Just returned from 4 wonderful days at Greendale. This really is a little gem of a site, Only 15 pitches but because of the pitch rotation to protect the grass there is ample room for each unit. Sue and Ian really work hard to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and if your stay includes a Sunday morning be sure to take advantage of the cooked breakfasts on offer. Whissendine is only a 15 minute walk away with an old windmill which the owner is happy to take you around. There is also a Bistro and 2 excellent pubs , both serving a wide range of good beers. Rutland water is only about 7 miles away and from there boat trips, cycle hire, the Butterfly farm and nice walks are available to fill your day and empty your wallet. The site itself is spotless with a small shop for basic provisions and ample brochures about the surrounding area, there is also a small lending library. Showers and toilets were very clean and plenty of hot water always available, electric hookups are available to every pitch. There is also a small solar heated pool (Not enough time to try it out). There are a number of house rules which are only common sense when you think about it. The work Sue and Ian have put into this is apparent at every turn. What ever you do though don't damage the grass unduly, Careless emptying of hot water after cooking for instance will incur considerable wrath (Quite rightly so). This is a very ECO friendly site. Plenty of wildlife with Bird Feeders visible from each pitch, wild bird seed, feeders available for purchase an endless variation of bird life, rabbits, squirrels not to mention the cows and sheep in the adjoining fields. All in all a truly wonderful place to get away from it all for a few days, difficult to find any fault at all.

My wife and I have just returned from a most enjoyable and relaxing week at Greendale. We were made very welcome from the moment we arrived. Throughout the whole week, nothing was too much trouble for the owners Ian and Sue. Facilities were spotless and the Sunday Breakfasts(bookable in advance) were exceptionally good in terms of value and quality; they are mostly made using local produce. The peace and quiet was the major plus point for us. We are already looking at dates for a longer stay next season.

This is a lovely small site very peaceful the owners could'nt be more helpful. Got a small swimming pool afraid it was a bit cold to go in as it was only the begining of May, but we have booked again so hope we can enjoy pool and no children to spoil the peace. They have got a small site shop, and a lending library. there is a small shower block kept very clean, all caravan pitches have got electricity. It is a 15 minute stroll into the village. Can recommend this site.

This is a lovely tranquil site in the heart of Rutland. The owners Sue & Ian keep the site immaculate, are friendly and helpful. The site has electric hookups with grass pitches and gravel hardstandings. The small toilet block is spotless. There is a shop which sells the basics and local produce such as eggs, bacon preserves etc. There are information leaflets and the owners have provided books including local walks, cycle routes, and menus & visitors comments for the local pubs (sounded delicious). The shop has a library for use by guests (mostly paperback novels).
On site is a small "solar heated" swimming pool for guest use. It is a 10 minute walk into the village with its pubs and small shop. There is a good public bus service every hour into Oakham (worth a visit) and Melton Mowbray. This Adults only site is one of the best I have been to and will be visited again I'm sure,If you want to Chill Out,this is the place.

We took a detour a couple of days ago to take a look at this site. Absolutely beautiful. The facilities (shower blocks, bird feeders within view from each pitch, coffee and tea making facilities, small shop with local produce) are excellent. It's a small site which is obviously lovingly cared for. Adults only and seems very quiet. Can't wait until next year to try out our new vango diablo in these lovely surroundings.

We have just returned from our stay at Greendale Farm Park and are delighted with our visit! The site is lovely and flat, clean, spacious and well set out. The owners are very friendly and helpful, the toilet blocks are beautifully clean and the showers are nice and hot.
The local pub was close enough to "crawl" home from, which was most convenient! We WILL be returning! ps. the bacon for sale in the site shop is fantastic!

We just returned from our first weekend here and had a lovely relaxing time. This place is beautifully landscaped and spotless. It is a very small site with only 15 pitches and is perfect if you are looking for peace and quiet. there is a small swimming pool which you need to book to use in advance (unfortunatly the weather just wasnt warm enough for our stay) a self service shop selling quite a range of basics. A fridge for guest use and also a freezer for doing your own ice blocks which was really helpful. There is 1 shower in both mens and womens toilet/bathroom block plus one vantity area with sink etc. They were always both spotless and never really busy. We never had a wait for a shower and they were lovely and warm. The owners of this site were really helpful and friendly and made our stay enjoyable. So if its peace and quiet on a small site you are looking for then this is for you. People who want a more lively site amy not appreciate this sites atmosphere.

Had 2 fabulous days at this site and would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to have a quiet stay in a small, rural site which is maintained to impeccably high standards. There are a lot of "rules" but to be honest these are there to ensure a much more pleasant environment for all. Dogs must be kept under strict control at all times and there are no dog walking facilities as such on site, however, there is a quiet country lane which runs past the site and leads to a very pleasant village only a 15 minute walk away.

May 2005 Chris and I went and had a look around this site yesterday and wow! If your looking for a small, quiet, adults only site then this is the place for you. We only live 20 miles away but will definately be giving this a go as soon as we get our caravan up and running again. With a site shop, breakfast served on Sunday's and a small swimming pool what more could you ask for. The owners were so helpful and had no problem in letting us look round, some sites we visit before staying don't always like you looking round. The toilets and showers were very clean which was in keeping with the whole site. We would highly recommend this site

August 2004 This is one of the best backpackers sites I have ever used. Facilities are excellent, especially the HOT showers (free). It's peaceful after a long day's walk, but there is a nice village close by and two excellent public houses where a day on the trail can be washed away.
BUT.....IS'NT THERE ALWAYS A BUT....a pitch on this site is as rare as hens teeth and a backpacker cannot always know exactly when he/she is going to arrive or want to depart. A little more flexibility so far as 'booking in advance' is concerned may encourage more support.
Still a wonderful site though.
