Just returned from a fab weekend at this site. One of the best I have stayed in 9 years of camping. Spacious pitches, well maintained grass area, excellent toilet / shower facilities and good walks from site. All pitches have a campfire and a picnic table each.
Nearest shops are in Kirkcubright which is 5 miles drive away. A lovely town with lots of shops and a good takeaway next to harbour.
Lovely walk from site down to pretty much private beach as well as a dog walk area where they are allowed off leads.
Only improvements I would suggest is a small on site shop selling essentials as well as wifi.
Definitely return.

Arrived after quite a trek down a mainly single track road with a few passing places and it was obvious that locals were reluctant to use them and towing a twin axle, space at times was tight. On arrival, the owner told me what pitch number we were on but didn't advise that the gate onto site itself was quite tight to swing our unit into but thankfully, only caught the hedge with the van and not the wall or gatepost.
The views were spectacular from our pitch which was a good size, ample room for van, awning and car. We were allowed to nose onto pitch which on some sites is frowned upon.
The site itself consists of camping pods, tenting area's and 7 caravan pitches. The main tenting area's were well maintained, I did feel the van area though looked a little neglected. Lovely to have a site in the countryside and one which doesn't suffer from light pollution at night.
We found a few walks from site but due to weather conditions, some were a little difficult with the underfoot terrain being slippy in places. We did 7 nights and for us, it was probably 2 nights 2 many due to lack of longer dog walks from site but off the road which locals again sped along.
The wildlife was abundant, we saw owls, deer, rabbits and sheltered in the shower block a Lapwing nest with chicks. We loved watching also the few cows, sheep and horses that shared a field next to the site.
We liked this site enormously due to it's remoteness but did feel quite isolated at times and the journey into Kirkcudbright for essential supplies was arduous.
Would have been better to have had a basics shop on site for milk, bread etc as these were the only things I needed but had to do a 10 mile round trip to get them.
Will not visit this site again but the area is beautiful and we are glad to have experienced it.

Family of four plus one pooch - we stayed in one of the wigwams.
This is a great site with good facilities and friendly helpful owners. The camp kitchen is a big plus with gas hobs and plenty of equipment and space to sit and eat.
The pod was comfortable with enough room for us all and lovely views across the Kirkcudbright Bay. Firepit was ideal for barbecueing.
Lovely walks from the site to the beaches, play area for the children.
Clean warm washrooms. Loved the sheiling for drying items.
Lots of walking and exploring in the area, and there are lots of places to eat nearby in Kirkcudbright.

Fabulous friendly welcome on arrival at site, pitches extremely large, Plenty of room for tent /car/ eating and playing.
The two toilet blocks were spotless, and we never had to queue. Site was very quiet though so not sure how the toilets/showers would be if site was full.
The scenery was fantastic, plenty to see and do in the area ( daughters are 8 and 14) didn't have time to do any of the recommended walks from site, fellow campers on site certainly enjoyed them.
Bought firewood on site and enjoyed toasting marshmallows on fire pit provided on pitch.
Would certainly return to Solway View if visiting the area again x

This is a fantastic campsite set in a beautiful location.
The pitches are large and there is plenty of space between units.
The facilities are first rate with the added touch of communal kitchens/dining areas being available. If you are in a large group it would be possible to hold a feast.
This is the second time I have used this site and it certainly won't be the last.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay on this lovely quiet campsite. Pitches were spacious and plenty of room between. I enjoyed having a campfire and walking down to the little beach and climbing on the rocks, also the walk in the opposite direction to the little graveyard by the sea.
The toilet facilities were all very clean and there's a cooking hut for when the weather is wet with everything you could need.
It's a lovely area with lots of beautiful coastline and easy to get to, well worth a visit.

This is a great site, well thought out with provisions for campers and glampers alike. The site had huge pitches each with a picnic table and benches as well as a fire pit provided. The sites facilities were first rate, clean and tidy toilet and shower units and a very welcome addition of a cookhouse and washing up area that had tables and benches and was very useful shelter on our second night when the rain came down hard. It was only a 5 minute walk down to White Bay at the mouth of the River Dee and some stunning views of the Solway Firth could be seen from all parts of the site. The hosts were friendly and informative and provided plenty of information leaflets about the surrounding areas. Rates were very reasonable for such a well provided for site. I would certainly visit again.

Stayed here with 2 friends for a wee birthday break and had a great time. The prices are very reasonable and the owners are very nice and friendly - not intrusive and will just let you get on with your break. The site is in a great location for touring and/or for staying on site and walking or just enjoying the peace and quiet. We were directed to our site area and give the option to pitch wherever we liked. Pitches as quite flat and well looked after. There's and old steel wheel as a fire pit (excellent) and a picnic bench too! The toilet and shower facilities were always really warm and clean which is a real bonus. Free showers. We had great weather but would have used the hut kitchen if needed - lots of utensils etc free to use. We didn't buy any of the products on sale except firewood (which was easy to burn and gave off a great heat) but we will be back and we are looking forward to trying some of the fresh eggs and vegetables. At night the gate to the site is closed which made it feel very secure. There's plenty room for lots of tents and caravans and wigwams. You won't feel squashed in to a tight pitch. Highly recommended - and I camp all over Scotland. Already planning our next visit!

I doubt if we've ever been on a site that beats this one for value for money, friendliness, and location. The owners have a dedication to providing the experience of being on a working farm, while making you feel welcome. For touring units there is an area with hook ups, looking out over the lovely Soleway Firth; each pitch is spaced well apart with a picnic table and bbq (wood available on site). The camping area is below and seemed equally well laid out. There are sufficient showers and washing up facilities, all kept clean and well appointed.
There is a handy leaflet available for local walks. We also set off to walk to Kirdubright (a nice town); half along a lovely forest walk (from the old cemetery) to a picnic area, but the rest (not so nice) along the road. While we were staying we also got to see the birds of prey that a friendly chap was keeping on site. So yes, 10 out of 10 for us, and we want to come back.
