July 2005 Just come back from Willowbank. This is a well set out site with hard standing as well as grass pitches. The camping field for tents was large with a seperate area for kids to play.
If your not used to the sound of traffic it can disturb you a bit. Our four year old slept through with no problems. We stayed two nights and the first night we were a bit restless but by the second you become accustomed to the drone of traffic and we weren't disturbed a bit.
We were treated to a display of parachutists from RAF Woodvale on the Saturday morning. Its not like jets are going across all day, at worst there were one or two helecopters. All in all a nice quiet site, great toilets and washing facilities with free showers. We will definitely go again.

July 2005 Absolutely lovely campsite. Very flat, lots of space between tents, superb toilets and showers and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend it.
There is a beach close by and |Southport is only a few minutes by car. The area was good for cycling too.

March 2005 A very nice site on the outskirts of Southport. Warden greeted us on arrival and helped us to pitch up. Quiet site with very little to do however the toilets and showers are immaculate. There is a dog walk and a nice large area for the kids to play. Price very reasonable (Around 311 per night) and I would recommend for anyone who does not want a large amount of facilities.

December 2004 We did a winter stay at Willowbank and pretty much had the place to ourselves - this is a year-round site and the folks there seem as welcoming in winter as they are in summer! They even came over in the evening to ask if everything was okay due to the weather turning very cold and frosty.
Can't agree more with the comments on the loo and shower facilities - better than we've seen in some top hotels.
Not much of a shop on site but there is a Spar literally 10 minutes walk away and you have all the main supermarkets in Southport too.
A bus runs from the main road - about 5 minutes walk from the site - and takes you straight into Southport in about 20 minutes - but ask the driver which numbers and stop you need to get back on in Southport as a lot of the buses run circular services.
We didn't notice too much road noise nor from the RAF base either.
Enjoy your stay!

March 2004 This is a lovely site in a nice woodland setting, friendly helpful staff.
The best toilet and shower facilities I have ever seen on any site, spotlessly clean, they even have a bathroom for families with small children, key available from reception.
The washing machines and tumble driers in the launderette on site are really good - Miele machines - everything washes and dries clean and economicaly, good point if your on a family holiday as a lot of on site laundries can eat up a fair bit of cash. If you are on a touring holiday save your washing till you get on here.
Nothing in the immediate location but idealy placed for visiting Southport, Formby, Ainsdale and Liverpool.
Definately worth a visit as it's family friendly, ideal for all age groups and anyone with a disability.

2nd April 2004 This is a lovely quiet site, apart from some traffic noise at night. We were very impressed by how clean the toilets and shower facilities were, and how well maintained the site was. We would definitely come back.

March 2004 This site is immaculate, some road noise from Formby by-pass, otherwise a very peaceful place. Only downside is there's nothing on site other than basic amenities, couldn't even get a pint of milk. Papers can be ordered but that's about it.

Summer 2003 Toilets and showers excellent. On a night a little noisy with traffic on nearby road and pitches perhaps a bit too near to each other.

Sept 2003 Great little site, well laid out and well run. The toilets were spotlessly clean and like new. The showers and washing up water is included in the price.
We will definetly return to this site when we are in this part of the country.

March 2003 A superbly clean, quiet site.
Toilets are the best I have ever seen, really really clean (and heated). The grass is almost putting green perfect. A dog walking area is to the rear of the site. RAF Woodvale is adjacent to the site and Ainsdale beach is half a mile away.
There is no club on the site, the nearest is half a mile away so its a quiet weekend but a good one all the same. For those not too interested in the nightlife, this is a very good place to stay and explore southport and liverpool.
