Usually use Wight Link with Tesco vouchers but as we tow a small car found them no good as wanted to charge for two vehicles. Site recommended Red Funnel who, quite rightly, have a 13metre length so it was a great package including site fees (for 5 nights only).
This was our second visit and site much improved with lovely variety of pitches and good new toilet block. This was nice and warm and clean but very surprised to find they didn't have privacy wash cubicles - people don't want to line up using wash basins these days and it puts less strain on showers.
The little bar is really nice but it is a shame they don't open at say 6pm as many people like a drink before their meal (it opened at 745pm).
Lovely dog walks just up from site entrance with great footpath to Godshill or big field with walks up to the House.
Ventnor is a nice place, very hilly, but if its not busy good to park on the front and sit in the sun outside some of the coffee bars. There is bus service from main road close to site.
Overall excellent site beautifully kept.

Just come back from a lovely week in the Isle of Wight, staying at the Appuldurcombe Gardens.
Very quite campsite with excellent facilities would recommend anyone to go there.
Never been to a campsite which is so quite during the day let alone at night, most people are in there accommodation by 9pm at night.
Campsite is close to Shanklin Beach which is a must to visit.
The Needles is another good place to visit, however be prepared to spend quite a bit of money and get there early.
Looking at returning to Isle of Wight next year.

Beautiful setting at this site with lots of wildlife around. Lovely quiet site at all times, only owls calling at night which was very restful!
We didn't use the club house and I guess things were winding down but the swimming pool looked more like a pond being green and full of leaves, shame wouldn't have minded a late dip!
There was a new looking shower block which was lovely and warm but again whether the staff were cut down in Sept. I don't know but it was not cleaned as it should have been. The toilets were squirted with cleaner sometimes weren't wiped around the seats and the toilet roll holders were covered in dust. The showers which were the push button sort that shut off after every 10 seconds were lovely and warm but a pain when trying to wash hair ! The cubicles were not cleaned very well, tiles on wall were yellow near the floor, hair in the grills, talc smears for days on the floor and there was quite a large stone in one cubicle the whole time we were there ( I removed a baby toad one evening!). I'm sorry but my pet hate is unclean toilets and showers! Such a shame!
There is a Spar type shop within a few minutes walk from site in Wroxall which sells more or less everything from baby's bottles to needles and thread not to mention food galore or there is a Morrisons and Lidl at Lake which is only a short ride away.
Nice walks around the site, walk into Godshill across the fields. Donkey sanctuary just through Wroxall also within walking distance.
Having moaned about the lack of cleaning we would go back at some point hoping there would be different cleaners! I think UKCampsite.co.uk should do a rating how many out of 10 for cleanliness too please!

I have stayed at this campsite on three occasions, each visit has been exceptional. Most of the pitches are level and most are large enough for our very large out well Florida 6. The campsite is very well run with regular rubbish collections, regular cleaning of shower and toilet facilities which are some of the best washing and shower facilities I have seen at whilst camping. The campsite offers areas where the children can play ball games away from the tents as well as an outdoor swimming pool ( which is on the cold side!) and playground. The entertainment is low key and friendly which I like the most about this campsite, regular activities and competitions are organised for the children too. The campsite is set next door to appuldurcombe house, which is well worth a look and also set in some beautiful countryside for walking.
I would highly recommend this campsite to anyone wishing to visit the Isle of Wight which is a beautiful island to explore.

A great campsite. It is nice and central to the main attractions of the island, with too many to list.
It is a medium size site with an outside heated pool, cafe/take away and club house. The cafe/Take away is small with a limited menu, while on site we used it twice. The food was very good and all freshly cooked. The club is large enough for the site and the area is very well laid out especially if the weather is good. The Club entertainment was more for the kids.
The pool area - Club - Cafe/Take away - Swings are in a square area and very well laid out. With a sun terannce & loungers around the pool. We were lucky with the weather and it did feel like we were abroad.
My only moan would be that the take away cooks everything to order which is great, but takes time. The club does not open until 1900, therefore I was unable to get a pint while I waited for the food to be cooked. I feel the site is missing a trick not making use of the bar during the day, especially with the hot weather or showing football.
There are two shower blocks, which were spotless the whole time and were perfect.
We had a really good pitch, however some of the pitches looked small. So I would recommend asking the question on booking.
I would come back to this site.

Lovely campsite, great for families, our pitch was level and near to the old facilities block which was clean and the showers were warm if you ran the sink taps first!
My 10 year old made loads of friends at the play park and at the club in the evening which was great for him. He didn't want to go out anywhere because of it!
The club entertainment was pretty good and drinks were reasonably priced.
The shop was ok but had really odd opening hours. The cafe sold nice hot food at good prices. We had a pizza which was very tasty and the kids loved the milk shakes.
The pool was clean but unmanned so kids must be supervised but there were plenty of loungers around the edge and the water was warm once you got used to it.
Nearby godshill is a lovely little village to visit and has a couple of good pubs catering for families.
Black gang chine is the best kids attraction around and appuldurcombe falconry centre is worth a visit, it also has a kids play barn so is good if the weather is a bit iffy. Displays can also be done uncover and it seems like they need visitors support at the moment as things are slow for them.
All in all we would definitely return to the iow and appuldurcombe camping park.

This site was easy to find and the pitches clearly marked out and relatively spacious. By the middle of a two week holiday however, I had many grumbles but found every time I went to reception during the advertised opening hours, it was shut. When I finally got reception and asked them for a customer comment form I was told to put it on here or trip advisor, so here it is. First impressions were great but regular use of the two shower blocks found they often appeared to have lacked from good cleaning with dirty walls and marks seen days before having not been cleaned away. The dust and cobwebs on window sills, plants, hairdryer units and corners of floors clearly indicated that more thorough cleaning was needed. Sometimes showers in both male and female toilets were barely warm and I found in the mornings there was usually a queue. There was no welcome pack other than a pitch layout plan and as there was entertainment each evening, cafe and shop, all of which had very random opening hours it would have been nice to have this information to hand. We were approx half way down the main field, which is far from the club, and the noise was still loud some evenings, but did seem to finish usually before 11pm. You can pre order papers from the shop but in two weeks, three times our order was not there and this laid back attitude seems to run throughout the establishment. There is free wifi but they happily tell you it is usually so busy that it is difficult to use it. The upsides are the pool which was rarely crowded and you could usually get a seat, and the closeness of places such as Sandown and Shanklin. It is hard to get free parking in the resorts (except for inland Godshill with large free carpark)but parking is free after six so we often went out at this time and walked the beach front walk between Shanklin and Sandown which is well lit and flat. As this site had been recommended to us I was disappointed with it overall.

We booked on the Red Funnel offer. What great value!
We were offered a Superpitch or two in the Meadow all with no extras. We chose the Meadow and did not regret it even if it was only to be near the baby ducks although we could see in wet weather it might not be the best place. The facilities were superb and spotlessly clean all day although the site was quite full. The shop and cafe were restricted for opening times but the food in the cafe was very, very good and not at all expensive. All the staff we saw on site were very friendly and helpful I even on got advice on starting problems for my motorhome.
Dog walking was very easy on the adjacent footpaths although sheep in the field might prove difficult if your dog is not well trained. The local dog friendly pub provided excellent Sunday lunch again with very friendly service. Appuldurcombe Gardens and the Birds of Prey centre are worth a visit and only five minutes up the hill.
The only drawback is the pothole full approach road from the village but do not be tempted by the Redhill Lane access recommended by TomTom it is long and very narrow.

We visited this site for 3 nights during a sadly wet long Summer weekend.
Despite the weather we had a very enjoyable time at the site and with two young children there was enough to keep them entertained when we were on the site.
The heated pool is of course a great asset. As others have mentioned, extending the bar opening hours would be good.
We didn't use the site take-away for meals, though we would've if we'd stayed longer. There are plenty of restaurants in Shanklin which is only a short drive away.
Also as others have mentioned, some of the plots are slightly unclear, we had to negotiate with our neighbours as they were unsure as well. I guess it's one way to break the ice, but escorting people to the plot would avoid any potential issues.
Surprisingly, despite the rain and a slope in front of us, the ground was well drained and kept immaculately clean and tidy.
The evening entertainment was well-organised and did well to raise everyone's spirits.
We would definitely consider visiting again.

Excellent week at this site. Very clean, great facilities and toilet block. Only downside we found was firstly not being shown to our pitch and boundaries not being clear. Half hour in to putting up our tent we were asked to move it. Also strange opening times of bar and shop, quite limited. Also in a valley so lose the sun very early. Avoid pitch 11 as first to lose sun In the evening.
Would recommend but ask for clear instructions on where to pitch first.
