Second time at this great campsite. Very family friendly. We went with 2 other families and children. We has a tent, one family had a bell tent which was very spacious and the other family had a campervan. One of the best things is being able to have a fire!Staff come round with a wood and fire drum every night. Kids made friends with other children and played on the truck in the field. Great for them to have the freedom to run around and explore. Shower, toilet facilities etc all fine. Staff very friendly and a fresh coffee & catering van if you need it! extra bonus a great car boot next field!

We stayed here over the May bank holiday with 3 other families - children ranging between 6 and 13. We all had a brilliant time. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The kids especially loved meeting the animals and took part in t shirt dyeing. There was a food van on site which did bacon rolls in the mornings and burgers, jacket potatoes etc throughout the day and evening. It also did cooked meals on the evening - all very reasonable. The walk into town is only about 10 minutes away where there's a selection of shops & pubs. All in all, it was a lovely, relaxing site. My only comment would be that they could do with more toilets & showers and these could do with an upgrade. You had to be up early for a shower if you wanted to avoid queuing - definitely not enough facilities during busier periods. We will definitely be returning!

Perfect campsite, been coming for quite a few years, to celebrate birthdays and events in large
Groups and for a quiet weekend.
Ticks all the boxes, Jules and the team go above and beyond,
Each visit exceeds the previous.
Laid back, family friends, dog friendly, lots of space with fire pits and logs supplied ( delivered to your pitch)
Flat site so perfect for pushchairs and no sloping tents, 10 mins walk the the gorge,
Spotless facilities with hot showers including in the cost ( no need to take lots of change)
Fantastic and easy recycling station next to washing up area.
Have camped here in all weathers, as part of a large group and with family, cannot recommend highly enough.

Brilliant. Really laid back - so nice not to have loads of rules and as a result people behave respectfully. Lovely helpful staff. Great base to explore the local. Great for dogs. Will definitely go back.

We had a lovely time at Petruth Paddocks even though our 3 year old son was conspiring against us with tent poles needing repairing due to him 'helping' me and a flat car battery after he'd left my lights on.
The campsite was very good at catering for families and Jules came around after dark ensuring children where playing by their parents tents which I thought was very good. My Son made countless friends with children in tents near by which showed us how friendly the sites occupants where.
There was some load noises in one of the nights with cattle being moved in the field next door but I heard nothing with earplugs in but my partner was woken at 2. 30am. Given your in the countryside you can ignore it being it was one night. Moral is use earplugs when camping anywhere!
The relaxed atmosphere was great and having a real campfire helps have a focal point for the evening as well as warmth. The toilet and shower facilities were basic but well cleaned (cleaner there everytime I went and used them) but this was a busy weekend so they had to be kept clean. The Coffee pod on site was a nice idea although I did think rather expensive at 9. 20 for two large coffee (Americano's) and two small Pain au Chocolates that were not fresh. However if its just coffees then its nice to have proper coffee and not instant.
I had a problem with my car battery as mentioned with my son, Jules was very helpful and came over when I asked him and gave me a jump start and all was well again - like I say very helpful.

Absolutely loved this amazing campsite! Just returned from a 10 night stay here, so relaxed & laid back, really didn't want to leave! Loved the fact you could have campfires, toasted many marshmallows & cooked dinner on it too. Our 2 teenage daughters who were horrified when we told them we were not having an electric pitch (although there are some available here) had a great time & said it was their best holiday ever, can't get higher praise than that! Only a 10 min walk to Cheddar, Sainsburys & Tesco express within walking distance. Lovely coffee van on site every morning & fabulous pizza cooked on site on a Saturday evening. Even had visits from an ice cream van driving round. Toilets kept very clean & amazing hot, powerful showers too. We can't wait to return again. Thank you to Jules & the team for a lovely holiday.

Just spent 4 very relaxing and enjoyable nights at Petruth Paddocks. The owners/staff at the site were very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The site is level, with reasonable sized hard standing pitches along with a very relaxed approach to pitching tents. You can choose where you would like your tent - as long as it's not on a hook up pitch. Dogs are allowed off the lead, which was much appreciated by our dog. Campfires are not only allowed - but encouraged! The owner provides everything for your campfire for a small cost and even does a log run around the site each evening so you don't even have to collect it. Toilets and showers were very clean. It is only a 10/15 minute walk into Cheddar village, where there are Sainsbury and Tesco supermarkets. A further 5 minute walk brings you to Cheddar Gorge, with all its attractions. There is a cycle path to the village, so would definitely take our bikes next time. An added bonus is that the local pizza shop will deliver to your pitch. Would definitely recommend this site.

Excellent campsite with hot showers and really helpful staff and owners. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed our stay, thank you very much. Customer Service is second to none and the pitch sizes were more than adequate. A firm favourite was the on pitch fire, which makes the stay so much more enjoyable, and the equipment is brought to you!

Great campsite. We were a group of 4 lads - excluded from most campsites as most would not welcome a single sex group. We just wanted a few days chill before we went our separate ways to uni. Booked last minute. Recommended to us by a work colleague. Great location. Close to pubs, shops, cafes and the gorge. Was a good base. Plenty of space. Great to be able to have a campfire. Perfect! Many thanks for been so accommodating.

Our family had a fantastic couple of nights staying here in one of their excellent shepherd's huts. We're not great campers (hence the shepherd's hut - and our surname's 'Crook'!), so were especially grateful of the friendly assistance we were given when we proved incompetent at getting our BBQ lit, amongst other things. May have even changed our general opinion of campsites as this was relaxed, friendly and very comfortable - despite the rain! The toilets even had Dyson Airblades and potpourri!
