Just got back today from a 2 night stay - and loved it!
This was my first real camping trip and as it was just me and my 4 yr old son - it was always going to be an adventure! pre booked so got a carpark space - definitely recommend this as the carpark is small and gets packed - some cars were blocked in but hopefully by all in the same party! I chose the family field on the owners helpful advice as she pointed out a large family had just pitched and maybe would play with my little one - which was great :) The site is on different levels and the serious campers were happily dotted around all over but mainly on the lowest level - with a lovely stream on that level too - beware there is a bridge crossing though that is an attraction to youngsters believe me - and the stream was running very fast what with the weather!
It rained pretty constantly while we were there - and the first night brought a storm at 5am - but the drainage in the field is excellent :)
Showers get lovely and hot but as mentioned bring your 20p's! there was always piping hot water for washing faces and doing the pots too which was great. Loos did all have toilet roll in aswell - but as advised by everyone we brought our own - we saw the cleaner on our trip but he did actually leave half way through cleaning up and didn't come back the half hour we were there but he left his mop lent up against the wall with all the rubbish in a pile - my only gripe! but he actually chatted to my boy so I actually feel guilty now lol
We left camp at 10am this morning so never saw the 'military style' emptying of the site that has been mentioned previously - my only communication with the ranger was on arrival when he said hello and told me to move into the corner with my car - which turned out to be an absolute perfect spot for us as I backed up and pitched right nxt to the carpark :)
Only other thing of note was the trains (not a problem but definitley in earshot) and could hear the band that was on at the rambler pub down the road on the saturday night (again not at all a problem - but was a bit jealous of the pub goers!)
Site was great and picturesque - perfect as a base for walking - can't wait to go back!

This is a fantastic site, based in Edale with great walking on the doorstep, I have stayed here many times. The last time was April where I walked in. The owners are very welcoming and friendly and also went out of their way to find me a mug as I'd left mine at home. On top of that the pitches are flat and sheltered with nice clean toilets and showers. I would highly recommend this site to anyone wanting to camp in the area, but make sure you book in advance if there are more than a few of you.

Stayed on this site 2 nights (thursday and friday)
Did not book but was not a problem.
£12 for 2 nights, just me, small tent and a motorbike.
Was allowed to have bike on the field next to tent (warden even brought me a piece of wood to stop stand sinking in) this is a huge plus as a biker for security and convenience reasons.
Toilets were clean as was pot washing area. Although someone did sleep in there!
Quiet first night. Noisy second (friday) to be expected I suppose.
Pitches were flat and sheltered by trees.
Only tried the rambler PH (pricey) but great fresh eggs and decent range of beers.
All in all a class site in a fabulous setting. 9/10

Have just come back from a fantastic three day stay at this site.
The management are very friendly and helpful. The shower block is basic but functional with shower's (take twenty pence pieces) and all in all they are ok. The camp site is very well kept and is very clean. There are two pubs within walking distance from the site the ramblers and the nags head which is in edale village itself.
Would highly recommend this site and shall be going back
The views from the site are outstanding and there are plenty of walks for all the ramblers out there.
Edale village itself is picturesque.

Just arrived back after a weekend stay. This is the first time I have stayed at this campsite and I have to say I was really impressed with the site. I got a pitch on the field by the stream with bags of room around our tent I feared that the field may fill through the course of the day but was reassured when I heard the warden telling new campers that arrived that they could only use the top field as the bottom was full which showed to me that they are focussed on creating a nice experience for the customers and not packing as many people in as possible like other campsites that I have used.
There was only a few minor points of inconvience whilst staying, the first is having to park at the train station up the road, however you can reserve a space in the carpark and I would of had I known about this but you are allowed to park the car to unload so it's not that much of a problem. The second point was that I took our dog and all the fields that I saw in the area had signs saying to keep the dog on the lead because of the livestock however if I had a better understanding of the area this probably wouldnt have been a problem. These points pale into insignificance when you see how nice the site is and how peaceful it is. I will definatley return!

Just had a great weekend staying at this lovely little site in Edale.
We were in the family field, right next to the car parking area, which made it very handy for us to unload the car and get things in place for our pitch. The lack of vehicular access to the site was great once we were set up and running - though we can understand why some people found this a disappointment!
The Peak district ranger on the site was great - although a combination of scary and helpful! He actively engaged with our little boy whilst we were pitching and pointed out things of interest to distract him from trying to 'help' us out. And that made for a really relaxing set up process! He lost a few brownie points with the little one when he came around at about 10pm to remind everyone of the curfew and ask people to gather their children together ready for quiet time at 10.30pm. However, we thought that was fantastic and really added to the peace of the weekend!
The next morning he came around again to let people know that they were about to start the waterfall if the children wanted to watch. All in it really added to the sense of caring and pride in the site!
The shower block is ok - none of the doors had locks (in the gents at least) and with a maximum shower time of 6 minutes, you basically had to strip, throw the money in, then slam the door and get showered! Even then it took a little while for the water to warm through - and when the time was up, the water turned off (no prisoners there!)
Edale is lovely. We were there for the Jazz event (though we didn't go down in the end) and the Edale Country Fair. That was brilliant!
The little stream that runs through the site is lovely for paddling and with the Pennine Way starting in the village, what more could a walker want?
Overall a great little site that offered just what we needed for a peaceful, picturesque and fun weekend away.

Good site - the riverside fields were particularly lovely. We had a spot right by the river and it was great. We were probably lucky to get it though cos it was a quiet weekend.
Facilities basic - toilet block not heated and given that it got to minus 5 while we were there it was quite chilly.
I didn't have a shower (we were only there 2 nights I hasten to add) cos you only got 6 mins max and I didn't think I'd have time to rinse my hair (I do have quite long hair). You put your money in outside the cubicle so I decided against it.
My partner did have a shower and he said they were OK . Not great.
Perfect location for the local pubs - both good pubs within a few mins walk, and both let dogs in.
Perfect location for easy walking, or for more strenuous hiking.
It's a drive to the nearest shop.
We would definitely go back but only for weekends - it's ideal for us because we can be there in 40 mins and enjoy a peaceful weekend in a lovely location.
For longer camps I'd want better facilities, and I'd want to park my car on the field with my tent.

A nicely located site, and well laid out for backpackers passing through.
To be honest, I would probably say it wasn't really a campsite for families or large tents as the fields are too small, with little room for kids to play. Also pitches are not marked, again benefiting lightweight campers who can always then find somewhere to fit in prior to the next days walking.
During my stay the weather was torrential, but the site stayed well drained, and there is much to do in the locality. We visited the Magna Science Adventure attraction in Sheffield whilst there which is first rate.
The site wasn't full when we were there, probably on account of the weather, but the showers etc seemed adequate for the numbers actually staying there.

The staff were very nice and helpful. Lovely site that I would recommend. A bit of noise from the trains (which you'll get anywhere in Hope) but not enough to spoil our stay. Facilities were good with one exception, the smell from the men's urinals was awful and needed bleaching or some cubes putting in! (not nice getting the spell of wee when your cleaning your teeth) Some noisy campers after 1100hrs which I guess is hard to police and you'll get on every site.
If you're thinking of staying in Hope this is the site to stay at!

Good location for walking, but it was busy the weekend we were there and the tents were very close together. Rules given about quiet weren't adhered to by some guests and no members of staff enforced the rules. Personally I would try another campsite next time I camp in the Peaks - hopefully where guests are more considerate and it's possible to have more privacy.
