A lovely site, only downside was the weather, wet and windy bank holiday!
Nice new toilet and shower block, which the showers had just been converted to take 20p for 2 minutes.
The pitches are not flat, some are on quite a slope, which for bigger tents would be an issue if you don't mind rolling out of bed. T
he hire of a fire basket and logs is a really nice idea although we did not take up the offer as the weather was so bad and we decided to stay inside the tent and sit around our gas fire.
I would definitely stay at this site again.

We thought this was a great campsite. It is off the main road and quiet, quite tranquil.
It is well maintained, washing up area is spacious-we had to queue once during busy time, toilets and showers are clean too-loved the floor, I think all campsites should have this type of floor (they are like pation slabs, dry quickly and seem more hygienic).
Toilets were always clean. Shower is 20p for 2 mins and the cubicle is on the small size, however I managed fine with my 9 year old daughter, we just had to be very organised.
The only negative point is there is no kids' playground, however as a lot of previous reviews have mentioned this, people can bring their own games to play, whilst we were there people brought stuff to play crickets and rounders which was great and the site we pitched was Willow site and people played in the middle of the field as was empty.
Also it would be useful for each site to have water point, there is not one in Willow site.
The owners were always friendly and accommodating. You can order homemade pizzas and breakfast for reasonable price. Fire baskets are available for hire for £5, kindling and logs are £3 each/bag sold on site.
Lots of pubs nearby, some approx 1 mile walking distance from the farm. We went to the Royal Oak pub (approx 3 miles, in Hurdlow) to have Sunday lunch and the meals were superb, the pub was voted the best traditional pub last year (2010) and we certainly were not disappointed.
Tesco express (with petrol station) and Sainsburys local are in Buxton approx. 7 miles from the campsite.
We would definitely return to this site and would recommend to our friends.

We went as a group of 4 adults 2 children. we thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. nice field, very undulating in chestnut field but we found a flat area.
Quiet friendly people. toilet blocks where new and very nice. Showers cost 20p for 2 mins. Open fires welcome but must rent fire pit or bring your own. The owners will sell logs and kindling £3 per bag. I used this often, nice place 20 mins from ahsbourne about 5 from buxton
You can also get breakfast from the house as it is a b&b order the night before £5 each.

Stayed for a two night weekend break at Knotlow Farm and had a great stay.
The site is spread over 5 fields, one of which contains some Yurts and the EHU's. As other reviewers have stated it appears that the owners are keeping certain areas for families and others child free.
We were directed to pitch on either of the two fields by the main driveway. The fields are quite sloping in parts, but there are flatter areas at the top and bottom of the slopes. The grass is well mown and there were are powered lights along the driveway to the facilities block. We pitched at the top of the hill which did get quite breezy but the views were great.
The toilet block was about 300 yards away for us. The facilities are excellent and kept clean. There are 4 washing up areas, hot water was free and plentiful. The showers are token operated which last for 5 minutes. Tokens are given out on arrival by the owners.
The Limestone Way passes through the site and there are instructions provided in a helpful information sheet with directions to local pubs. The site also hires out fire baskets for £5 a night. They also take orders for Pizzas and breakfasts at the farmhouse.
We found the site very quiet and relaxed. There was very little traffic noise, there are planes flying in and out of Manchester, but it didn't bother us at all and is the same for any campsite in the Buxton area.
Ideal base for Buxton (5 miles) or Bakewell (8 miles). All for £7 per person per night. Great value and we will definitely return.

The sign at the entrance to the farm track/road definitely helped ( I knew we were near and hated the thought of driving round and round ( as you do when things are not well sign posted)
The place was very organised, tidy, recycling bins, sign posts, clean toilet / shower / washing up block plus sockets for hair dryers and leaflets with local information. (Just a bit of a trek at 2am if you are in the top field)
Helpful at farmhouse giving change - (keep hold of your 20ps - as you need them for a 2 minute shower)
We were in tents - ground smooth and you didn't need a mallet for the pegs! No fear of puddles as slight inclines in the fields.
Pretty village nearby, pubs within walking distance. Farm quiet, enough room for children to run around. Dogs kept on leads. Good place for access to various attractions around Derbyshire.
Would I stop there again? Yes

Arrived here on Saturday afternoon after booking on the Thursday evening. Campsite was easy to find (even with a wonky Sat Nav) and was well sign posted from the main road.
Lovely warm welcome on arrival. We got given a useful information sheet which listed local attraction and pubs, as well as having a map of the site. Also received shower tokens (1 per person/per night).
We were surprised how quiet the site was, although the threat of bad weather probably put people off. It seemed they had grouped families into separate fields, although this could have been coincidence. The fields are well kept with short grass. You should be able to find something flat without too much effort.
Excellent showering/toilet/washing facilities. No queue for the showers on the Sunday morning and the 5 minutes that the token allowed was more than enough time.
The farm also sells pizza's in the evening and an 'All day breakfast bap' for the morning, although you have to give them advanced warning.
Lovely camp-site, will definitely use again in the future.

First time camping, was just with my 3 yr old daughter. Loved it, went Saturday to Monday, (2nights), had plenty of room, nice grassy pitches, and just had to be careful to pick a pitch not on a slope, but was a lovely clean site. The facilities block was ideal, plenty of hot water for pots, showers etc. Lovely country views, and 2 nice pubs that I found about a mile away. Only down, was there was no park etc for kids, but we made our own entertainment in the field. A little shop would have been nice too, but those are just small point. And at £8 per adult, (just me), made it very good value too. Will definitely return

An absolutely excellent site. The toilet, shower and pot-washing facilities are immaculate. The grass is kept nicely kept and the warm welcome on arrival was great.
We had a fire most nights which was great.
Only slight downside is the amount of air-traffic passing overhead, presumably landing at some local airfield, although not much of a distraction.
Site is very central to all the main Peak District towns and so great from that point of view.
We would definitely use this site again.

Just got back from a crackin' three night camping trip at Knotlow Farm!
We arrived at midday on Friday so had virtually the pick of the site. As a rule the site is undulating but we managed to get a flat pitch.
On arrival we checked-in at the farmhouse and were greeted with a walm welcome, a very informative info sheet, and shower tokens (one per person/per night).
The shower/toilet block was very clean. The five minutes alloted for your shower with the tokens is plenty (although I admit I was sceptical at first). Saturday morning's shower was warm despite it being a busy weekend and knocking on for 10-10. 30am, and today's (Monday) was hot! Presumably as it was less busy on the site today.
The bins, of which there were plenty, all got emptied once per day during our stay.
Within 1. 5 miles there are three pubs (in various directions) but we only tried two (The Bulls Head & The Bull I'th Torn). Directions to the pubs are on the info sheet given to you on arrival. Our favourite was the Bulls Head, which is probably the nearest (but there isn't much in it).
There are five camping fields in all and it seems that the owners try to keep families/kids together as my partner and I didn't see any children in our field.
The Limestone Way runs right through the site so it's ideal if you're backpacking across it's length. This weekend was pretty much a lazy one for us and we only ventured to Bakewell for a mooch, other than that we either lazed on the campsite or visited the local hostelries. If that sounds like your kind of weekend then I whole heartedly recommend Knotlow Farm!

We've just returned from a long weekend away at Knotlow Farm - perfect campsite!
Set in picturesque countryside, nice and quiet site (with no traffic noise!). A 20 minute walk to a lovely local pub - the Bulls Head in Monyash (dogs and children welcome). Lots of walks to do from the site and various towns to visit, just a cycle/short drive away.
Facilities excellent! Shower/toilet block appears to be quite new and was kept very clean. Bonus points for the eco friendly water system. The hot power showers are on a token system (free tokens given at check in) and each token gives 5 minutes - plenty of time! The washing up facilities are in the same block, again very clean and well laid out.
We took our dog with us. Well behaved dogs welcome (at no extra cost :) ).
When we arrived we were given the choice of two fields to pitch in and were able to choose wherever we wanted to pitch (we prefer this traditional style to being given set pitches, all measured out) and families with younger children seemed to be allocated to specific fields and adults/older groups allocated to other fields.
Everyone we spoke to on the site really enjoyed their stay and at £7 per head its very good value!
Well done Knotlow Farm!
