morning when the traffic was heavy we could hardly hear it, maybe this other reviewer has super sensitive ears!
It is not the place foe people that want pubs and clubs on site, but if you want a quiet and peaceful getaway then head for Shallow Grange. We will definitely be back.

A lovely site with it's own fishing lake.
We stayed over the wettest period I have ever camped in and the site did struggle a bit with no vehicles being allowed on the camping field to avoid damage.
Facilities were quite basic but always clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. Baby change and wash facilities were good. Recycling is encouraged on site with bins for each type.
Electricity was by payment card and at the time no refunds were given.
Local meat for sale from the farm.
All in all a wet but pleasant stay.

Brilliant site, exceptionally friendly and helpful owners. Windy but fantastic views of surrounding countryside. No facilities like shop or bar but the village pub is a gem, one and a half miles away and there's a 24-hour Tesco Express a short drive away. Really good for children who'll love feeding the sheep, gathering the eggs from the hen house etc. Only drawback is that at busy times the water supplies (especially hot) struggle to cope but the bathroom and washing areas are otherwise kept clean. Some tremendous walks nearby - there are laminated guides you can borrow. A real find.

We have just returned from our first ever camping trip, we went with our three children (aged 4, 3 and 18 months), we went over the late May bank holiday weekend.
Shallow Grange is a fabulous site, we're very pleased we picked here for our first camping trip.
We were in the main camping field (there is an extra one at the back for busy weekends). There is plenty of space between pitches and all the tents are pitched to the outside of the field, there are none in the middle, which is great for letting your kids run around safely.
The toilet block was always clean and toilet roll always available. There are two showers in the ladies - even over this busy weekend, there was a max two ladies in the queue. My husband said there was only one shower in the men's but there was never anybody in the queue.
The owners, Ed and Marilyn, are absolutely lovely people. They run a busy working farm yet nothing is too much trouble for them. Every morning we were there, Ed allowed all the children on the site to go and see the orphaned lambs and feed them, even letting them into the pen so the children could stroke / cuddle the lambs. He then let all the kids feed the chickens and collect the eggs, then went to the main sheep field where the children could hand feed the sheep (which created lots of laughter!). Ed was fabulous with the children, he answered all their questions and they all loved him.
The campsite itself is well located, only about a 5 minute drive to Buxton which is very pretty, a lovely shopping centre and a gorgeous park. We also went to Chatsworth House which is about a 15 minute drive away.
We really enjoyed our stay at Shallow Grange and would definitely go back. It is a well kept, clean, peaceful site and would be great if you were with kids or just a couple looking for a quiet weekend away.

My wife and I stayed at this campsite over the first bank holiday weekend and had a really good time.
The site is easy to find not far off the main road with a long driveway down to the farmhouse/reception. The owner Ed was very friendly and helpful when we checked in in showing us where to pitch and explaining the ins and outs of the site.
I really thought the site as a whole was excellent, the toilet/shower facilities were clean and tidy. There is only one shower in the mens however I didn't see a long queue ever and didn't have to queue at all myself as I was up early each day. The site has a recycling policy which is good and easy to follow.
There are two areas for caravans with electric points etc and a large field for tents in front of these. There were also a few tents in a field at the back also as I think it was a busy weekend. The entrance to the site has a gate with a keypad so its secure. They pitches were a good size and not too close to the next one. Site nice and quiet at night.
There is lots to do around the area, Buxton and Bakewell are a short drive as is Chatsworth house. There is a pub in Chelmorton about 35 minutes walk albeit a lot of it down a road with no path so stick to the grass. The Pub the church inn does nice food and good beer. Landlord very friendly.
There's also lots to do onsite, there's a fishing lake but aimed at experienced anglers. I didn't get chance to try it but can vouch for fish being present as they turn over a lot. There's also lovely walks one of which is right out of the site, Ed lent us a route and map. I managed to re work the route into a shorter walk coming back via the pub. There was also the chance for kids (and grown ups) to see the lambs being fed. You can tell the owners are very proud of their farm and want to show it off
All in all this is a great site our only problem was the wind, its quite a high location and on the Sunday was really blowing and causing problems for our tent (first time I have pitched this one and havent got it quite right yet I suspect) hence we had to cut short our stay by a night and head home which was saddening. We weren't on our own either.
Wind aside I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site to anyone looking for a quiet place to camp and would certainly go back again. If not just to try the fishing.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? The site is lovely, on a working farm and the owner, Ed, is demonstrably passionate about animal husbandry. We chose this site after reading the reviews on this website as we like a more 'get back to nature' type of break for our urban family and this is exactly what we got. Do not go here if you want a bar, children's playground, shops or want to let your children run riot. If you want a fantastic base from which to walk or take cycle trails, if you want your children to get an education in real, caring farming with a hands on approach, for free, then this is the place for you. Contrary to some of the previous reviews the rules are not strict - simply common sense. The facilities are basic but clean - It was a busy bank holiday when we went but we didn't have to wait for a loo or shower, just avoided peak times.
The nearby Book Store is the highest in Britain and well worth a visit and there is a lovely Chinese takeaway in Buxton just down the road. We drove to Parsley Hey and cycled some of the Tissington Trail which was lovely because it's flat and off road so no worries for our children's safety. Unfortunately the rain put a dampener on the weekend but the ground in the EHU field drained well.
We can't thank Ed enough for taking the time out of his extremely busy day to show us the orphan lambs in the barn. Our girls (14 & 10) will long remember feeding the sheep, holding the lamb and the chickens and letting the lambs suck their fingers!
We will certainly go again and there is no greater endorsement than that.

Short and sweet.
Just visited this site after reading the reviews.
The children loved feeding the animals every morning thanks to Ed, the owner.
Plenty of room, the facilities were clean and plenty of hot water.
Great views and 5 mins form Buxton and Bakewell.
There are no parks for the children and no swimming pools etc. That is not what this site is about. This IS camping. Get the kids outside, there is plenty to do.
Well recommended and we WILL visit again.
