We stayed here on a late September weekend as a family of two adults, one teenager and two nine year olds. We spotted the site a few weeks earlier while we were staying at a different site on the outskirts of Southport and decided to check it out for future visits. We liked the look of the site and the friendliness of the wardens who greeted us so we booked it for my daughter’s birthday weekend.
When we arrived we were checked in and shown to our hard standing plot by a man in a golf buggy who was very helpful in advising us how best to pull onto our pitch. He showed us how to use the barrier key and showed us where the facilities were then left us to get on with it.
The facilities were beautifully set out in a central stone building and included drinking water point, waste water, Elsan point, laundry with one washer and one dryer (£2. 50 per wash/£2. 30 per dry), one washing up sink, ladies block with 5 toilets and 3 showers and gents block. On the grass field there was another set of facilities but we did not use these. Although we are still pretty new to caravanning the facilities at this site were the best we have experienced so far. Although the pitch wasn’t fully serviced we had our own electric hook up point and we were pitched so close to the main block (plot 49) that we didn’t need our own water or waste on the pitch.
All around the site were raised beds filled with plants and flowers and hanging baskets. There was a small children’s play area with some swings and a climbing frame and loads of trees to climb.
We had a barbecue on the Friday night and on Saturday we went into Southport to the Dunes Leisure Centre where they have a splash pool with slides for the children. We spent a couple of hours there before heading to the pier to put some money in the slot machines. When we returned we picked up a menu from the site reception and ordered Domino’s pizzas which were delivered straight to the site.
Ainsdale village is a 5 minute drive away and there are shops and a handful of restaurants/pubs. Formby is 5 minutes in the opposite direction and there is a good selection of supermarkets, shops, pubs and restaurants there. Formby Point is a nice place to spend a few hours walking through the woods and on the beach and the dunes. There is also Southport with all its facilities a 5 minute drive away.
On the Saturday night one of the houses adjacent to the site was having a barbecue party with a live band so the music was playing into the small hours. It didn’t bother us because it was a mild evening so we sat outside our caravan and let the children stay up to dance in their pyjamas but we did hear several people complaining about the noise.
On the Sunday we had to check out by 12pm but we could have stayed until 4pm for another £5. 50 if we had wanted to.
All in all this was a lovely stay and we can’t wait to go there again.

What a fantastic site. Very clean and well situated for Southport, via the quiet coastal road. We stayed here for the first time on hard standing pitch.
On our arrival we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff, and were escorted to our pitch by the little buggy. Help was offered and accepted on placing our caravan on the pitch.
Electric hook up and water facilities, recycling bins for all those bottles of beer.
The toilet block is very well maintained and contains plenty of sinks, showers, scullery, laundry, iron, disabled toilet and shower, etc. The price is exceptionally reasonable and we will definitely return for a longer stay than our two nights.
Playground is good, we did not experience any noise from the road or airfield, but there is a field of grass pitches, with separate toilets ( excellent showers), which if pitching on the road side of the field, could be noisy.
We did not see any pubs within immediate walking distance, but the short 5 minute drive to Southport was ideal for us. An excellent tranquil site that probably benefits from not having a bar or pool.
The only snag is that it is closed for our wedding anniversary ( site open from March til January) Valentines Day.

Excellent site, immaculately clean with several beautiful hanging baskets around the site.
Spar shop within 10 mins easy walk amd Ainsdale 20-25mins walk with pubs/restaurants/shops and a train station that will take you to Liverpool or Southport. Also bus to Southport within 5 mins walk.
Walk to beach over sand dunes (if you are fit!)- approx 20 mins.
Loved it - will definitely return.
Woodvale airdrome next to site but only small planes go over (no night noise).
Staff very friendly and helpful

Just spent a weekend at this site, and I have to say I was very impressed.
We had 3 children with us, aged between 3 and 5, and they all had a great time, free to roam about on their scooters/bikes.
The staff were all really helpful, showed us to our pitch (hardstanding), and even helped my husband to set up. Great!
We were pitched right next to the playground (just through a small wooded area), fine for our 3, but I have to say older children would not have been impressed with it. A few swings and a small climbing frame. It was beautifully kept though, and nice soft sand if they fell over.
Older children seemed to all have bikes with them, and were safe around the site area.
Immaculatey clean toilets/showers, you needed a key to use them (was on the fob with the barrier, £10 deposit required).
Ainsdale beach (lovely sandy beach) just up the road, £4 to park, but you can park on the beach. Children had great fun passing away the afternoon in the sandhills. Great for kite flying too.
Visited Southport, usual seaside town, had a nice Chinese buffet too, very reasonable (can't remember name, but on complex with cinema and Premier inn). Lunch for the five of us was only £25!
No on site shop, just some soft drinks nad ice-creams from what I saw, but there is a large tesco up the road to stock up.
Overall great site, would recommend.

Excellent site with absolutely spotless toilet and shower facilities, new washing up cabin and widely spaced neatly kept pitches. Yes, the road can be noisy, yes the wind blows across the site like no tomorrow - but we were very impressed none the less.
The staff are very helpful and friendly and it is a stones throw from the fabulous Ainsdale beach. In fact, the site is perfectly placed to explore the area.
Shops are not far away, as is a reasonable fish and chip shop (it is becoming a tradition on our first night's!) and it is so easy to find.
Take a trip to Crosby to look at the Anthony Gormley statue installation - very atmospheric!
Will come back - many thanks!

We spent the Royal Wedding Bank Holiday weekend at Willowbank and we were very happy with our stay. We booked quite late with 2 other families and the staff were very accommodating when trying to pitch us close to each other.
Our pitches were grass but had plastic mesh underneath to create a semi-hardstanding which worked well. When we first arrived we were a little disappointed to find that the toilet block nearest to us was a portable cabin but, once inside, our fears disappeared as they were sparkling clean.
The showers in there were fully adjustable electric ones with lift off hoses so made showering kids great. The other block was equally clean but the showers in there were fixed head and the non-adjustable push button type so we stuck to the portable cabin.
The dish washing facilities were great with plentiful hot water and lots of space. The only small issue was the fresh water tap which soaked you if you didn't have a filler tube - only got caught out the first time!
The kids enjoyed the play area and the ball games field, the dog walk was quite short but perfectly adequate, but the site would benefit from a small shop although there is a large Tesco a short drive away.
Lots to do in the area, Southport is very clean and well maintained but don't expect to see the sea as it goes a very long way out. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon at the Botanical Gardens which has a great aviary, a small crazy golf course (small fee) and a couple of playgrounds and, best of all, is free!
The site is easy to find with good access and, although it is close to the road, we didn't find the noise intrusive.
We enjoyed our stay very much and we hope to visit Willowbank again.

I have used this site several times now and have found it to be clean friendly and just what you need for a relaxing break. Toilets are clean and the pitches well spaced. I have had a corner pitch in the old camping field twice now and I love it!. Would recommend this site to anyone who wants a quiet relaxing break near to the beach. Our dog loves the beach and it goes on forever. Last but not least the staff a really helpful and friendly puts you in a good mood straight away when arriving.

First time on this site. It was easy to find being just off the main road to Southport from L'Pool. The road noise was not intrusive ( and I am one who would find it so!). Off season there is just the one toilet block open but it provided hot showers and clean toilets. There is another for high season. Washing up facilities would be stretched if site more than half full as there's only 1 sink per block. The site is 50/50 touring and statics but they are kept separated. No tents unfortunately. There are hardstandings for wet weather. Wardens were friendly. The pitches are a tad on the smallish side but suited us.There's a security barrier (£10 deposit). Overall an enjoyable site to stay on. Plenty to doin the area and shops and eating places are 5 minutes away. Southport is only 10 minutes by car and there are buses 250 yards away.

Just visited this site for August Bank Holiday and I have to say we were very impressed.
The site is immaculately clean - toilets/showers are cleaned regularly and are spotless - best we have ever seen.
Site was full as Bank Holiday weekend but didn't have to queue for a shower once.
Yes the site was close to a busy road and in fact our pitch was c10 metres away but the noise didn't bother us at all.
The Pitches were really generous, we were on grass but grounds were kept really short.
Location is perfect for keen cyclists with a cycle track situated directly outside the site entrance which will take you into Southport.
Staff on site really friendly.
Only down-side was there is no shop on site to buy essentials, although there is a supermarket 2 miles away
We will be back!

We have just arrived back from here after spending one night, just to check our caravan was in good working order for the coming weekends further afield ahead.
Excellent site, friendly staff, immaculately clean toilet and shower blocks. Staff were very helpful and friendly even though we arrived later than expected. The gentleman even showed us to our pitch and helped us level the caravan up.
Very secure site, with fob operated barriers. Plenty of space around our pitch. We needed a longer EHU cable and reception happily obliged and loaned us one free of charge, which was nice. Showers nice and hot and plenty of them. Dog walk was adequate for our little yorkie.
No traffic noise at all on our pitch and we had a really good nights sleep. Would certainly recommend Willowbank and we will be booking again very soon.
