Lovely site. Wardens friendly and helpful and they do enforce the rules which makes the site well run and pleasant to stay at. Very clean site and facilities good (showers use 20p pieces so remember to bring some). Car parking not far from tent area. No caravans (which I think is a bonus!). Vistors Centre on site is great and has a wonderful water feature cascading off the roof. Edale is a fantastic base for walking in the Peaks and needs no advertising from me. Edale village has two pubs, a small shop and a cafe. Food at the pub is OK but not fantastic as some reviewers seem to think. Just 28 miles from Manchester, I shall definitely be returning.

Just had a great weekend with the family at this site. I have stayed before but it was the first time I have taken my partner and her kids camping and they really enjoyed it. The facilities were good, the scenery was fantastic, there were two pubs and a shop within walking distance and plenty to do in the area even when it was raining.
We found the staff helpful, recommending somewhere we could walk with two youngsters, and worked really hard trying to keep things tidy when the site was very busy and everyone very muddy. We were also grateful for them quietening a group who were being noisy after the kids were in bed. Whilst you couldn’t park by your tent, it wasn’t far to walk with our gear and it was much better for the kids to be able to play without any worries.

I Stayed here from the 6th to the 8th and found the site to be very well run, the toilet and shower block was kept clean and tidy, I stayed in the field next to the site office so it was not far to go in the middle of the night to the toilet. I will definitely use this site again, in fact I am going back on the 4th of may for 3 nights.

A group of approx 8 of us stayed here last August bank holiday which unfortunately was miserable weather. All in all, this campsite was fine! The shower block was clean and although putting in the coins took a bit of towel-clad gymnastics, we were all fine with the hot water etc. My only moan was how full it got, we were absolutely crammed in, which (whilst understandable) did reduce the enjoyment factor slightly, and we did feel that the organisation of everyone leaving on the Monday had a distinctly 'military' feel to it, which didn't make for a chilled end to the weekend. Having said that, the location was stunning, the prices good and there were some lovely pubs around the campsite!

It was a very busy and hot July weekend when I stayed on this campsite. We had a friendly welcome on our arrival which is always nice. This is the first campsite I have stayed on where you can't park next to your tent - which after 10 trips to and from the car (not prepared for this I'm afraid) was actually really nice. It may mean more organisation is required but it does make it a much more pleasant site to camp on. The whole feel of the site was really nice and the ground was nicely landscaped. The campsite was set out on two levels - with one level (where we pitched), down by the side of the stream. This made it much more scenic and interesting rather than the usual set out of a big, square, boring field. I must say though - if camping by the river - don't forget the midge spray! The facilities were pleasant and clean - my only gripe was having to pay for the showers (I always stress that the water will cut off when i've a head full of shampoo!) I would rather pay more per night than have unnecessary, petty charges. There is also a shop on-site (which saved us from getting eaten alive by the midges). This campsite is a really good base for lots of walks (we went up kinder scout which is a fantastic hike). Its also set in the lovely village of Edale - which has some nice (and busy) pubs. Would definitely stay here again.

This site is a very short walk from Edale station so is ideal for when you first arrive and for when you need to leave early the next morning on train. The people who run the site are very friendly and welcoming. The facilities are great with areas to wash up, taps, showers and many toilets. There is also a drying room.
The site is quite large and can fit many tents. There is a section of the site for hikers which is across a little bridge over a stream and is enclosed. There are sheep nearby which sometimes sneak into this section! There is a pub nearby as well as a shop and cafe. Overall I would rate this site very highly. I stayed during a bank holiday weekend which was quite crowded, but the rules created by the owners ensure that there is silence between 11pm-7am so you should get a good nights sleep.
The owner also has a field nearby which he uses if the site gets full up, so there should always be somewhere to stay. Although we didn't book in advance and were still able to stay over the bank holiday weekend at the main site.

Brilliant campsite for people arriving on public transport as it’s so close to the train station and the train noise didn’t bother us at all. Excellent clean facilities with great views from the site and many footpaths close by. We used the back packers field over the stream which was quiet so we got to see loads of wildlife. We would definitely recommend this campsite and can’t wait to stay again.

This is one of my favourite sites. Set in the heart of excellent walking country, with fantastic views. A great site for backpackers or people wanting a peaceful break. The site is clean and tidy with a good shower block. This is a walk on site so think about that when your packing.

September 2005 This is a nice campsite, the wardens are very friendly. I didn't have a problem with not being able to park next to tent. It wasn't that far to walk.
They are rebuilding the place so its a bit chaotic. When I booked the pitch, I booked the car parking space so no problems there. Showers nice and hot.
Only problem I had was actually finding the site in the dark with mist coming down. But I will stay there again. Good base for exploring the peaks.

July 2005 Had a wonderful four-night stay at Fieldhead in early July. Very friendly staff, excellent facilities (good showers, clean toilets and a dry washing up area) and ideal for those without vehicles as it is located just a few minutes walk from the train station and all-important pubs. No cars next to tents is always an aesthetically pleasing bonus too :) I look forward to returning.
