We just had 5 days at this lovely adults only site. Only 13 pitches and although there are only one toilet and shower for men and similar for ladies it never seemed a problem as they were kept immaculately clean at all times.

Site is very rural and quiet. The owners did a full breakfast on the Sunday in their conservatory and it was very good. Will second the comments about the local pub Indian food as it was some of the best we have ever had.

Rutland water is lovely and we had a trip on the Rutland Belle, a cruiser on the lake.

The whole area is somewhere we had never been or really thought to visit but we would recommend it if you like quiet and definitely recommend the site.

Spent just a couple of nights here during May half term week. Lovely peaceful site, great that there are no children (we are both teachers so nice to have a break).

Caravans are quite close to each other as the site is very compact, but we didn't find this a problem. Ian & Sue are really helpful. Everything about the site, including the toilets & showers, is spotless.

We appreciated the on-site shop (open 24/7 with honesty box) full of essentials and carefully selected local produce, and the library of books and local maps/guides.

Whissendine village is just a short stroll down the lane - the pub serving Indian food is excellent. A must-visit in Whissendine is the working windmill which, if you are lucky, you can have a tour around (don't wear your best clothes though!) - make sure you buy some flour for your bread maker and help to keep this wonderful local business and historic building going!

Nearby Oakham is worth a visit, as is Rutland Water (take your bikes or hire them there). We had a really enjoyable two days in the area and would love to have stayed longer.

First class caravan park. Beautifully maintained pitches which allow a little privacy. The sun shone all weekend we were there which was an added bonus.

Toilets were spotless, only one shower but I never found myself waiting as there's only about 15 pitches on the whole site. The owners are very welcoming, which is nice after any journey (try not to come through Melton Mowbray town centre which we did as it is a bit tight in places).

The village is a good 15 minute walk away, the shop in the village is well stocked and both pubs allowed dogs in which is great. We tented here a few years ago and so our return visit in our caravan lived up to our fond memories of this place.

The honesty shop was fantastic too, after tea we wandered down and treated ourselves to an ice cream, leaving the money in the pot - brilliant.

There is a small swimming pool here and lots of information available including bikes and OS maps to hire out. Will definitely return - a real gem of a place. Adults only.

We spent a wonderful weekend at Greendale Farm Park. Did I say wonderful? It rained all night Friday and all day Saturday, and we had a dead car battery on Saturday. But despite this we had a great time, and that says a great deal about the campsite.

We had a warm welcome. The site is well thought out and exceedingly well maintained. The wee shop is a bit or a Tardis with lots more in it than you would expect. Tons of local information is on hand, bits and bobs to buy or borrow, and a great site info and local guide book is given with each pitch. Loo facilities were small but very clean. We went to the indian pub in the village on Sue's recommendation and it was one of the best we've ever had.

This was a return to camping after more years than I would like to admit, and I can't imagine a better place for it. We will be back!

From the minute you arrive at this small site you are made to feel welcome, you are given an information folder which is very useful and comprehensive. Sue and Ian work so hard, nothing is too much trouble for them, even offering to lent a fellow caravanner a small television when their set didn't work, the TV reception is perfect here although you really don't need a TV, there is lots to do and see in Rutland

The showers and toilets on site are kept so clean, there is a small shop and laundry facilities are available, we were very grateful for this having come straight from another site. Everything is so neat and tidy and wildlife in encouraged.

Rutland is quite a find for us, our first visit and it won't be our last, make sure to take you bikes if possible. Lots of interesting towns and stately houses, airfields and museums, we found the locals to be so friendly, whilst out and about we needed to find a vet and was quickly and accurately directed to a practise in Oakham where we received second to none treatment for our little dog.

If you are looking for a quite, friendly, no smoking, adults only site it will be hard to find anywhere better.

We received a warm and friendly welcome from sue. It is a beautiful and well maintained site toilet block was always clean and the honesty box in the shop was a lovely touch, well stocked and loads of books to read, and information about the local area.

We loved to watch the birds feeding from the seed boxes witch were filled everyday. Sunday breakfast is a lovely idea to get to know the people who are staying with them.

We are booked to return in september for a week and we cant wait. All the sites we have visited in 25 years of caravanning this has to be the best, Ian &Sue are a lovely couple always willing to help.

As everyone has said before - absolutely immaculate site. Owners very welcoming and very knowledgeable about area.

Shop well stocked and plenty of reading material available. Pool not open when we visited - but looked like it would be lovely to sit around on a nice day. Birds galore and bird feeders on every pitch to keep you amused.

Overall it certainly is a lovely little site and the owners work hard to keep it that way.

Any negatives? for us the site was a bit cramped - very little space between outfits, although actual pitches were fine. Worth a visit if you are looking for a lovely site with plenty to do in the area.

We stayed early September and had lovely weather. Its a very neat site with clean facilities. Good showers with plenty of hot water. The couple who run it are very helpful and full of useful info. It is a 'green' site and they encourage re-cycling.
There's a 24-hour shop on site with an honesty box. A heated swimming pool is available for those brave enough! About a 20 min walk away is the village with 2 pubs. The White Lion has the best Indian cuisine we have ever tasted. They have an English menu too! Everard's beer is sold there. Well worth a visit. We didn't visit the other pub as it rarely seemed to be open.
You catch the regular bus service in the village. Ideal place for visiting Rutland Water, Barnsdale Gardens,Oakham and Melton Mowbray. But why visit Melton Mowbray? Would return.

This is a lovely site. Ian and Sue are really friendly and helpful. Yes there are some rules but most of them are just common sense any way - they were not over the top as in previous reviews. The pack that Sue gave us on arrival was an invaluable source of information.

There is a fantastic shop with an honesty box system that works really well. The pork pie pickle was lovely and made in the village and the free range eggs were superb. There is a cool block exchange facility which is really useful for campers with cool boxes but there is also a small fridge that campers can use as well. The showers were spotless but there is only one in each block - but I only queued twice. There is hand cream and body lotion in the ladies.

The village of Whissendine is approx 1/2 mile away down the lane that runs behind the campsite and the village pubs were another 1/2 a mile walk into the village. We did the walk every night and it took us appox 15 minutes. The White Lion pub serves fantastic Indian meals and on a Wednesday there is a special offer set menu which was fantastic value for money. The Three Horsehoes is great for socialising with the locals and we made friends in there from the village. Also the 'Abbot Ale' is superb. They do not do food though.

The site is very quiet but unfortunately the local farmer was busy up and down the lane on his tractor quite early in the mornings and this tended to wake us with a start! I suspect this is because its harvesting time and he was busier than normal. The birds are well catered for here and it was lovely to see such a variety. We even watched some fledge their nesting box.

All in all we would return to this site but maybe not during harvest time!

I camped for the first time ever at Greendale Farm Park, Whissendine and really enjoyed the experience.

The site was fortunately small and quiet with a warm welcome from the lady who runs the place. It had a well-stocked honesty shop which had lots of fliers for things to do in the Rutland area (quite a few).

Shower facilities were clean and very good. I didn't try the pool. Very civilised!

We would certainly come back.
