We found the site very clean, grass smart and well cut. Toilets were very clean and well maintained, No late noise, we found it to be very peaceful. Full marks to all the staff as the site is a credit to them and they cannot do to much to make your stay excellent.

We have just returned home after a lovely week spent at Willowbank and have had a totally different experience to the previous reviewer. Yes, some pitches are quite close to the busy road, as was ours, but we were made aware beforehand that we may experience some road noise and we didn't find it a problem even though I am I light sleeper, and the lovely big pitches more than made up for it.
We did hear the police helicopter one night but that could happen anywhere, and the adjacent airfield which we found out was an airforce training field was more of a novelty than a nuisance and we wouldn't consider ourselves to be plane spotters !
We found the walk to the beach through dunes very enjoyable and the nature reserve was lovely, though you do need to be reasonably fit to complete these walks but we had researched before we booked and so we knew what to expect. There is well stocked shop just ten minutes walk from the site. The shower block is immaculate and the staff friendly and helpful. We have rebooked already !

Website describes as being surrounded by belt of dense woodland, and this just isn't true at the rear. Our pitch was roughly 10 feet from the very busy A565 and we had constant traffic noise / sirens throughout the night. The site is also adjacent to a very busy airfield. Great if you're a spotter, but not much fun if you want a lie in. First plane up at 6.30am when we were there.
Also the claim regards walks to the nature reserve, and coast. This would be accurate for serious walkers only, and certainly not suitable to walk small children the distance. Its a good 20/30 minute walk to the nature reserve and approximately 45 minutes to the coast. You also have to cross the coastal road to do so, and its a nightmare. We stood for 10 minutes at the entrance to the nature reserve, which is just after a blind bridge, waiting for a break in traffic to dash across. Why the council haven't put a footbridge here I don't know?
On the positives, yes well kept, clean toilet blocks, children's play areas, and plenty of hook ups.
Overall, its expensive, for what it is, as we did feel we'd spent a night in a lay by, and you do need a car to go anywhere or to pick up supplies, as no shop on site or local pub.

Just back from 6 day visit to this site and have to echo everything said in previous posts. Site is immaculate, toilets and showers spotless, grounds manicured, transport to Southport (15 minutes) & Liverpool (40 minutes) within walking distance, both great days out. Wardens very friendly.
Good sized site, plenty of room for children to cycle. The only down for us was that there was no shop for essentials eg bread / milk. You could order newspapers in advance. But that wouldn't put us off coming back. We would definitely recommend.

My wife and I have just spent the season, April/Sept on this park.During this time we had 90 days in the van. The park has got to be up there with the best that we have seasoned on.The facilities are the best we have encountered, the park wardens absolutely brilliant, nothing to much trouble. There is a small playground for children, opposite the reception, a football field for a 'kick around', a dog walk that takes you close to the Wodvale Airfield, which is spotless. There is also a disabled toilet and shower.
There are hard standing, along with the grass standing, pitches all with electric hook-up.
The toilet block is spotless not surprising as it has 3/4 clean-outs a day.The disposal points are very closely situated to the rest of the facilities.
The Park is very well situated to The Red Squirrel Reserve in Formby (2mls),The 100 'Beach Statues at Crosby (6mls)Ainsdale,Birkdale and Southport all within 4mls.You can choose to walk 500yds to the bus stop and catch the bus to either of the towns mentioned or a trip into Liverpool for the day.Once you have booked your pitch you will find a mine of onfo in reception
Of places to visit, you can also order daily papers for the days your on the park.Yes we will definitely be back next year. John & Veronica.

We spent a week at Willowbank over Easter and found it an ideal location for visiting Liverpool, Southport and Lancashire. The site had a mixture of hardstanding and grass pitches (all level)
and due to the bad weather the grass pitches were somewhat soggy.
There were 2 toilet blocks, one of which was a portacabin. They were always clean but with only 3 showers you may need to queue at peak times. The site was next to the main road so although had easy access was noisy and plane noise could also be heard.
The staff were very friendly and helped position you van. It was secure with a barrier pass being needed to enter. There was a fenced area for ball games and a play area by reception. The dog walk was small and just a narrow track but at least there was somewhere on site. Further afield was southport dunes and formby beach for good walks.
Tesco was a short drive away and a little further afield Aldi.

Stayed fri to sun on arrival onsite we were shown to our pitch as we were 1st time caravanners he helped us reverse & shown where everything was. All the staff were so helpful site is so peaceful (except for the police helicopter)
Shower block was spotless, never seen cleaner. Small dog walk was spotless. Every one was really friendly. The only small downside for kids was the small play area but my youngest soon found other kids to play with. We can't wait to visit again site is a credit to its owners & the wardens who keep it so clean & tidy

Pos: Excellent site. Wardens helpful and visible. Showers & toilets spotless, cleaned properly throughout the day clean site, Plenty of walks from site to Ainsdale beach and through the Nature Reserve
Neg: only one sink for washing dishes, shower was hot not adjustable, no mop & bucket for cleaning the shower (for health and safety reasons apparently!)

Just returned from a one night stay at Willowbank with partner, little girl and a daft dalmatian. We picked this site due to the location as we were trying out our first caravan together. On arrival we checked in and gave our £10.00 key deposit to very helpful staff who escorted us to our pitch. We were on pitch 23 and took a while to level our unit as we are novices but the pitches are a little uneven.
The toilet block was spotless bordering immaculate as was the recycling area, and waste disposal for grey, chemical toilet area and dish washing room. There was not one noticeable trace of litter on the site and the pitches very well manicured.
The dog exercise area was a good walk along the airfield which was next to the site and again most dog owners adhered to the site rules of cleaning up after their dogs.
The negatives yes there are some:
The children's play area could do with a few extra activities on there our little one was board after 10 minutes although the activities on there was very well maintained.
The only way to the attractions are by car or bus.
The next noise the site is situated right along side the Formby bypass which even through the night generates an awful lot of noise. The airfield RAF Woodvale is also home to Mike 1 Merseyside Police Helicopter which was taking off and landing quite often through the night.
All in all, Would we visit again? Yes I would say but as a couple only as I think even though I saw only a few well behaved children they would be bored. There are a lot of activities in the area but car is a must. I would expect that during school Summer Holidays this site would be very busy certainly when the Southport Air and Flower shows are on.
The site on the whole is a credit to the owners and team. The negatives are something that they can't control.
