We booked a 2 night stay for 40 adults and children of all ages, from the first contact made via email we were really well looked after, the site owner could not have been more helpful. We were met on arrival by the site manager and his wife who's names evade me, they were really friendly and helpful. We were shown to our own section of a field set aside Just for us. We all stayed in tents apart from one member of our party who came in a huge 8 birth motor home which the driver got in to the site with no issues. They actively encourage campfires and sale logs and kindling on site. The only facility apart from water taps was the toilet block which was a bit run down but clean and usable! I have since been told they are having a new block built for next year. We went to a local cider farm that we are familiar with Wilkins Cider farm. Well worth a visit as they not only sell the finest scrumptious cider they also have fantastic cheeses and other odds and sods ie pickled onions & chutneys.
All in all we had a fantastic time and were well looked after.
We are all looking forward to returning again next year!

A group of us headed out for our annual adults only weekend of camping and decided that this site would fit the bill.
Arrived at lunch time on a Friday that signaled the start of our summer proper and drove into a field that was idyllic. Surrounded by fields and total, utter peace. Pitched next to a water point and were promptly welcomed by the owner who found time for a bit of a chat. Sat and drank in the scenery as well as several G+Ts. Just about perfect in terms of setting and ability to pitch a tent where you want to not where you have to. A huge and pleasant surprise was to find a camp site that allowed camp fires! Was awesome laying next to the fire giggling away and watching the satellites race overhead.
The price of our stay was mega cheap but this was reflected in the lack of toilet facilities. Once the camp filled up with D of E children there was regularly queues to relive oneself. The addition of another toilet block in the top field would greatly raise the appeal of the sight. There isn't any showering facilities however there is an agreement to use the local leisure centre's which for a trifling fee was excellent.
The site is situated just on the outskirts of Cheddar but was suitably close enough to be able to walk into the gorge. It was also a short walk to the local Tesco for provisions.
I'd happily return to the site again though, had a thoroughly relaxing and happy weekend. To me this is what camping is- no electric, no creature comforts. Just good times and good company!

This is a really lovely site with fantastic views of the Mendip Hills and Cheddar Gorge.
We have visited the site a number of times and it has such a pleasant, relaxed and very friendly atmosphere. With loads of space for everyone, in around 30 acres of well maintained land. The ideal place to just relax and take in the scenery.
Cheddar Gorge is just up the road so a great location for sightseeing. We plan to camp here with friends soon and look forward to lighting a camp fire, soak up the peace and beautiful scenery for a very relaxing weekend away from it all.

This site was good, the owner was very friendly & gave both my boys a ride on his quad bike which they thought was fab, the tyre swing is a great idea for kids, could do with more play things but I think all parents want more entertainment for there kids :). We were on the upper field so had a long trek to the toilets which was not a nice experience especially at night ( it was a weekend of rain for us too) & also one toilet is not enough for both fields. For the price that is paid I would like somewhere where we could wash our plates & cutlery & maybe showers :) there are taps around the site for drinking water which is handy :). We had a nice time regardless of the weather & we loved the fact that open fires & BBQs are allowed. The location was great & it was quiet too. Recommended :). I've no complaints about the customer service which was fantastic from booking up to leaving :)

A fantastic camp site for those looking for 'proper' camping. Great location, within walking distance of the Gorge and a variety of pubs and supermarkets etc. Extremely friendly staff who kept coming round throughout the day to check if we were ok and if we needed anything. They will help with anything they can, our airbed pump wouldn't work but Jules was more than happy to fix it!
Would definitely return and encourage others to visit too. Thanks for a great stay!

I've stayed here several times over the years and we go family camping with our friends. Group of up to 10 tents.
It is basically two big fields with a small terrapin toilet block in one of them.
For us it is ideal. Plenty of space for us and for the kids to run around. Being able to have a fire straight on the ground (rather than a raised up fire pit) is great as it's warmer and easier for cooking. The wood is reasonably priced.
The only negative I could give is that the toilets could do with updating. They are not a mess, just getting old. The combination lock on the door was sticky making it difficult for my younger children to open the door. It did need an adult or a teenager to open the toilet door.
The location is perfect. Easy to find and a 20 - 30 min stroll (with young kids) in to Cheddar Gorge.
The owner is very friendly and easy going. Nice bloke and has been known to join us at the camp fire for a beer.
In summary a no frills very basic campsite, in a good location with plenty of space, friendly owner you can have a fire.
What more do you need.

This was the perfect site for getting away and enjoying some peace and quiet without any disturbance.
The owners were really friendly and greeted us as we arrived but once we were there they left us to ourselves and did not disturb us. Everything is managed in a very relaxed manner and informally.
We had a roaring fire, the owners even sold us firewood, we took advantage of the electrical hook up and the owner was kind enough to let us let off a few fireworks in the evening although I must stress we did this with his permission and with the permission of all other campers on site at the time.
The facilities themselves were a little bit basic although I have been informed by the owner that new toilets have been put in.
I would definitely recommend this site to anyone who likes to camp away from the glaring eye of unnecessarily nosy owners and just wants a laid back uninterrupted time.

This is a lovely campsite for views of the mendip hills and surrounding area, there is minimal traffic noise and just the sound of sheep in the neighbouring fields. The owner was more than helpful with local information and was ready to show us to our pitch even at 8. 30 in the morning! there are basic toilets and water points but no showers, these would complete the site although it wasn't a problem as we were only staying for the weekend.
The only down point though not a major problem is the grass was very long and could do with a cut but we knew that this was going to be a back to basics site when we booked it. Someone comes around with wood for your fire two or three times a night and all at a good price. It is a relaxed site where campers can pretty much get on and do what they like within reason and if we would return to the area then would also return to this site.

Stayed here for two nights over the bank holiday, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Warm and friendly greeting by the owner, made us feel very welcome. We were given a brochure which they had produced, giving an outline of facilities, do's and don't's, nearby attractions, supermarkets, takeaways etc. Which we found very handy. Some of the local businesses even offered a discount with the brochure - which was great! Small park for the children just opposite the campsite.
Toilet facilities were clean and well presented. Would have been nice to have showers, however we knew they didn't have them before going, and the owners checked that we knew that before going. Lots to do in the area, lovely location, and will definitely go again.

My girlfriend and I stayed here in August for the weekend and had a wonderful time. The owners of the site are diamonds and cant do enough to make sure you have a great stay. The site is surrounded by beautiful views whilst only being a ten minute walk into cheddar.
Its a real back to basics site where camp fires are encouraged rather than frowned on and we had a great time of an evening sat round the fire toasting our munchies and supping a few cold ones. There is a toilet block for the sole use of tent users but there are no showers on site. This didn't bother us in the slightest as we just boiled up some water on the fire and washed in the tents spare bedroom.
Although we travelled from the north of england to this site, we had the best time and will definitely be returning again.
