This is a great site about halfway between Thetford and Watton. The site itself is surrounded by farmers fields and forest so it is very quiet.
On arrival we were offered a number of pitch options, shown to the pitch we selected and were fully briefed on where all of the facilities were. The hard-standing we opted for was a little larger than we have found previously on C & CC club sites and not quite level, but not a major problem.
The toilet/shower blocks were immaculate as would be expected of a club site. The only slight criticism at this point is that the showers did not dispense water for long enough. They stayed on for about 6 seconds, which is too little even for the push button variety. There was an issue of low water pressure during our stay which was being addressed by plumbers so this may have played a part.
There is a nicely fenced off dog exercise area where dogs can have a little run off of their leads as well as access directly into the forest for longer walks.
There were a lot of mosquitoes around which was a slight irritation and I got bitten to pieces by them, but I am sure an insect repellent would have helped.
The big question is would I stay again, and this is a resounding YES. A great little family run site which is franchised from the C &CC Club.

Very secluded site which is well maintained. You get a very warm welcome from the owners of the site and they guide you to your pitch and help you park the caravan where it needs to be.
The facilities are well looked after and are cleaned regularly.
There is a small park for the children but a large field for them to play in too.
There are lovely walks around the area, as you can imagine being in the middle of Thetford Forest.
You are very close to High Lodge which is a great day out for both children and adults.
Would recommend the site for all.
Only downside I would say, is that it is slightly expensive for what it is, but that is possibly down to the Caravan and Camping Club affiliation.

Just spent a weekend here and had a fantastic time!
Two adults and three children aged 7yrs, 3yrs and 8m old. Staff were brilliant! Helpful and friendly, the site and facilities were spotless and we got shown a choice of three pitches in different areas. We requested to be away from the dog walk area (as our daughter is petrified of them) and they were fab with this, considering its a very dog friendly site.
There were a few families with children playing out and making a little noise after dark, who also had a stereo with some 80's dance music but nothing you could complain about, and it didn't cause us any problems.
As mentioned you can literally hop into the forest from the site and we had some lovely walks and saw 3 deer in one evening! Banham zoo was 20 mins drive away and was fantastic!
On site the play area really needs some TLC. Everything is a bit tired and worn, and there are some swings or something missing, so hopefully they are looking to improve that asap. A nice play area next to it for ball games though.
We've never been to a C&CC site before and we were very impressed. Think we may join next year.
Can't wait to go back to Thetford Forest, was a lovely little escape.

Arrived quite late on the Friday and were shown quickly to our Camping Pod. We had booked this little wooden hut back when it was cold and snowy so the idea of heating, electric and lighting was too much to resist. Our weekend was the warmest of the year to date!
Had it been colder we might have enjoyed and appreciated the Pod a bit more, as it was we found it a bit small and felt its location, whilst offering great privacy, made us feel left out. We had also imagined having our camper next to the Pod but this was not possible.
That said the staff on site were great, both at check in and when we asked to be able to move our camper so that we could set up its awning to sit out and enjoy a sunset.
The toilets and facilities were really clean & we picked up a couple of extra bits in the site shop. There is access straight into the woods and enjoyed several walks with our dog!
Overall the site was really clean and would definitely go back again, just next time stick to using our camper and tent.

We chose this site as it's right in the Thetford forest and offered a great break for us and easy access to some lovely walks in fantastic woodlands.
The site is exceptionally clean and spacious, the facilities are spotless and well maintained and the pitches are large enough for the biggest caravans. The wardens were attentive and very keen to ensure that we enjoyed our break too.
It was fairly quiet while we were there and some of the facilities blocks were understandably closed for the Winter but there were ample facilities in any case. We thought the place was great with one reservation; the showers were hot and spotlessly clean but the supply of hot water is controlled by a push button which gives roughly 6 seconds of hot water. It should be fairly obvious that this is inadequate. It didn't spoil our weekend but we did resort to using our caravan shower via the electric immersion heater as we found it inconvenient and just a little surprising after paying £33 for two nights.

A nice site, the facilities are very good and probably te cleanest I have come across in my many years of camping.
We did feel a little close to the other campers and it seemed to be designed more for caravans than camping.
The major downside of our visit was the proximity to a military site, which seemed to be testing firearms until about midnight. The peace was also disturbed on Sunday morning by the nearby dirt bike racing track.
That said, my 3 year old loved the playground and big playing field which is very well maintained.

What can I say. Simply Fantastic. We have just returned from a week stay 02-08 August. A wonderful site surrounded by woodland.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. You are shown the available pitches on a board at reception on arrival and asked to choose. You are then taken by a staff member to your chosen pitch although they are happy to show you alternative available pitches if you wish. We were camping with electric hook-up and selected a pitch right beside one of the entrances to the forest which was ideal for our dog although the dog walk on site is perfect for first thing in the morning/last thing at night, a good size. Direct access from site to lovely forest walks, distance of routes colour coded (yellow/green). The toilet blocks are immaculate, both blocks have a family bathroom (shower in one, bath in the other), £10 refundable deposit for a key. Laundry available at a charge £3. 50 for washing machine, £1. 50 dryer (30 mins). Information leaflets and info on places to go/things to do in the laundry hut. The playground on-site although not huge is sufficient and the open space around the playground is ideal for ball games etc.
The only slight downside was you can't re-freeze your own ice blocks. They supply ice blocks on site at a charge, £2 refundable deposit per block with a 50p usage charge per block.
Watton is 6 miles away which has a large Tesco (must have increased in size as previous reviews referred to a Tesco Metro) and we found a fabulous butchers (Steven Smiths) in Watton which has a carvery style hot counter that serves a choice of hot baguettes, beef/pork/turkey, stuffing & selection of sauces at very reasonable prices and not at all shy with the amount of filling, a large baguette £3. 50 is difficult to finish but impossible not to as so tasty! Meat for BBQ also very reasonable and delicious! There is another large Tesco with petrol station in Thetford, 7 miles from site, in the opposite direction.
We visited High Lodge Forest Centre (15 miles), which is well worth a visit, our little boy (3 years old) loved all the play equipment along the forest trails, suitable for all ages and for teenagers there's Go Ape. There is a parking charge of £1. 90 per hour but you can buy a weekly parking pass for £15 so if visiting more than once well worth getting the weekly pass. Food, drinks, ice-creams at High Lodge very expensive and the staff in the cafe are extremely off-hand & rude!, so worth bringing a picnic.
We also took a trip to Dinosaur Adventure, what a brilliant park, lots to do, a full day out. In addition to the Dinosaur trails there are various play areas and an animal encounter, but again bring a picnic as food/drinks prices are extortionate!
We would have returned to this site for the August Bank Holiday weekend but unfortunately they don't have availability. Would highly recommend this site and we are already planning to book for a trip in September.

A lovely site. The staff are really helpful and even helped us to site the van (they were quite specific about where it should be for safety reasons)
It seemed like the site was pretty level. We didn't notice anyone with levellers. Our pitch was large and all of the site had a spacious, not all crammed together, feel. We were on grass and it was very easy to put tent pegs in for the awning, not a chore at all.
The facilities were fantastic. Clean, well kept and modern. The showers were always a nice temperature and I never had to queue. However the shower button had to be almost continually pressed, which meant trying to shower with one hand - not easy for someone with a lot of hair to wash.
The fish and chip van food was lovely but my dear husband did have to queue for over an hour and a half! On the Saturday a local farmer came selling meat and cooked produce, burgers and hot roast pork. I don't know if its always there as we didn't see any information about it and just happened across it. What a welcome addition. It was really nice and seemed to do a roaring trade.
The shop has a supply of the essentials but Thetford is only 6 miles away and has all the big supermarkets.
We went on the advertised forest walk following the supposed yellow 2 and a quarter mile walk. Either we are very dim or there arent enough yellow posts. We went wrong and it took us forever. Very enjoyable though. The dog loved it. We saw a deer very close to us too.
The facilities for children are superb. There is a play area and more importantly for my son, a huge area to play ball games in well away from the caravans and tents. Also had plenty of space to cycle safely in. He is 7 and says its his favourite site play area.
Be warned mozzies, oh my god. Husband wandered into the forest for less than two minutes to look down and see himself under attack. He was covered in bites so take precautions. We remained covered in spray for the rest of the weekend.
We had a fab visit and I didn't want to leave. I hope we will go back

Stayed here for a long weekend in May 2012. Very easy to find and a short drive from Cambridge, with some nice walks starting directly from the site. The place was very tidy and well-kept - I'm used to ordinary campsites, not caravan club places, so it all looked a bit like someone's manicured back garden to me. There were clear rules and helpful staff, but they weren't so uptight you couldn't relax and have a good time. Toilets and showers were spotlessly clean, even the gents which makes a nice change. The site was pretty busy and had a lot of families with kids so not the quietest break I've had, but there were no really antisocial people there and I've no doubt the wardens would have handled it if there were. Expensive if you're not a caravan club member but I understand rates are a lot cheaper if you are.

As First time campers we found Thetford Forest Camp Site delightful.
The staff we all very friendly and helpful. The site was much larger than I expected and there was more than enough room between us and our neighbour campers.
The lay out is logical and very well maintained. The heated bathroom facilities were always clean and well stocked with toilet paper. The other facilities were all immaculately kept as well.
The forest is well tracked out for leisure cycles or walks with lots of wildlife.
I hope all camp sites are like this one.
Thank you staff at Thetford Forest. Job well done!
