I have just come back from a short break here with my neice. We found check in very easy and staff friendly and helpful offering advice on what's local.
We was offered a choice of pitches however staff offered advice on were they would pitch the tent. We had a lovely pitch not to far from the shower block which was one of the cleanest I've seen on a camp-site, with plenty of hot water however the water never stayed on long at all, toilets were also nice and clean with plenty of paper (always a plus) and the shower/toilet block was regularly checked and cleaned.
The only bad thing about the site is I though there was quite a bit off traffic noise at night from the main road.
Would strongly suggest a trip to high lodge which is about a 15min drive up the road we spent the day there and done the go ape high wire course (never laughed so much) great fun for teenagers as well, then hired bikes out in the afternoon which was great fun too. The only bad thing about high lodge is the price of parking cost me 9.60 for 6 hour however the park was well kept so that possibly makes up for the cost.
All in all we had a great time the forest surrounding the campsites was fantastic worth going round the site was clean and tidy with very friendly staff we would go back again .

On arrival we were very impressed at the beauty of this site, it was surrounded by trees and in the sunshine looked idyllic.
There are 3 main fields, A,B and C, all very different : 1 very open and near the children's play areas, this also has the hard standings, another near reception and on the main drive around the site and then the other, which is a huge open field surrounded by trees. We were put on the latter (which we asked for). The staff are the most accommodating we have ever come across, with us and every other arrival we saw. They ask you where you would like to pitch, rather than. This is your pitch, brilliant !
The pitches are huge, flat and superbly drained. Lots of EHU, some with a TV aeriel point, (you rent the lead from reception £5 for your stay). They also arrange bike hire from reception, and now have Wifi.
There is an on site shop, which is pretty well stocked, with all your essentials, other frozen goods, basic camping equipment and ice cubes, an essential in 30 degree heat !
There are 2 lots of toilet and shower facilities, 1 older and 1 newer, but both are immaculately kept, very hot water. There is 1 washing machine and 1 dryer on site. There is a kids play area and a field for ball games, & we took our sons bike, which he had a lot of safe fun riding round. The fish and chips from the van on a friday is knock out !
Not much to do in the immediate area, but if you want peace, tranquillity and a chill out holiday with plenty of walks/cycles in the forest, then this is ideal, we loved it !

I have used this site on numerous occasions, and have always found the Wardens friendly and helpful. The site facilities are always kept clean, with two toilet blocks, and the site shop is well stocked, but the prices are expensive, so best to travel to Thetford for supermarket shopping. The showers are push button and very frustrating, and I suggest the timing needs adjustment between pushes.
My last visit was May Day Bank Holiday weekend 2009, and it was packed to maximum, with young families and offspring, seemingly taking over the site, with little consideration for others, children on bikes invading other pitches, parents allowing and joining in with football between pitches, disregarding and not using the large play area provided. The Wardens appeared to be oblivious to this, and overwhelmed, with inadequate general supervision of the site. They seemingly had no room to consider peoples preferences re pitching, which they did on my previous visits, the whole site becoming transformed into a free for all and geared to young families needs only. If you are seeking peace and quiet and enjoying the nature and surroundings that this site provides, I would recommend avoiding spending Bank Holidays here. The wildlife become non-existent during these times, as the young families seem unable to adjust to the countryside atmosphere.

First time here, and following the previous reviews was hoping it was going to be Ok for our family get-together. Booked on the phone, as other family members not C&CC members. Very helpful on phone. We arrived first Friday morning and found all staff very helpful. Site wonderful, and led to our pitch. Lovely grounds and basically can't fault the whole weekend. Other family arrived Friday night and Saturday and the staff did their best to keep pitches either side of us free for them.
All worked out great and by Saturday pm we were all aligned on the back field. Great open field next to the play area for the kids to play football (and us!) and the only downside was noisy neighbours. Music til 3am (although I slept through it) After a word with the staff they must have dealt with it as all quiet the next night. Don't people realise how noisy they are being ?
Shop OK for essentials, and grounds and walks into the woods great. Will return. Fish & Chip van on Friday nights a great extra.
Only needed a pool in the blistering heat this weekend and the kids would have been in 7th heaven. They all didn't want to come home.

If we had a complaint about this site (and really we don't!), it was that the manager who checked us in was almost TOO helpful: he spent so long explaining the options for pitching in the various areas and the location of the facilities, that we really were getting quite keen to get pitched and sorted long before he had finished. But that is the right sort of problem to have.
The pitches all seemed level and pleasant and the facilities were excellent - very clean, well-kept toilet blocks, a good reception area with a nice little shop, fish and chip van (not the greatest we've ever had, but nice to have it anyway) and a really good recycling area for waste, something that is often lacking on C&CC sites. It was a pity that the Wi-Fi service wasn't up and running at the time of our visit, but I dar esay that is sorted by now.
Certainly a site that we will go back to.

Just got back after spending 5 lovely nights at this campsite.
Went there last year for the first time with my partner around the same time of the year, and were kind of put off by the various rules. However, I appreciate rules are needed in order to run a tight ship.
I returned this time on my own with my dog and had a great time, as I knew what to expect.
The staff were really helpful and welcoming, and they worked very hard to keep the facilities in excellent conditions. There was hardly a spider web in the main toilet block!
The hot water for showering was nice and hot, with lots of water coming out of the shower rose and not a dribble.
I arrived Sat afternoon, and the site was pretty full with not many pitches with electricity left. The lady at the reception was really patient and helped me choose the best available pitch which was next to the barrier.
It turned out to be a great pitch, with shade for the dog, and in close proximity to the reception and shop, main shower / toilet / washing up block and the water / waste disposal point. It was also next to big motorhome for a couple of wardens that appeared to live on site, separated by the driveway.
I felt very safe while I camped out on this pitch on my own with my dog, and shall ask for the same or adjacent pitch when I return to visit friends and family in the area.
I bought most of my food with me, so I did not use the shop except to buy a local map,a compass and icecream. However, it appeared to be well stocked with the basic provisions and some equipment, except for fresh vegetable, which is understandable. I went to Thetford everyday and popped into the supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsbury and Aldi) there to pick up bits and pieces.
Thetford also has an Argos and a Halfords in case one needs any camping and caravan related items, very handy indeed. There are other shops in Theford too, like Focus (next to Sainsbury), a very nice garden centre (next to Tesco), a pet shop (next to Halfords and Aldi), 2 pharmacies, and a range of fast food joints, including a Subway. The Chinese takeaway near the Market Place / Square was as busy as usual when I walked pass one evening. I went there often when I lived in Thetford.
I seldom ate in the restaurants or went to the pubs the 10y I lived there, so I am not in the position to recommend any of them.
Location of the campsite is excellent, close to Thetford, and the Forest and just a short drive from High Lodge, the forest centre, that I visited everyday with my dog except the day of arrival - too tired after pitching up! There are nice walks around the campsite too, which was great for my dog.
A word about High Lodge. It charges £1.60 per hour, however, a 7 day pass is only 15.00 GBP. I bought a 7 day pass and it was worth the money even for 4 days. I did not have to worry about taking too long a break in between cycling or walking. I gave my pass to a family with kids who arrived the day before I left so that they could use it for the remaining days. Beware of the 'Green' cycle route, which is supposed to be easy. I struggled in sections where there were pockets of sand which made me loose my balance, doh! One section was quite steep and rough so I walked it instead.
Overall, a very nice campsite, and my dog and I shall return whenever we are up that way again.

New to touring, excellent facilities and location, the owners and wardens were incredibly helpful and supportive. They even encouraged a novice tower to reverse and greatly helped my confidence.
Hook ups, large pitches, piped TV and leads available, good shop, bike hire available on site at peak times, fantastic walks and cycling in the forest.
Fish and Chip van on site Friday evening.
The owners appeared as Morris dancers during the weekend for an impromptu display. Excellent site, thoroughly recommended.

On arrival. What a nightmare. It took over an hour to book in. The queue went forever! We knew we must be somewhere pretty special!
The wardens were very helpful and pleasant despite being extremely busy they managed to find the time to smile, showed us to our pitch (via bike) and passed the time of day with us. It is a big site but the different areas seem quite well organised. There is a playing field next to the site which can be seen from some of the pitches so perfect for ball games etc. You can walk straight into the forest from the site so perfect for dogs or children! On Friday the chip van comes. Prepare to queue for that too! But, it is worth it. Food was lovely and as the nearest chippy is a drive away it made life easy.
Supermarkets, petrol stations etc are about 10 min drive away as are beautiful picnic spots(all signed),some by a river.
The toilet block was clean but showering was a pain as there seemed to be a 30 second timer and you had to keep the button pressed in for the water to keep flowing!
Site shop was quite well stocked with a variety of goods but all the essentials.
Would visit this one again.

This site is fairly large, is easy to find and has good access. I got the impression that at the time the site had recently been redeveloped and more to come.
I found the Staff friendly / helpful especially if it was your 1st visit to the site.
The site pitch layout is very all in straight lines (very regimental) having said that your pitch boundary is obvious.
EHU and some with a TV aerial point, (you rent the lead from reception with a deposit for your stay)
Most of the facilities are new/modern and very clean (as you would like to find them)
Do beware of splash-back when emptying your thunder-box at the disposal point (so our 18 year old informed us)
Toilets and showers were spotless with lots of hot water never had to wait
You can order your papers up front as required.
There is a children’s play area, and a neighbouring field that is designated for football etc.
There were 2-3 tents with a younger generation whom as the night and alcohol progressed their noise level increased (they could be heard across the whole site) with no intervention from the site staff.
The on site dog walking facilities were very disappointing, a very small stretch of grass right at the very outside of the site.
This site is next to a lovely forest area, great for cyclists’ quiet walks great for dog walking (do be aware! there are plenty of forest inhabitants mingy things for your pet to roll in) as they do.
There are other sites i.E. CS sites that offer equal facilities at realistic prices.
This site is ideal if you want to just chill with Wifey and your pet.

Our fourth C&CC site we've stayed on, another clean & tidy site with SUPERB toilet & shower facilities. Friendly staff with a choice of where to pitch - busy near toilets, or quiet behind reception.
Was concerned that TV reception would be poor as you could hire TV leads to plug into pitch but got fantastic reception.
Quite a busy site considering it was only March!
A quiet location with no traffic noise, barriers prevent very late arrivals and very early departures.
WILL use again!
