We have just returned from a weekend at this campsite which we enjoyed very much. There is a field for caravans with 5 hook-ups along one wall. There is no hardstanding but the grass is nice and short and the hook-up side of the field is fairly flat.
However the field does slope upwards towards the top so if you camp in this field you may find yourself on a bit of a slope! The toilets and showers are pretty basic but ok (They aren't in a proper building -the toilet block is in a lorry trailer type thing and the shower and potwashing area in a large trailer with the wheels dug into the ground. That sounds worse that it really is!)
There was plenty of toilet paper and hot water and the shower was a pleasure to use. No pushing buttons in every few seconds! The area is beautiful and there is a great walk over the fields to the pub at Monyash.
My only disappointment was the price. It cost myself and my husband and daughter £46 for two nights with hook-up. Every little thing seems to incur an extra price per night! Although I like the site I have stayed in sites with far better facilities for much much less. A shame really.

We spent a long weekend here at the end of May and found it to be quiet and relaxing. The facilities were clean and adequate. Had to queue for the showers (even though the site wasn't full) but the water was hot and free!
A little gripe as there was only one sink for wash up which really isn't sufficient for a site of this size. We had lots of space around our pitch and the children really enjoyed the space which enabled them to play without being a bother to others.
Lovely views. On the whole a lovely clean well maintained site but a tad expensive. Would stay there again if in the area.

Have arrived back from the Peaks after a very enjoyable trip. We had booked a pitch with EHU and were allowed to choose from 6 pitches. All of which were (well almost) flat with plenty of space between. The site is in nice surroundings with a feeling of remoteness and you have to listen hard to hear the A515 a mile away. The views from the site aren't spectacular but nice country scenery and the site itself is nice.
What I liked:
- From arrival at our site the staff were very approachable and helpful.
- Having a camp fire is lovely and the wood is priced very reasonably at £2.50 per bag of logs / kindling.
- Not loads of rules and regulations.
- Electric hook ups well spaced.
- Toilets / Showers hot, clean and modern if a bit limited in quantity.
- Almost silent at night during the week before the weekend invasion apart from the odd plane flying in / out Manchester.
- Indoor washing up area.
- Shops close by in Bakewell / Buxton.
A few whinges:
- Never any real queues for toilets or showers to speak of however if the site gets much busier then there might be. A few more showers might be in order.
- In the shower cubicle there is little plastic window thing high up however you can't open it. It would be nice if you could open a vent as in hot weather I could barely breathe - not good for asthma sufferers.
- By the main Portable cabin toilets there are two Portable loo's, No. 1's only according to the sign. These would be better strategically spaced around the site as its a pain to keep walking back and forth.
- On Saturday night there was a noisy group who failed to have any consideration for other campers - up talking loudly and people wandering across the field whistling loudly at 1:30am. Signs indicate that it is a 'quiet campsite' and that any antisocial behaviour should be reported to the farm house with a number displayed. I was on the verge of reporting the noise makers when they eventually shut up.
- No recycling facilities that I could see.
- Finally, this site is under the flight paths in and out of Manchester Airport. As an aviation enthusiast this didn't bother me but people should be aware of it so they know what they're in for.
Summary:
I really like this site and will visit again. I find there are many sites which don't have loads of rules with an ethos of 'be nice or leave' and it works.
However if there is just one rule that they need here it should be a curfew which is checked on and enforced as noise seems to be a popular complaint in these reviews. With niggles aside though, this is a great site with pleasant staff and decent facilities.

Just got back from a weekend break in the peaks. We had a fabulous time, it was just what we'd hoped for.
The campsite is spot on, not too expensive, good pitches, facilities although basic were very clean. Couldn't have asked for more for the price. There isn't a shop on site so a bit of thought about what you need is required. There's so much to see and do in the surrounding area and knotlow farm is a perfect base to do it from.
Would and will definitely return in the near future.

We visited this site early May Bank holiday.
Not busy due to gloomy weather forecast. Spent 1 night on a cold night, but loved it as we had plenty of room and great surprise in that we could have a fire, in cast iron basket.
A working farm and stables, and lovely location. No play ground but for that reason suited us. Had room to play cricket hopefully would be able to when site busy
Owner lovely and very welcoming. Facilities ideal and lots of hot water.
Will definitely visit again

Found this site while roaming about the Peak District. They have a very good entrance road, the toilets were clean and well stocked and the owners were very pleasant.
We only stayed one night as we were moving on to other areas, we were visiting the town of Buxton which is not far away by vehicle, worth a visit.
If we are in the area we will definitely visit again, maybe when it’s a little warmer than -3 in the night.

I really enjoyed the stay here mainly because for most of the time we were the only ones on the site but that was due to the time of year rather than anything else. It was a very cold weekend for camping! Thank goodness for the fires. We used the supplied fire basket for our fire which was excellent and got a good roaring fire.
The field had a bit of a slope but was fine and it was easy to pitch. We took a spot next to the hedge to keep out of the wind. The views from the site were lovely as was the surrounding area. Site was in easy reach of Peak District attractions. The owner was very friendly too.
The small toilet and shower block was a portable cabin but I found it clean and perfectly adequate.
Would recommend this site.

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend as we needed to be near Bakewell for a balloon ride. One of the good things about this site was that it also did a lovely B&B so my daughter and her husband (who were also involved in the trip) could stay near us.
The site is quite easy to get to and is in a quiet location, with no road noise. I expect that if it doesn’t get too busy it could be rather peaceful, but unfortunately, probably because of the good weather, loads of people turned up for the weekend, some even just for Saturday night. As a result, far more pitches than the 25 or so mentioned on their website were actually being used. I should think it was getting on for double that.
Although the very pleasant owner said it was “as cheap as chips” at £15 a night for 2 adults, caravan and hook up, I wasn’t convinced that it was good value for money when you consider that there was only one washing up sink on site, and in the gents’, only one sit down loo, with 2 urinals of the portaloo variety elsewhere. There were 3 showers in total, 2 of which were in the pot washing cabin; they were very good. But another problem was that if you wanted a shave, or just a wash, there was only one sink for the men and that was in the gents’ loo!
There were 6 hook ups which were adequately spaced. On the other hand, the field in which they were situated was nice and large, providing plenty of space for children (and adults!) to play. The site was handily situated for walks (it’s on the Limestone Way, for example) and there is a good pub at Monyash nearly a mile away serving food as well as drink. (They have quite a good selection of real ales.)
Some reviewers have commented favourably on the lack of rules and regulations, but this can perhaps have its downside too. Despite notices saying that “this is a quiet campsite” there was an incredibly noisy group late on Saturday night. Fortunately, being about 80 yards away, they were almost out of our earshot
It was clear from Sunday lunchtime onwards, when nearly everyone had gone, what a peaceful location this was. I think the main problem was allowing too many people on the site.
In closing, I would like to say a big “thank you” to the owner who put herself out by providing a breakfast for my daughter and her husband at the very early time of 6:30 on Sunday morning so that they could get to Bakewell on time.

We have just returned from a weekend stay at knotlow farm, we are definitely going to return, the showers are lovely and clean with plenty of piping hot water and are free! The toilets are kept topped up with toilet paper, soap etc and are also kept clean, the only downside would be that the men had to wait to use the toilets as there is only 1 mens toilet. We hired a fire basket which was a great idea as we kept nice and warm while sitting outside and we toasted marshmallows on it. There are no pubs in easy walking distance, the nearest took about 25 minutes, so stock up on wine etc. The site has no shop but we managed, and they do offer breakfasts and a drink for about £5 which can be collected at 10 am, we like to get up early and cook our own so we did nt take advantage of this. There are lots of walks and places to visit. The site was quite busy by Saturday morning, but it still had a nice peaceful feel to it, there were lots of families with kids but the kids were all very well behaved, just one family with dogs that seemed to ignore the signs that stated that dogs should be tied up and not let off the lead, but luckily they were not in our field else we would have told them!

Party size 8 (4 adults, 4 children aged 11 - 3 years).
Just returned from a 3 night stay, had a wonderful time. Campsite really clean, owners very accommodating. Firebaskets made the stay especially to keep warm in the rain. Lots of places to go and explore.
Two small criticisms: 1. Could do with a few extra toilets and showers (albeit this would def not put us off revisiting) 2. Cars could drive a little slower through site
Overall though a brill long weekend.
