What a fantastic little site, C&C club members only though I think.
Fabulous views great walk through woodland to the shoreline.
Very well spaced pitches you even have your own picnic bench.
Very clean facilities, very helpful owner.
I would recommend the chippy in Kirkcudbright (Kirkubree)
Only reason not 10 out of 10, is because nothing outside of nature is perfect.

We're just back from staying at the Solway View Caravan & Camping site.
All I can say is 5 stras!
Can't fault it at all. The site itself is very clean, tidy and well kept. The facilities are excellent. Nice modern and very clean toilet and shower block with plenty of hot water etc.
The site was full on our 2nd night but I never had to queue to use the facilities. There is a great wash room for all to use. The wooden play park and tree swing were very popular with the children and was well used during our stay.
The pitches are well spaced out providing everyone with plenty of space around their tents even when the site was full up. As said in other reviews, there is a picnic table located at each pitch and a very substantial wheel on each pitch to have camp fires in.
Logs can be bought from the owners Neil & Patricia for £5 per bag. Little Archie (the owners son) even brought ours to the tent for us!
Mobile phone reception was very good on site too.
A great camp-site owned and run by a very nice couple who are always at hand if you need anything. We will definitely be returning to the site in the next couple of months.

Arrived in fabulous weather, if not a little windy, but we were expecting that being so close to the sea.
We checked in at Reception and were shown to out pitch by the owner, we were given pitch number 9, this was on a corner with lovely sea views. It was very spacious with picnic bench and fire pit.
We purchased a bag of fire wood, which was huge, hoping to use Friday night. We set up camp, and went on one of the walks that you can take from the site, one of the walks is to a small cove, through fields of sheep and bluebells, there is also wild garlic which smelt lovely. The cove was a delight, the sun was shining and the breeze warm.
Towards the evening it was noticeable that the wind had got up, we thought that this may have been due to the tide going in and out, and the sun going down, although after talking to other campers they mentioned that the rest of the week had still weather, needless to say, the sun went down, and we bunkered down for what we knew was more than likely going to be a sleepless night due the the winds.
We got the kids bedded down for the night, and me and the other half sat holding the poles so that the tent didn't bend. Low and behold at 11.30 the poles snapped, the kids were told to wake and get in the car.
In the dead of night we got what we could from the tent, flattened it, so that the wind didn't catch it and remove it from the guy ropes, and all had a kip in the car. Needless to say come Saturday we had to abandon the trip and head for home.
Mobile reception was good, not that I phoned anybody, but was trying to get a weather report!
The site itself if fabulous, spotless washing facilities, very friendly owners, and stunning views of the bay, and surrounding area. The site is about 5 miles from Kirkudbright, through some stunning scenery.Shame the trip didn't last more than 24 hours.
We will be returning with a different tent, later in the year, hopefully, there just maybe less breeze.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at solway view, price for tent with electric hook up just £66 for the two of us with dogs been free. Very happy with time away lots to see and do in local area and most of them free and dogs are allowed.
Site itself nice and quiet, very big pitches but be careful when pitching tent as not all the space given is flat, showers free a bonus when most charge and both showers and toilets were clean.
Good area to wash up in the cookhouse had fab weather so no need to use indoor hobs provided, owners nice and friendly but not on top of you. Really nice to sit around campfire looking at stars. Will return soon as still have lots to see in area

Me and my friend stayed here for two nights and loved it.
When we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the owners. They were very friendly. They explained the facilities of the camp very well. We had the best view in the campsite. It was overlooking the sea. The weather was brilliant.
A bit windy at night but that was ok. The surrounding walks were really nice and our dogs loved it. Te facilities were very clean and tidy. They had proper pits for campfires which was nice and controlled so they are safer. We really didn't want to leave.
The place was really nice and helped you forget about home for a couple of days which was what I needed.

Spent 5 of our 6 night booked stay here. Overall I would recommend this site but I don't think I would come back again.
On plus side the facilities were very clean, though 2 showers could get busy in the evenings and after 7.30am. The cook shed was a great idea for rain & wind cooking. Again more than 1 sink to wash up in would have been helpful.
The site is very quiet after 10pm (sometimes even before!) so some of my best ever camping sleep. The fire pits are a brilliant idea & the walks around the site to cove were great. Also the pitches are very big, so you don't feel at all cramped.
Slightly cons are that our pitch (no 10) was very exposed, and the wind was insane. One night battering the tent from two directions, hence our decision to go to B&B for final night. Some of the other pitches are more sheltered so probably okay, but considering a night temp of 4c in Aug + wind the cold did start to get a bit too much!

This is probably the best campsite we have ever been to! The owners are very welcoming and don't hassle you at all. We used the EHU tent pitches and they are massive! You could probably get 3 tents on each pitch! So nice not to be packed in like sardines. The owners are therefore not into just making money but ensuring that you have a pleasant stay.
I was worried about the limited number of toilets/ showers but we never had to queue for either. They are very clean and provide constant hot water. Initially, I usually choose sites with washing machines/ dryers but actually I was able to drop off my laundry at the launderette in Kirkcudbright and it was done for me!
My daughters loved the wooden play area! The woodland walk from the site was lovely to White Bay. Kirkcudbright is a lovely town. The fish and chips at 'Polarbites' were very good! The surrounding area is great if you want to explore 'The Wickerman' trail. (It was filmed across Dumfries and Galloway!) We will definitely be back and I certainly recommend this site!

I had never been to this part of the world before but having now visited would definitely return to both the campsite and the Kirkcudbright area.
The site has a small number of caravan pitches near the toilet block with the track then working its way past the wigwams before opening up on to the main camping field. The pitches are large. I initially thought the site owner was indicating the space occupied by our car and her car was the pitch but I need not have worried as it was much more spacious and the largest EHU pitch I have camped on.
Despite the size of the field we managed to hit the water pipe to the cookhut, which was buried only an inch or so below the ground, but this was promptly repaired by the owner and waterlogging was avoided!
The site has a modern clean toilet block and a “cookhut” with tables and gas – this is very handy and is also needed as there is no hot water for washing up. The site also benefits from excellent coastal views and walks which take in old graveyards, woodland and coves including an excellent small sandy cove under 10 minutes walk from the site – we had a barbeque on a sunny Saturday evening with the beach to ourselves.
The use of a picnic table on each pitch and a fire pit are very welcome. Laundry facilities and gas are available at nearby Brighouse Bay, although they were out of CampingGaz for a large part of our stay and the next nearest stockist appears to be in Castle Douglas.
The road by the site goes to a dead end and has virtually no passing traffic and so with this and well spaced pitches there is no noise once it gets dark – except perhaps for that of nearby sheep and cattle.
There are plenty of indoor and outdoor facilities in the area. Threave Castle and the Forest Parks are certainly worth a visit as are nearby beaches such as Brighouse Bay. The Cocoa Bean Factory is good for children as is Cream O Galloway (although pond dipping was poorly organised during our visit – and for which their customer service was excellent in making amends).
Kirkcudbright itself was a very nice town to be based near with a good fresh fish shop (local produce including crab) and its associated chip shop next door and a number of other eating establishments.
If visiting in Summer it is certainly worth taking in some of the Kirkcudbright summer festivities – the Scottish night on Thursday in the town square was good as was “Maggie’s Tour” which is a walking tour on a Friday with locals in costume acting out events from the 1650s. The Summer events are either free or very low cost and are a credit to the town.
As well as being a good site it also has the added benefit of being competitively priced and so I would certainly recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I came here in mid June and had a wonderful time.
The campsite is a CCC listed site so you will need to be a member to book or join on-site. We arrived at the farm reception before the site entrance and Neil was very helpful and showed us to our pitch. The site has 5 hard-standing touring pitches, 3 wigwams and 10 Camping pitches (some with electric). The toilet block is brand new, spotlessly clean and accessed via security code on the door.
The site also has a lovely extra facility of the 'cookhouse'. This shed is a communal facility where you can wash your dishes but also use a gas hob if the weather is inclement.
The camping space itself is lovely and set out in a circular fashion with the tents facing into the centre of the circle. Next to the pitches is a brand new kids playground which looked good and is still within sigh of your tent.
The pitches themselves are very large and each comes with its own picnic table and fire pit. Logs and kindling are available from Neil for £5.
The surrounding area and beaches are lovely with plenty to do. I could not recommend this site any more - Fantastic!

Agree with all the previous reviews. Excellent site that really captures the spirit of camping. Our two kids aged 6 & 8 yrs were off our hands most of the time whilst on site.
Best for us was Sea view pitch, Firepit, Cookhouse was a great change to cook and eat our meal. Access to beaches and woodland walk. Went for a swim at the large site down the road when it rained.
Kids loved the snake handling at the wildlife park, and the chocolate factory visit.
Already booked to return.
