We spent two nights camping at Greendale Farm this week, and we had a very good time. The site is easy to find, clean, very well-manicured and attractive. The flowers were particularly beautiful. The facilities were very clean and well-maintained.
One of the most impressive aspects of this site is the atmosphere. Sue and Ian are very welcoming and approachable; the other campers were lovely and there was a feeling around the site that everyone was on the same wavelength. The site operates on an honesty basis, including the shop where you write down anything you have purchased or borrowed in a designated notepad (in the case of ice packs or books / literature) and you leave any money owed in a little box.
We also really enjoyed the pool, so much so that we unfortunately had to leave a day early because of sunburn! As a result we didn't get to venture out into the surrounding area, but I am confident that if we had, Sue and Ian would have had plenty of suggestions as to where we could go and what we could do. The shop/library had loads of information about the area in the form of pamphlets and maps, as well as books that you could check out to give you a history of the area (and even one book on the history of the Melton Mowbray pork pie!).
In all, we were very impressed. I can't compare it to any other sites or experiences because this was our first time camping away in a tent, but having gone out in a campervan the year before and seeing other sites down in the Southwest of England, I can say that this is one of the best I've ever been to. I'm very pleased that I stumbled across Greendale Farm on the UK Campsite website!

We have just stayed at Greendale for a week and we didn't want to come home.
This campsite is adult only and is so peaceful all you hear are the birds chattering away on one of the many feeders that are kept constantly full.
There is a shop on site that sells local produce and most other things you are likely to forget or run out of.
It was really hot while we were there but the swimming pool was a welcome relief and is kept immaculate, as is the rest of the site and gardens.
The site is really easy to find especially from the A1 at Grantham or Stamford'
Rutland is absolutely beautiful with plenty to see and do. Altogether we had a fantastic week and would like to thank Sue and Ian for being wonderful hosts the site is a real credit to them and all their hard work.

Simply a great site! Probably the best we have stayed on other than one or two over the Channel and we have been camping, caravanning and motorhoming since 1964.
We have recently returned from spending nearly a week there; a very wet time! The welcome from Ian and Sue is extraordinary and we were made to feel very special right from the start.
The site, with its emphasis on green issues, is superbly maintained even under adverse weather conditions. The flora and fauna are pandered to and we saw some amazing species up close.
Unfortunately my wife was poorly for most of our stay so we could not sample much of the surrounding area. We did however venture into Oakham and had a look at Rutland Water both of which are thoroughly recommended.
This is a small site and adult only simply because it is unsuitable for children. The peace and quiet were much appreciated and we were able to charge our batteries ready for the following week with our 9 year old granddaughter at Pembrey Country Park!

This site was amazing and Sue was just adorable. Every pitch had electric hook-up and our pitch (7) also had a water tap so filling up the kettle was a doddle. We visited this site on probably the wettest couple of days in August with two of our friends who hadn't been camping before.
Our pitch was ideally situated for a tent ie, on the edge of the site and upwind, as we had lots of rain we spent plenty of time in the tent, being on the edge of the campsite we were less worried about spoiling the tranquil atmosphere.
The facilities were great, the toilets were spotless and the hot showers were a welcome break to the cold rain! Loved the shop which I must say was very reasonably priced and came in very handy as the co-op had burnt down and the local pub was minus a chef.
I would highly recommend this site to anyone wanting a calm and relaxing break.

We read the reviews on this site before going and couldn't wait to see it for ourselves. This is a quiet secluded beautiful site with excellent facilities which were spotless. Very helpful and friendly owners who keep the grounds in first class condition. There is also a small shop with the best bacon and free range eggs I have tasted in a long time. Another site to add to our favourites list.

This site is a hidden gem in the heart of England. We visited this site in May and loved it so much we revisited 2 weeks later and have plans to visit again in September.
It is quiet, friendly and has everything you can ask for in a small site. We even tried the heated swimming pool which was fantastic. The temperature of the pool was almost 30 degrees.
There are plenty of birds and wildlife to watch and listen to, and the villages surrounding the site are lovely and quiet. Cycling around the area is a dream, with very quiet lanes.
Sue and Ian are superb owners and are avaiable all the time with help and advice.
We love this site and cannot wait to visit again.
Sue and Ian please do not change anything about the site as it is as perfect as it can be.

How do you describe Paradise? I tend to judge a book by its cover, and campsites the same! Beautiful immaculate lawns, pretty shrubs and trees. Sparkling pool, bird feeders, spotlessly clean toilets and showers. Ian and Sue welcomed us in such a friendly helpful manner, explaining about the site and its facilities and local eateries in the village, places of interest near and far. It is such a peaceful campsite.
Loved the the Honesty Shop-you could buy supplies at any time day or night, providing you put the money in the pot listing items you purchased. How wonderful. Also they provided tea and coffee making facilities for you whilst browsing the lending library (how cool is that)? Nice selection of homemade local produce in shop. Sue's Sunday breakfast was a feast. The waiter was wonderful too (Thanks Ian). Had a wonderful Wedding Anniversary during our stay, Thank you Sue and Ian. Hardworking but never too busy to have a chat. WILL BE BACK AGAIN

What a gorgeous campsite! We had been looking at reviews about this site for ages and it was at the top of our to-visit list. We have just returned from a three night stay and have booked for a return trip. It truly is a little peach of a place sooo peaceful, to come home to traffic noise and people is a bit of a shock. Sue and Ian are so lovely and helpful and go out of their way to make your stay superb. The facilities are spotless, we never had to wait for a shower or to use the loos. You get handed an information pack on arrival which is packed with loads of details. Yes there is one page of rules but they are more common sense than anything else. The atmosphere here would not be the same if there was loud music or kids running around, it truly is a very special place. Ashamed to say we did not know any of the birds that were everywhere so must improve on our bird spotting skills for our next visit. It was lovely to wake every morning and listen to the birds singing. This is a very eco-friendly site and Sue and Ian work very hard to make it all run as smoothly as it does. The village is very pretty , just a short walk away and Oakham is well worth a visit, cant wait to return!

Visited over the early bank holiday weekend and Sue made a point of mentioning the last review and showed me that there weren't 6 pages of rules at all (she'd added an extra couple of pages in the meantime ;0).Only joking sue ! altho I can understand the previous reviewers comments I saw the little notices as 'reminders' not 'rules' and lets face it some people do need reminding !
Anyhow a nice site, quite small compared to others we visited but very much a 'nature' site with the birds, the sheep in the next field and wild fauna, quite rural but some lovely towns within travelling distance. Facilities were adequate only one toilet and shower in the mens but with a small site that was ok.
Overall would recommend a stay here and dont worry about the rules ;0)

Nice spot, shame about all the rules. We had to read a rule book (about 6 pages worth) within minutes of our arrival.
The camp site itself was very pleasant with plenty of flowers and bird tables if a little cramped and the facilities, including recycling, excellent.
We liked the area, especially Stamford, a lovely old town, full of character.
