A nice site once you get onto it, but the entrance is something of a challenge! The turning into the site is immediately round a blind bend and, because of the stream, doesn't give any margin for error. Also, the road from the site is quite narrow and we saw a caravan struggle to get past other traffic coming in the opposite direction.
The facilities are clean, although the taps are very fierce and I found the toilet block flooded on one occasion because the tap had failed to cut off.
Because we went the week before Spring Bank holiday, the pool wasn't open but looked as though it would be very good later in the summer.
Also, the shop was only open from 8 am to 10 am so we didn't use that either.
One thing we did find strange was that, although there were not many units on site whilst we were there, those that were there seemed to be put into small groups on the site. The pitch we had was not massive and we couldn't understand why they had not spread the units out more.
We went on a Red Funnel 5 night deal, which was very good value.

The 'nightly entertainment' advertised on their website is apparently only put on during peak season. We were also informed by the lady on reception that the pitch and putt course, also advertised on their website, wasn't available.
On the plus side, the toilet and shower facilities were clean and the site is well maintained. The independently run on-site cafe is excellent, with friendly staff. We can certainly recommend their Red Thai Curry!

Stayed on this site over Easter - it was very clean and well run - the pitches were quite level with water and electric - Toilets and shower rooms were cleaned through the day with plenty of hot water at all times.
Lovely setting - plenty of local walks and easy access to explore the island.
Camp has a shop which was well stocked and also a good sized bar. The swimming pool is a good size although was not in use early season. The play park for children was well thought out and not just boring swings (Chloe's comment 11 years old)
We would recommend this site to all.

Well, just returned from a 5 night stay, what a great site! Site was fairly level, pitches were a good size, we pitched an Outwell Utah 6 and a 2 man 'pup' tent with our trailer and car with room to spare. Toilet/shower block was very clean throughout our stay, no waiting and plenty of hot water (although the site wasn't that busy) Our boys loved the pool which was warm even at this time of year. We used the cafe on our 1st night and the food was very nice and reasonably priced. The bar was cosy and didn't feel at all crowded, but again, we were there late in the season. The staff were very helpful and worked very hard to ensure that you had a pleasant stay. All in all an excellent site, well placed for most of the attractions, but far enough away for that bit of peace and quiet! We will definitely visit again. Many thanks.

Just spent our first ever week on the isle of Wight, we stayed at this site. The site was very clean, had a great little cafe and a nice small friendly bar. Its got a nice outdoor pool which was heated (cold when you first get in but you soon get used to it and it feels rather nice), they did have a baby pool but it only had about 2inch of water in it and was never used.
They have a shop on site but I would say they need to have a re-think about it as it was a big space and not a lot in it.
The pitches were nice and big but (and its a very big but) they were close together, they are so close together you cant walk between peoples tents, you have to stick to the footpaths. We had 4 other tents so close to our tent they sounded like they were standing outside your door talking.
This is a very busy site (which is why I think the spaces are close together) yet they only have one toilet/shower block so we did have to wait a while if we didn't time it right. You also need to time it right for hot water (very early morning or late at night is best) They need more shower/toilet blocks (I must point out at this stage that the one block they did have was very clean)
They have a nice play park which my kids loved (aged 10 and 7) every time we was on camp we never seen them as they was playing in it.
If you want a site with a nice outdoor pool a nice cafe and a nice little bar, a site which is nice and clean and a play park the kids with like then this is the park to pick (it was a nice park)
One other point I would make is, at the moment the entrance/exit is the same way in as it is out and its just big enough for one car, no good when one car is coming in and one going out and both cars are towing.

Just returned from a lovely week on the Isle of Wight. This campsite was a perfect location for visiting the island. Only a short drive or 30 minute walk from the beautiful village of Godshill, well worth a visit.
Our campsite was quiet and friendly and great for the kids as it is only small.
They have a lovely little pool area with a cafe with a grass seating area serving nice food to eat in or take away. Our kids loved the pool, we noticed a few people have said the water was cold but it seemed fine to us. We all managed to go in with the dog tied to a table just up on the grass so we could see him ok.
The bar opens at 7pm and has a good variety of entertainment to cater for everyone, there is also a pool table and darts board.
We used the laundry room which has several washers(3x£1 coins) and dryers(20p per 8 minutes) and a couple of ironing boards and irons which are 20p, not sure for how long.
Shower and toilet block were clean the majority of the time. As well as the main shower block there are some more just past the laundry room, which for me were better as the others were quite badly scaled up which meant you only had a trickle of water coming out, definitely in need of some limescale remover! Oh! and the water gets cold really quickly so time your showers right.
We would say the pitches around the edge of the site are best for caravans as they are level, our pitch was sloping and wasn't too bad, we did have help levelling it out from the staff.
We would recommend this small child friendly site as a nice quiet place to stay with just the right amount of entertainment for the kids. Please, please sort the shower heads out though!

We have just returned from this site. We loved it here. The children spent hours at the park and in the pool. The showers and toilet blocks were clean, tidy and with an ample supply of hot water. There is a shop which stocks essentials like bread, milk etc and the evening entertainment programme is varied. The site is very quiet and we had no problem with any noise.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday here and we have had such a wonderful time.
The staff worked non stop to ensure the site is always clean and tidy.
Our son loved the large spacious swimming pool, and and the chance to experience Scuba diving (an extra cost but well worth it). There was a play park and a meadow for him to get rid of some energy.
We were on pitch 49 and found it to be a very large pitch indeed. The shower and toilet facilities were always clean. My only point would be maybe they could do with a few more showers and a larger area for washing up in.
They are minor complaints as we found the site to be one of the best ones we have ever been to and look forward to going back again soon.

I loved this site, so much so we have already reserved our pitch for 2010 ! It is well run, extremely clean, and has very friendly staff.
The site is close to most of the island attractions, but far enough away to be peaceful.
The site facilities are all brilliant, shop, bar & Pool, with one exception - The showers !
Although the showers are modern, the pressure & temperature are too inconsistent, and with peak season, queues were horrendous, luckily we had a shower in our van, so not too much of an issue, but this area does need to be looked at for future & improved, I even tried the 'Old' Shower block by the laundry, but I may aswell have dunked myself in an ice bath, they were so cold.
But do not be put off by this, the site is lovely, and has everything you need for an excellent holiday - Highly Recommended

Just returned from a great family holiday at Appuldurcombe, our 3 kids (aged 4,6+7) loved it. Site is only 5 mins from Ventnor and only slighty further from Shanklin and Sandown which are lovely traditional family resorts.
Pitches are large and grass well tended as is the whole site. Swimming pool is extremely clean and busy but never felt overcrowded. Bar/clubroom really good. Its a fine line between being entertaining for adults and kids without becoming like Butlins. Appuldurcombe pull it off really well with a different theme each night of the week (Limbo / Magician / Disco.Etc) and all over by 11pm!
A couple of slight negatives were;
There were only 4 showers and 3 toilets in each of the mens and ladies and for such a large number of pitches this meant they were stretched. Water pressure was often very poor when all showers were running. To the sites credit the owner worked really hard keeping them beautifully clean.
The second is the dish washing area only has 3 sinks in a very cramped space, so be prepared to wait at busy times.
It would not put me off from visiting again as its a really well looked after site and a credit to its owners.
