My girlfriend and I stayed here in August for the weekend and had a wonderful time. The owners of the site are diamonds and cant do enough to make sure you have a great stay. The site is surrounded by beautiful views whilst only being a ten minute walk into cheddar.
Its a real back to basics site where camp fires are encouraged rather than frowned on and we had a great time of an evening sat round the fire toasting our munchies and supping a few cold ones. There is a toilet block for the sole use of tent users but there are no showers on site. This didn't bother us in the slightest as we just boiled up some water on the fire and washed in the tents spare bedroom.
Although we travelled from the north of england to this site, we had the best time and will definitely be returning again.

This was the first time I had been to this campsite, I was a little surprised at first as there was only a toilet block on site, but they were very clean and tidy. I found it to be a very laid back and pleasant place with plenty of room between other tents and for my son to play.
There were plenty of shops nearby, they were within walking distance, as were the restaurants, which was nice as I didn't have to keep taking the car all the time. It was lovely to hear and seethe horses behind the tent as we love horses.
My son wanted a campfire on the last night and they were very helpful in dealing with this as they do encourage camfire's, we like camping the way it used to be and this offer just that.
We will definitely be visiting this campsite again in the near future.

We only stayed for 1 night, but had a very enjoyable visit! Lovely large field, not too overcrowded and we had a choice of where to pitch. We had 5 tents full in total and managed to set up a great area.
Being able to light our own campfire was great and I would highly recommend buying the sacks of logs from Jules - we bought 2 sacks which was plenty enough! Lovely walk into Cheddar from the site, easy to find and great little shops to look in.
Don't bother going to the Bath Arms Pub, service and food was Awful! Definitely worth the extra 10 minute walk to find a decent pub.
Very basic toilet block, only 1 toilet was working, and a very small sink, but Jules did prepare us for this.
Jules is a fab host, and always replied to my emails very efficiently!
Apart from the huge thunder and lightening storm at 4am (typical english weather in August!) Overall we all had a great time.

We arrived a day or two after the 'rains' had finished so the tent field needed a cut and was a bit soft in places.
However what a beautiful location, look one way and you have the fields and droves of the Somerset levels, look the other way and you have the Gorge and Mendip hills. Cheddar is about 10-15 min walk away.
We had a great time (Me and my som) cycling, walking, caving, then back to the campsite for a relaxing evening infront of the fire.
Lastly the owners were friendly and helpful.

Excellent site. Well within walking distance to Cheddar and Cheddar Gorge. Very friendly staff. It was nice and unusual to have the option of being able to have a bonfire, we did not this time but will next.
We were able to enjoy the other campers fires at night. It would have been nice to have a toilet block nearer but the one available was very clean.
The site information did very clearly state that there were only toilets.
But it would be nice to have showers and a place to wash up cooking pots etc.

Returned from this site yesterday and had a lovely time.
However despite a pre warning phone call there was no one to greet us and we ended up in the rally field. Two children informed us of our mistake and we found our way up to the right place. The field was large, and the ground was great for pitching. The boys with us, enjoyed the army jeep to climb on, the rope swing and having a ride on Julian's quad. The girl with us was disappointed there was no sign of any pony rides though.
We were informed of the code for the toilets over the phone and met in the evening. Everyone we met were friendly and helpful.
The walk into cheddar was an easy 10 minutes along a footpath away from any roads.
Two downsides; toilets were a very long, muddy walk from the camping field and very basic. Only two toilets for each sex and the door was so heavy the 9 yr old had to accompanied every time just to get in and out. Also the site is very close to industrial units and I was woken by their machinery quite early each morning

Thankyou for a pleasant stay. We found the veiws of the surrounding area peaceful. Our 7 year old daughter enjoyed the tyre swing, which we thought was a nice touch.
The local advice to take the pedestrian route into Cheddar town centre was really appreciated.
As we toured Somerset and Devon, we stayed on various sites and found that most included the price of hook up in the overnight stay.
At the price you were asking it would have been nice to have been able to use the toilet block.
We appreciate that the location of your site dictates the price you are able to ask.
Thankyou for a lovely, friendly welcome and continuing concern that we had what we needed,

Visited Petruth Paddocks at the end of July 2012, had a lovely sunny weekend,
easy to find and Jules was there to welcome us, he gave us a brilliant booklet on all the places in the area we could visit which also got you discounts which was great!
Like it says on the website its camping how it used to be which was just what we wanted, you have access to water and toilets and you can buy fire wood for a small charge for a camp fire.
We went with two other families and all the kids had a great time and we are already trying to plan our next visit!

'Me and Kelly had such a good time camping here! You only have to walk 10 minutes and you are in the centre of Cheddar which is a beautiful place. There are lots of walks you can do from the campsite and we indulged in a spot of climbing and caving at the Gorge.
Loads of local pubs which all seamed nice and on a rainy day you can go Go Karting which is a 5min walk away.
I'm planning to come back to Petruth in July for a weekend of Mountain Biking, Climbing and Hiking so I can't wait.
Thanks to Julian, Sandra, Steve and Kelly for making us feel so welcome. We'll be back soon'

Amazing weekend spent here. Excellent hosts, and awesome area. The local village centre is a 15min walk away, Cheddar Gorge Walk is 20min walk away.
Toilet facilities are okay, water taps located in multiple locations, controlled open fires are allowed making the experience better (closer to camping in a forest somewhere).
Definitely going back here next year. Me and all my friends had an amazing four days here, and there was no rush to leave, the owner Jules told us we could stay all day Sunday (our last day) which was great because we had a brilliant day Sunday relaxing making sure we had everything.
Definitely recommend this site for all the family. L
