I had arranged a days fishing on Rutland Water and required a convenient camp site nearby, as it transpired 'Greendale' is some eight miles away from the trout, but this oversight turned out to be a stroke of good fortune as the site is one of the most tranquil and best kept I have ever encountered.
If you approach the site from Oakhampton the entrance is partially hidden and can easily be missed. Once inside the gate you are immediately aware that a great deal of TLC has been administered in all areas.
Bearing in mind my stay was in the twilight of the 'Holiday' season the hardstanding pitches were all neat and tidy the grass areas between and around the pitches had not been cut they were manicured with flower beds that would not look out of place at 'chelsea'
The toilet blocks were well cared for with hot water in abundance and available 24/7. There was also a small shop on site with a number of essential items available at reasonable prices; this area also provided washing and drying facilities with an information 'board' that told you everything you would ever need to know about the site and the surrounding area, where to go, where to eat and how to get there
All in all a first class site cared for by a professional team with exceptionally high standards.

Simply the prettiest site we have stayed on. Its owners really have everything perfect. Lovely clean loos and shower. Lots of information, washing machine and small shop. Spacious pitches with lovely views and Countryside. The site is located down a small Country lane just 6 miles from Oakham. And 4 miles from Melton Mowbray. An adults only site. The site is covered in flowers and the owners even grow there own herbs which we were given whilst we stayed.
Highly recommended. We will be back.

Our second visit to this lovely small (only 13 pitches) and very well kept adults only site. Hardstanding on all pitches but we were given a pitch with pea gravel and as we had a footprint under our ZIG it was not a problem and the ZIG was very clean when we came to leave.
Owners are very friendly and although there is only one shower each for ladies and gents because the site is so small it was rarely a problem. They were kept immaculately clean.
The White Lion pub in the nearby village (20 minute pleasant walk) is run by an Indian couple and does the best Indian food we have ever had.
We were also blessed with lovely weather for the most part whilst we were there which was a bonus as the area is lovely.
We did the walk around the Hambledon peninsular which is about 7 miles long and a fairly easy walk and gives spectacular views of Rutland Water.
Gates garden centre in Cold Overton is well worth a visit and has a lovely cafe.
Foxton Locks on the Grand Union Canal is about 20 miles away but is well worth a visit.
We can thoroughly recommend this site.

Just spent a peaceful week at this lovely site, enjoyed it so much I am going back next week! As a lone camper, I was warmly welcomed by the site owners, other staff and campers, which was lovely.
The site itself, is beautifully maintained and has a constant stream of wildlife attracted to the many bird feeders. The facilities are also immaculate and shop, tourist information and welcome pack provide you with everything you could possibly want to know.
Rutland water and Oakham are both close by and are great for walking or bike riding. Oakham has some good places to eat and some nice little shops, and market on a Saturday. From the campsite itself I found walking up and down the lane into the village was really nice and rarely came across cars en route.
I was looking for a place to relax and unwind, and could not have found a more ideal location. With the friendly owners as well, it made a perfect holiday.

We have just returned from a very wet and windy stay at Greendale. Despite the weather we had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed our time at the site.
Ian and Sue are both very helpful and take great pride in their site which shows in all areas from the washing up area right through to the shower and toiler block.
Along with other campers and caravanners we celebrated the Diamond Jubilee at a BBQ organised on site by Sue and Ian, we had a great afternoon even though the heavens opened near the end.
We will definitely be returning next year and are really looking forward to it.

Excelent site, Friendly and extremely helpful, welcome pack one of the best we have ever seen, directions as to the best way to approach the site were spot on and a good job we followed them as coming in from the village would have been almost impossible to turn into the site.
Everywhere was clean and tidy with a small on site shop packed full of local information as to best places to eat and visit. Owners and wardens very helpful, lent us ice blocks on a very hot day.
If I had to find a fault it would be that some of the pitches are a bit close to each other, but not really a problem.
We will definitely go back and would recommend this to anyone

On arrival we were met by the owners who went out of their way to help us settle in at the pitch as the ground was snow covered. The site is very cute with lovely views and the owners went out of there way to make us feel very welcome and they were very helpful and friendly. Even though the site was snow covered ,access to the site was very easy. The facilities were very clean and warm. Local amenities were a ten min walk from the site with a local village shop and pubs that served good food

Spent a week at this lovely quiet site, the welcome from Ian & Sue was very friendly. We received an information pack which contained everything we needed to know and could be kept for the duration of our stay.
This site is a real gem very small but so well kept, its like camping in a friends garden. It has been mentioned that caravans are close together but we didn't find this they are not in straight lines to make the best of the available space, may seem close because site is small. If you like peace and quiet you will love this site, there is no road noise only bird song, lovely.
Its easy to see why they have awards for green issues as this is a big priorty to Ian and Sue. The toilet block is spotless and everything is tidy and well cared for.
There are nice villages to see and Rutland Water is great for walking and cycling. Actually I shouldnt praise the site to highly as I will have difficulty trying to book a return visit, if everyone finds out about this little gem.
Just to add a big thank you to Sue for moving the bird feeder for our pleasure, and also for looking after a lady on site whose husband was taken to hospital.
This lady could not drive and was taken to visit her husband by Sue even though her own mum was not well at the same time and in a different hospital.
The relief wardens also deserve a mention as they garden and help out where needed to cover, doing far more than asked. All in all cant really fault it just keep up the good work.

We have just returned from our first visit to Greendale Farm. A beautiful site, so relaxing even in a dying hurricane (awning and satellite dish tied down with multi guy ropes.
Very quite site and advanced booking will be required whilst we were there as a pitch emptied it was raked, grass trimmed and someone else arrived to occupy the pitch.
There is one toilet/ shower each for males and females. A small shop for all necessities with an honesty box for any sales.
As Sue said to us on departure 'arrive as a camper leave as a friend'.

This was truly one of the best sites we have visited. The site was superbly maintained with lovely gardens. It was quiet and peaceful, in a rural setting, and there was plenty of wildlife to see, with bird feeders scattered around the site.
With its small size of only 14 pitches we soon got talking to other visitors, many of whom had been to the site several years running and we could tell why. We will certainly visit again.
What made the stay extra special were the site owners, Sue and Ian, and their 2 relief wardens, who were very welcoming and went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyable.
The site was was a short walk to the village of Whissendine where there was a small shop that we used to buy a daily paper. It was only a short drive to a larger supermarket and on site you could purchase a range of items, including the emergency ice cream!
The facilities were very clean and more than adequate for this small site.
Potential days out include the market town of Melton Mowbray where local produce can be purchased from the farmers market. We also visited Rutland Water which is excellent for walking or cycling.
