We love this campsite, and will keep coming back. It's great as a base for visiting Thetford forest (for cycling or other general enjoyment), or equally you can cycle straight from the site, up the Peddars Way, and within 20 minutes or so you can be at the lovely Chequers pub in the village of Thompson.
Cycling in the lanes near here is good in almost any direction, with quiet roads and lovely villages. The campsite itself is very well run, and you can be walking in the woods within 2 minutes of leaving your van or tent.
Each time we have been, we've seen (and heard) the roe deer which come right up to a few hundred yards from the campsite. If you hear barking at night, it's probably not dogs but roe deer!
Some visitors have commented they think the site is expensive, but as members, we find it excellent value. Thoroughly recommended.

This is a Camping and Caravanning Club site, located near the small village of Great Hockham and about 7 miles from both Thetford and Watton. The reception was very friendly and helpful and the site is laid-out in the regimented fashion one might expect from this Club. Our pitch was on grass - no problem with the tent pegs.
Toilets and showers were clean, modern and were never fully occupied during our stay (out of high season). Laundry and local information were much appreciated and there is a small shop selling basics, including maps. There is a pond, protected by a fence.
However, at £55 for two nights (non-members with hook-up) we thought the price was very steep.
There is a small pub in Great Hockham (~1.5 miles) which was friendly. The countryside around the site is great for cycling and walking and the wildlife is abundant. Watton and Thetford have all the shops and services you might need. Note that the site is close to an army training area, so there is a bit of noise from helicopters, etc.

We arrived here on Bank Holiday Monday for a 4 night half term break with two of our four children and our two dogs. The campsite was incredibly busy when we arrived but we were greeted and shown to our pitch really quickly. As we have a rather large family tent and dogs, we were shown to the overspill field where we had ample room for our 25ft tent, despite the field being pretty much full.
There are two toilet blocks on the site, both very well maintained and kept sparkling clean. We were pitched between the two so had a choice of venue for our shower which was great.
This site has a lovely large playground and separate field for ball games where the kids all accumulate and make friends. Being half term there were a large number of kids on site so I wouldn't advise childless couples to come here for a quiet break. Our two boys were in their element!
There is also bike hire available from behind the playground if needed which I think is a fantastic idea not often seen at c&cc sites. Activities are run from here during peak times but my boys preferred to just play on site with friends. There is a small fishing pond which seemed to be very well used. The site is situated within a forest and therefore is surrounded by beautiful walks, which was absolutely fabulous for our dogs and I thoroughly enjoyed my morning jogs round forest paths.
There is a great Tesco express near the campsite and a huge 24 hour Tesco (amongst other supermarkets) in Thetford, the campsite shop sold all the usual necessities and a small collection of camping equipment. There is also a fish and chip van that visits the site on various evenings although there did seem to be a large queue and we chose not to try them.
We found a lovely little pub about 5 mins from the site, The dog and deer (i think)that welcomed us with kids and dogs in tow. The landlady even rushed out to greet us with a bowl of water for the dogs!
We enjoyed a lovely day out in Cromer but it was a good 2 hours drive. Worth it though as it is a lovely beach.
The owners and wardens here were all very friendly and the site was well run. I think this is the most child friendly site I have been to and the kids didn't want to leave .In fact it took a while to find them once the car was packed and ready to go.
We will be back!

We have just got back from three nights away at this site. This is quite a large site and being half term and lovely weather it was just about fully booked. However despite this everyone had a really good sized pitch.
This is a camping and caravanning club site but non members are welcome but it does cost more.
The site welcomes just about every unit going, electric hook up is available and there are also camping pods.
The shower/toilet block was very clean, it is closed for an hour during the day to be cleaned but we used the facilities regularly at all times during our stay and never had any complaints. There is also good washing up facilities, waste disposal and a laundrette on site.
There is a small shop with basic supplies, it is quite pricey but no more so than on other sites where we have stayed, you can order a morning paper here. They do ask that you hire one of their leads for a good TV picture, there is a £30 refundable deposit and it then costs you £1 a night but it is worth it if you can't bear to miss the soaps when your away!
We took our bikes but you can hire bikes and there are 2 bike routes marked out from the campsite and lovely walks.
There is a good playground and large playing field for children. Fishing is also available on site.
A fish and chip van visits twice a week if your having a lazy day, but there were very large queues for this when we were there.
There is a pub that does meals about a mile and a half down the road, we didn't visit on this stay but may well do next time we go.
High Lodge is about 8 miles away and we had a great day here doing Go Ape, Thetford town is about 6 miles and market day here is on Tuesday, your also not far from Brandon and Watton for shopping.
We loved the site, staff were welcoming and friendly and we will definitely be going back.

A lovely, clean, well laid out site. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Facilities immaculate and lovely and warm. Cleaned thoroughly every morning. Washing up facilities under cover, clean and modern. Small shop for essentials.
Didn't get a true feel for the site as we camped in February and it was very quiet! Snow on the second day but we had great fun!
Play area good, walks in the forest would have been lovely apart from the dog poo everywhere!
Lovely location - we visited Thetford and used the leisure pool - really nice.
Very level pitches and well laid out - plenty of room but we did camp out of season.
Will definitely return to see what it's like in high season.

Despite visiting in mid Feb, the ground was still not muddy or slushy, even though we experienced snow 2-3 times during the 3 night stay, and every other season!
A very pleasant walk in the forest next door offered a posted 1-mile route that was easily achievable even for 'distance challenged' walkers like myself!
The shower/toilet block is possibly the best I have seen. Both clean and warm, with hot water instantly available.
The sites other amenities were also in abundance.
If I can be allowed one criticism, it would be the lack of a bar or clubhouse, otherwise perfect.

Stayed at this site for four nights over new years eve, wow what a lovely site, positioned in the heart of the forest, lovely walks and cycle routes, many go for several miles.
Site has spotless facilities, showers and toilets immaculate, hot showers. Sml shop on site, pitches nicely sized and well laid out and good drainage and level.
Staff very warm and welcoming, thoroughly enjoyed new eves in the marquee they had set up, and met up with staff new day for a five mile walk which we my children enjoyed.
We will be returning !

We stayed Friday and Saturday at this site. A very nice, well laid out site bordered by Thetford Forest. The toilets were spotless and very well maintained. There were a couple of very well marked out walks in the forest which was a nice touch. The on site dog walking facilities were disappointing, a very small stretch of grass right at the very outside of the site but with the forest so close this didn't really matter. The staff were very helpful and friendly, although the constant droning of a tractor on site all weekend was a little annoying. The on site shop was well stocked and newspapers were available and also internet at a small charge. We paid just over £20 all-in per night which I felt a little high being low season but we would definitely stay here again.

Lovely site ! This was our first experience of a caravan and camping club site, having previously been with the caravan club (we fancied a change this year). The facilities are spotless, very difficult to maintain due to the weather we had (quite a bit of rain), showers again, lovely and clean, and very warm. If your staying for a while they have an information shed with loads of leaflets about local attractions. Here you'll also find a lovely new washing machine and dryer, very handy!.
We took our bikes with us, and had a lovely ride round the nearby forest, two routes available, one being about a mile and a half, which the kids loved. The OH tested the longer route out on his own !. Great children's playarea, and a neighbouring field which is designated for football and kite flying. If your in to wildlife, again this is a fantastic site. At night, you can hear owls from the forest and also muncjack deer. Loads of birds flying around the site, chaffinches, and even a green woodpecker was seen. The wardens were all very very helpful. We will definitely return here, enjoy your stay !

What a lovely clean site and busy too considering its October, had 2 days of rain but still had a really good time. My 2 year old enjoyed the playground, would have been nice for a separate bit for toddlers though as it gets very busy.
There are lovely forest walks from site and Autumn is a good time to see it all red and gold, definite thumbs up from the dog!
Also a nice place to cycle around, peddars way coast path is close by and there is also a dismantled railway which makes a good cycle path, also there is Thompson Common & Water and the Great Pingo Trail.
All in all really enjoyed our time here and would definitely return
