Just come back from this site and enjoyed our stay there very much. Our pitch was a very generous size (we had a new Gelert Morpheus 6 tent and porch). We easily got the tent, porch and our VW Transporter van on our pitch.
The site was very clean and the grass cut often, very family-friendly site.
The toilet block at our end of the site (we stayed on Pitch 41a) was fantastic. Think it was new. Plenty of free hot water, always cleaned regularly.
The pool on site was heated and never crowded.
We didn't use the bar on site, but would have liked the little cafe to be open more during the daytime to get milkshakes or a snack. The shop on site sold all the basics you would need, but to ensure newspapers or croissants you are best to pre-order. The shop was not open all day, just a few hours in the morning and the same in the afternoon.
Appuldurcombe House was just a few minutes walk up the lane from the campsite and friends of ours on the Isle of Wight said their Falconry Display was well worth a visit. Also, right outside the park were several footpaths, one leading to the very picturesque village of Godshill.
We had a meal in The Grffin Inn in Godshill and portion sizes were very large and the meal excellent.
We hope to return to this site.

Fantastic fantastic fantastic !
What a lovely site. We were on Meadow Crocus pitch 9 and it was ample size, some pitches were bigger than ours but ours was big enough for our very large outfit. The site was never noisy considering its size. It was always clean and tidy and the staff were fantastic.
There is a play area but it was I thought more suitable for older children not for my toddler aged 3. The pool was fantastic lovely and warm and never seemed over crowded. The bar area and entertainment was good, and we always managed to get a seat and our daughter couldn't wait for the evenings to come to return she had a lovely time singing karaoke, and dancing comps etc etc, and limbo dancing!
The Island itself is stunning. We stayed for two weeks and we were never stuck of things to see and do. We visited all Godshill a little village with shops, pub, and model village, Shanklin, Ventnor, Ryde, Yarmouth, etc etc a trip to Needles is a must too and a ride on the cable car.
We did something different every day!
The blackgang chine was a wonderful visit and the fireworks were fantastic.
We left before the start of cowes week but there was still enough going on. Carnivals, etc etc.
The only place I would not visit is Amazon World didn't think it was worth the money!
We went to France last year and this holiday won over that, we WILL return next year try and stop us!

Another great holiday at this fab site (2nd year)
New shower block opened this summer. 7 showers, and ample toilets, one shower being large/family size, both male and female. Plug sockets would have been a good addition by the make-up area, but not really to much of a problem as a hairdryer is available for 20p. Power hand dryers too. Lovely under cover washing up area. Plenty of sinks and drainers.
The Large swimming pool painted blue under the water, fab when the sun shines on it, and warm temp open till 9pm, great after a day returning late off the beach / site seeing. The cafe wasn't open during lunch times, like last summer, but not a problem again as most people go off site during the day. Popular with the children are the milkshakes.
Owners and staff very friendly and always gave a lovely welcome when going to reception. The grounds are very well kept and the grass lovely and green, with flower beds.
Site ideal for visiting the whole island, and near to the town of Newport. Ventnor beach only a short drive away and quieter than the more popular Shanklin and Sandown. The bus also leaves just off the main road. 3min walk from site.
Laundry has had new machines this year, £3 per wash in a big loader x 4. £1 for half an hour tumble x3 also big loaders too. There are washing lines available outside if needed also.
There is a playground in the newer side ie - the football pitch, my daughter said could do with some play equipment to cater for the campers on that field. The older park could do with modernising, staining the wood, new net to the basket ball and more things to go on, ie - swings.
Will be returning again next summer!

We have just returned from 17 nights on this site and what an amazing site. We originally booked for 12 nights and were on pitch 23, my parents were in a trailer tent on pitch 24.
Our first week was wet, windy and miserable, but the site was always being 'manicured' after the weather improved we decided to extend our stay and although we had to move pitches down to pitch 1 and the un-numbered one next door, it was the best thing we did, we were happy before but this little area, gave us space, peace and a little tranquillity with the little stream behind us (well fenced in).
We used the on site cafe a couple of times and the food was well priced and well cooked. The pool was used daily by us and was heated, lovely size and a little one for toddlers. The laundrette was great, new machines and reasonably priced. The games room and bar area we only used once for the kiddies disco, but was fun and the kids had a ball. The shop was basic but had all you needed for your basics, it did however only open 8:15 - 10:15am until the site got busy and then it was open more often, but a bit more hit and miss.
The toilet blocks were exceptional, the older one at the front of the site had massive cubicles with adjustable temperature and constantly on, which was nice. The new block was wonderful, pre-set temperature and a press button thing which is not easy with kids, but spotless, all facilities are cleaned with care 4 times a day!
The staff were helpful, cheerful and could never do enough for you, brilliant at advice on where to go to avoid the holidaying masses!
There was a morrisons round the corner, but a Spar shop in the village. We went for a pub dinner and the kids ate free at the Four Seasons, very friendly place.
As for the Island in general, I can not recommend it highly enough, I was worried 2 weeks on a island I would be bored, but we barely did half of what's available, the beaches are spectacular and we loved to check which way the wind was blowing and pick the best beach!
Certainly worth a visit!

We stayed on pitch 95 during the second week of the school holiday. We had been in Dorset for the first week and then took the ferry over (arranged for us by the site) from Lymington.
We really enjoyed staying at this site. Having looked around at the site (we camped alongside friends who had pitch 94) we decided this was pretty much the ultimate location. We backed onto trees and a stream so there was a really soothing sound come bedtime.
The facilities were first class, we were situated near to the new shower block which was great, we didn't need to queue once to use the showers or toilets.
The play park was fun. We also enjoyed use of the pool which was very clean and an added bonus. The shop sold all you needed and the lady who ran the shop was so friendly - we had fresh rolls, croissants and pain au chocolate from there in the morning.
We also made use of the children's entertainment which stated at 8 each night. It was fun to go to and our children really enjoyed the disco, bingo, games and karaoke.
Whilst we stayed on the Isle of Wight we visited the adventure golf at Sandown (great fun), Blackgang Chine - you can revisit as many times in a week on one admission price - we went back on a Wednesday night for the fireworks which were first class.
Dinosaur Isle, fossil hunting at Yaverland, cinema at Newport (rainy morning), Needles (£4 just to park your car then most attractions you need to pay for), Fort Victoria.
Lunch at the White Lion which you get a discount for from your Blackgang Chine tickets is also to be recommended. We also went to see the Speedway on the Tuesday night which was a particular highlight for us Speedway newbies - try it out - under 11s free and adults £11 each.
We would like to return in the future.

We spent a week at Appuldurcombe in July 2012. We had pitch number 10 which was relatively level and had some tree shelter, it had stunning views of fields to the back and, as it was at the top of the hill, a lovely view of the site from the front.
Sadly our weather wasn't brilliant so we didn't fancy trying out the pool which was a shame because it looked lovely - very clean (both pool and surrounding area) and inviting. There is also a bar with games room which we didn't use but seemed to be reasonably busy so assume it must have been good.
The laundry room has four washing machines and three dryers - we used the dryers for towels a couple of times and were pleasantly surprised at the cost - 50p got us 18 minutes of drying time at a high heat which was perfect. You have the choice of how much or how little to spend which is a refreshing change from those sites who have a flat (high) rate.
The cafe on site was open from about half five in the evening and you could either eat in or take away everything on the menu - we did grab some food one night when we had returned late to site and it was good value and good quality.
The site itself is very well kept, clean and tidy. It is a pretty place to wander round for an evening stroll and is very well located on the island with most places being within a 30 minute drive (roads are slow due to hills and bends etc). There is a Sainsbury's in Newport (though it's tucked away and hard to find) as well as a M&S just as you enter Newport with 2 hours free parking and a great food hall.
The toilets/showers need a mention of their own. They are stunning. The main block is a large new building with about seven showers and the same number of toilets, all good sizes and very clean, five basins for handwashing/teeth brushing. Showers have plenty of room and a good area for hanging clothes, the temperature of the water is set so you can't adjust that but it's just the right level. The only downside is that you have to keep pushing the button every 20 seconds!
All in all a good site and one I would recommend.

Well what a fabulous site. Spent 7 nights and it was totally relaxing. On arrival the staff could not be more helpful. Arrived early as we got an earlier ferry and there was no problem at all. We used a hardstanding super pitch. Bags of room on pitch. The grass throughout the site is like a good football pitch, they spend a lot of time mowing and seeing to site all day.
Where we were the toilet block was brand new and spotless. No charge for showers, large mirrors just superb.
Never used the Bar but the on site cafe does good food and plenty of it. In the area of the Bar and Cafe is the swimming pool. Decent sized pool and kids seemed very safe in and around the area.
As for the village of Wroxall, did not use any of the shops as used Morrison's which was 3. 5 miles away in Lake (Lake is a village for those thinking they cannot swim). Tried 2 pubs. First one did not want our custom as they said they were too busy with a quiz night. The second was very good indeed. They were dog friendly and the food was top nosh.
The site itself was so peaceful and quiet except for the nearby peacocks squawking but not to access. When we return to the Island we will definitely be booking in here.

What a lovely campsite. My colleagues and I camped here over the weekend (me in my campervan & the others in two tents) over the weekend of 16th/17th June. The weather, especially the wind, was not particularly kind to us but the campsite was wonderful. It is bordered on one side by houses although there are still trees etc. between the site and the house, and on the other side I bordered by open countryside.
The pitch sizes are very generous with plenty of room for a tent, car (or campervan and annex tent) and somewhere to sit outside and eat etc.
The brand new toilet block is positively luxurious and the showers were always hot.
The staff at reception were incredibly friendly and helpful and the shop, whilst not heavily stocked, did seem to have the essentials you might need. I have never liked the idea of staying in a static caravan but even the small area dedicated to static caravans was lovely with no cars and plenty of trees etc.
I would definitely recommend this campsite, my son is older now but there is also a play area for the kids and plenty of space to run around and it seemed a very safe and peaceful site.
Definitely a campsite I will visit again when I next find myself on the IOW.

Wow, what a great site. Everything on site has been well thought out and the owners have spared no expense in making this a great site to visit. We arrived and was given precise information about our pitch and surrounding area attractions. The slightly sloping grass area was very well at coping with the often wet conditions and all the bins / water points / electric hook ups were well within reach of every pitch. The pool was always clean and although outdoors, warm and welcoming. Loved the on site shop and eatery, always a smile from all of the staff. The site is an ideal location to tour the island and found that by car your usually at where you want to go within 15 minutes. Come rain or shine, there is always somewhere to go. Our thanks to the site owners for a warm welcome and superb stay, would use this site again.

Beautifully laid out and maintained site with terraced flat grass and hard standing, some with shared water facilities.
A new shower and loo block was very smart and the disabled loo like a palace! Plenty of washing up sinks although exposed, on our visit, to the cold wind and rain blowing in.
Our hard-standing pitch, booked down by the stream, was lovely. There were ducks. And moor hens were busy around our van scratching a meal and feeding their young who looked like black tennis balls with matchstick legs. In the early morning the local rooks were a little tiresome as they shouted at each other and disturbed our sleep.
There was no evidence of any problem caused by the rain on the grass pitches.
On-site swimming pool and restaurant looked good although we did not test either.
The site was well-placed for the Ventnor / Shanklin / Sandown end of the island.
