Great secluded site, huge pitches with picnic bench and wood burner included, outstanding views right across the Solway. Excellent dog walks and trails and a beautiful bay just 5 mins drive at Brighouse. Not to far from A75 to access local attractions and towns. Approach roads a little tight and hairy but worth the worry when you get there. Will be visiting again next year hopefully. Overall excellent.

Excellent site, friendly owners. Clean and tidy the facilities are kept clean and are excellent. Every pitch is spacious (even with our 8 birth tent) comes with a firepit. Freezer available for use. Very child friendly with well equipped play area that the kids love. Location is excellent with some stunning views of the solway coast, with some secluded little beaches 5 mins walk from site. I would definitely recommend this site to anyone and would definitely go back next year.

This is the best site we have been to by far. The owners are really friendly & helpful & keep the facilities spotless. The site has a fantastic view over the Solway Firth & is so peaceful.
We made full use of the recyclable picnic table & burned logs in the log burner every night, the kids loved toasting marshmallows. The pitches are a really good size with caravan on hardstanding & awning on grass. We were there as a group of 2 caravans & were able to be awning to awning which is so much more sociable.
The kids loved the play area especially the rope swing & we had plenty of room to put up a badminton net by our pitch. There are 2 beaches within walking distance through a wood, one with rocks & another one with lovely pebbles & sand. There is also an interesting graveyard a short walk away with the grave of a smuggler marked with skull & crossbones.
We made use of the shop at a larger caravan site about 1 mile away for bread & milk. We loved the Cream of Galloway ice cream, the Scottish night in Kircudbright, Castle Douglas & Threave Castle. We will definitely be back despite it being over 300 miles away.

I was fortunate enough to be able to book a wigwam at the very last minute, as I was originally going to take my large tent
My four children and I were very please with the wigwams and sites facilities.
The wigwam included pay as you go electricity and lighting, a kettle, microwave and fridge. All were clean and working.
The site was pleasant, clean and tidy too, with close by bins and standing taps for fresh water.
The toilets and showers were well kelp and tidy and were warm too.
The local walks through the near by wood were a fine, some areas were quite steep, but a majority of the paths were passable even for younger children.
The farmer was very polite, courteous and friendly.
The 'stuff for sale' in the house, e. G. Electric tokens, eggs, bags of marshmallows, lighter packs and wood for the 'fire pit' was reasonably priced and more importantly available!
However, I did mention the need for wooden skewers for toasting the marshmallows.
The site is off the beaten track, quiets and picturesque, I would definitely go there again.

Had a great couple of days at the Solway View.
We were given a friendly welcome and were shown to our pitch in the bottom field with a fabulous view.
The pitches are very spacious and each one comes with a firepit and picnic table. Wood is available from the farmhouse. Toilets are clean and there are dish washing sinks/fresh water taps and a recycling area.
The site is off a single track road and feels very safe. The kids had a ball in the playpark, especially the tree swing.
A short meander through a field and a wood brings you to a lovely bay.
The only negative I can think of is that, if like us you don't use EHU, you have to travel a few miles to get fresh milk etc but that is a small price to pay.
Fantastic site and we'll definitely be back.

2nd year in a row we've stayed here and love the site!
Last year we were in the main camping area which has massive pitches and surrounds a central grass area, perfect for kids.
There is also a good sized play area with a slide, a wooden house/climbing frame and a rope swing.
This year we were right next to the main gate, but no issues, on one of the trailer tent pitches.
All pitches have log burners on them and for a good price you can buy kiln dried logs at the farm. Some good nights spent roasting marshmallows!
Walks from the site are plentiful, favourites of our kids are visiting the small beach and going to see the pirate grave!
Pitches are level and of very good quality ground and are huge!
There is a bunkhouse for washing up (with hot water) and it also has some stoves and plenty of bench seats and tables if you want to cook and eat indoors.
Toilet facilities are great with the main building having 2 showers and 2 toilets and 3 sinks. There is also another toilet block further down the site that can cater for peoples needs as well.
All in all a lovely small site that we hope to visit many times in the future!

We spent four days and nights at this fantastic site. There was a mix up with the booking and we ended up beside the caravans on pitch number 3. We had great views being slightly higher up. Our pitch was huge and we had to position the tent at an angle due to the prevailing wind. Shower and toilet block were kept nice and clean. The pot wash facility was further down the site next to the tents. There is only one sink for doing your dishes but it was not very busy during our stay so not a problem. There are further toilet and shower facilities here for the campers. It's a new amenity block and again was kept clean and tidy.
The play-park was a big hit for our two kids, especially the rope swing. There is a nice walk through the sheep field down to the water. We used the fire pit which is on every pitch. You can buy wood in reception. The fire pits on the caravan pitches are raised and the tent pitch pits are ground level. There is also a very handy picnic bench on every pitch. The campers kitchen can be found in-between the EHU and non hook up pitches for food preparation and cooking. There is a fridge and freezer for campers use too.
We would definitely love to return some day to Solway View. I just wish it was not so far away.

This site is a true gem, the facilities are outstanding spotlessly clean and modern. The views from the site over the Dee estuary are simply superb. We stayed on the touring caravan area, all the pitches are hard standing complete with EHU, BBQs and picnic tables. All pitches have easy access to chemical and waste water disposal areas, the site has several wigwam pitches and a camping field all the pitches are spacious and each area is separated. The owners maintain to the site to very high standards offering a friendly and warm welcome. In our opinion both of the big clubs could learn a lot from the management of this site.
Walkers are also well catered for, there are a number of interesting scenic walks direct from the site, so no need to use the car. Shopping is available in Kirkudbright, nice town easy parking.
A fabulous site with excellent facilities, we will be back as soon the health permits.

Great site with brilliant views, nice walk through forest to sandy beach. Facilities spot on, clean an warm. Really great to relax an just watch the scenery. Kirkcudbright 5 miles away, lovely wee fishing port. Tesco in town and a co-op. The owners of the site sell their own eggs and couldn't have been friendlier. Will definitely be going back. Was perfect for our needs and the dog loved it, but keep on leash.

We spent a fantastic week on this idyllic site. The pitches are huge and have picnic benches and fire pits, the views are stunning, the shower block is immaculate and the site itself is small, simple and safe for the kids to play around. The owners could not have been more friendly or more helpful and really give the site a very particular, personal character.
I would have to say that this is one of the best sites I know - my only concern is that the toilet block and cook house could be over stretched if the site was full, but we'd happily put up with that.
We liked it so much, we've booked up for the first May holiday weekend.
