Just come back from a wonderful weekend at this campsite. We were welcomed on arrival and told to pitch wherever we wanted. The field we were in was lovely and flat, with picnic benches scattered around, beautiful drystone walls with views across the farm's sheep fields. There's also a small EHU field, and an area for caravans.
The shower block is more than big enough for the site; it's clean and there's enough hot water. Washing up facilities are great, and it's always nice to see provisions for recycling.
We were unlucky enough to have a group of lads camping next to us on the second night and they were extremely loud for most of the evening. Not long after they started playing loud music the owner came out and had a word with them and asked them to calm down. As much as this was appreciated it didn't have too much effect and our second night certainly wasn't as peaceful as the first. We go out of our way to pick quiet family campsites and the website says they don't accept loud groups like this. I wish they'd stuck to their word with this, it would have made a good trip a perfect one.
All that aside, this really was a beautiful place to stay (only 3 miles from Buxton) and we're looking forward to making a return visit very soon.

3 day stay, along with two other families.
LOCATION/SITE -
Lovely campsite, hospitable hosts (Edward and Marilyn), nice back-drop and views (although due to position not an abundance of rolling hills BUT still gorgeous), pitches (NON-ELECTRIC) were pretty even - slight slope but nothing to create problems. Great places to visit nearby.
BONUS - children (and adults) welcome to play ball games etc in middle of camping field!
FACILITIES
Showers, toilets and washroom were all v v clean. Despite the wet evenings and constant rain, there always seemed to be someone moping up and tidying the place.
ICE PACK/FREEZER FACILITY
Able to obtain a key for freezer use (£5 returnable with key) which is mega useful for freezer blocks and any freezer items. I'd like to think anyone should be able to leave stuff in there and return to it later.
Nice calibre of people on the site. Great location. And spotless place! WILL DEFO RETURN and recommend!

Great Location in between Bakewell & Buxton. We had EHU pitch. Field very flat and pitch size very roomy. Electric bought by token at £1 each we used 80p over 4 days. Owners happy to buy back unused tokens. Showers and toilets of a good standard and cleaned a couple of times a day, modern as well, 4 showers, 4 toilets and 4 sinks. Good washing up facilities also very modern. No shop on site but this is a plus when you have children as they can't keep asking for things. Fishing very good pond/lake not massive neither are fish but plenty to be caught which again is great for the kids. Owners very helpful and laid back, we weren't chased off our pitch at 11. 00. Great location for Dovedale, Tissington Trail, Monsal Trail and we visited with bikes to Derwent Dam all suitable for bikes or walking. Would definitely go again and not massively expensive £96. 00 4 night with electric and 2 kids.

Great little site run by fantastic people, loads of room to explore around the farm and down into back Dale with its cave and fantastic scenery. Toilets and showers were always clean and stocked with loo roll etc, we particularly liked the recycling policy which seemed to be well supported by all. Our children loved the talk about the lambs and both myself and my wife were very impressed by how passionate both he and his wife were about their business. Give it a go for a few days, you won't be disappointed!

Love this place and have been back several times. Not the cheapest site but the facilities are immaculate and the owners always friendly and accommodating. Has it all - stunning views, a good pub a mile or so up the road in Chelmorton village and amazing walks on the doorstep, so you can ditch the car, do a decent hike and enjoy a pint on the way back! Only downsides are it can get a bit cramped on the caravan side during high season, and muddy in bad weather when people ignore the rule to park their cars in the field. In springtime the farmer does a great talk with the new-born lambs which has all generations enthralled. Will definitely be back!

Just got back from Shallow Grange Farm and what an excellent site this is. We stayed on an electric pitch which was fairly large and flat, electric is on a card meter and for the three nights we only used a five pound card. The site doesn't have a play ground or club, but the kids kept themselves busy playing games in the centre of the non electric field and the over flow field and for the adults the Church Inn in Chelmorton serves very good food and has a very friendly landlord. The site has a good clean shower block with washing up and laundry facilities but there's only 3 showers, sinks and loos in both male and female toilets, they did get quite muddy ( even though they are cleaned regularly) after it rained on the Friday and even though it was busy we never had to queue. The site is also a good base to explore Derbyshire, we visited the beautiful villages of Bakewell and Ashford In The Water and we walked up to Monsal Head onto the Monsal Trail. I would definitely recommend Shallow Grange Farm and Marilyn the owner was very friendly and always on hand to help with things and we have never met such nice campers as we did on this site, keep up the good work and we'll be back next year.

Arrived after a week of heavy rain and the owners asked if I could leave our car on the car park field as the site was very wet and soft but not muddy, a good idea so as not to churn up the camping field. The site was great for a quiet week or weekend and the facilities were limited but after all the rain were still spotless and clean with free hot water all round, inc pot wash. The toilet block is quite new and kept tip top. The site is between buxton and bakewell both lovely to visit, and the near by village pub has real ale and welcomes dogs.
All in all a very nice quiet site with friendly and helpful owners who welcome dogs. There is a small fishing pond on site as well.
I would stay here again no problem a lovely site.

Stayed 2 nights with my son as a base for MTB in this area. Plenty of space on the site for each tent to have their own space and organised so it has a wide open area in the centre.
Owners very informative and helpful. Facilities excellent and seemed to be constantly being cleaned. The site is well maintained and has a relaxed atmosphere, located on a working farm but quite low key so no worries about muddy fields and stray animals.
In a great location to strike out to much of the peak districts. Very handy for Buxton for all provisions.

Our first time camping in the new tent! This is a lovely site, the owners were really friendly and helpful. Stayed on the slightly sloping field but it wasn't sloping enough to cause a problem.
Really peaceful and although a few flights overhead and a bit of traffic noise nothing to moan about, it certainly didn't disturb us. We were 4 adults and 4 children in 2 tents.
Loved the picnic tables dotted around the field, we carried one back to our tents and it was really helpful. Shower/toilet/laundry block was great, always kept clean and always hot water.
If you are looking for a site to keep your children entertained then this probably isn't for you, no play area etc but that's not our kind of campsite so we loved it, kids played frisbee and football etc.
We would definitely stay here again. We visited Poole Caverns and walked up to Solomans Temple in Buxton and it was beautiful, thoroughly tired the kids out. Thank you for a lovely stay and a great first camping experience!

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights over Friday and Saturday night. During our stay the weather was not the best which is not the fault of the owner I understand, but on using the toilet and shower facilities the floor was very dirty and muddy. On using the shower the water was barely warm. On finishing my shower there was no mop and bucket to mop out the shower. My husband also confirmed a lack of hot water in the men's shower also. Showers were taken approx 10 am.
We felt that the touring caravan field was small and contained lots of campers. We were asked to put our car in the field at the back as this would stop the turn up of the grass but not everyone adhered to this.
There were lots of children and dogs all around which created lots of noise particularly dogs barking and children running around the caravan after we had retired for the night. Perhaps we should stick to adults only.
We were pitched by a gate which led to the back field where some cars were parked and the gate banged each time someone went through it was let go!
We bought 4 electric cards at £1 each and only used one and was refunded the other 3. We were running a fridge and few lights for the weekend.
Owners very friendly, but we probably will not return again.
