I found the site easily after emailing ahead to confirm arrival - pleased to note they have sockets in toilet block for my dryer!
On the Limestone Way walk - good camping ground if slightly sloping in places and boggy after rainfall around barn area.
Very good shower block but only two showers and a separate family shower, very clean and hot water (free). Potwash good and plenty of washing up liquid & soft tissue paper in the loos!
Very quiet, peaceful stay. Left early after rainfall scuppered my walking plans but will go again! A route/walking directions to local pub abit further than promised so stayed with tent, campfire rent £5. So remember to take disposable BBQ.
Lovely staff and I thank them for the help offered in light of my medical condition.

Visited this camping site from the 27 to 31 of July. It is a really tranquil site with great amenities. The toilet and shower facilities are very good with a separate washing up room as well as chemical toilet disposal room. This site is on a working farm and very rural so there are no parks or playgrounds ( so entertainment is DIY). I have been told it can get very busy especially on weekends, we were fortunate to have only two other campers on site maybe the the weather may had an affect on this as there were some extremely heavy downpours on a couple of days.
I have read on other reviews that the charges were a little steep, personally I thought that £7 per person per night was not that bad, however with 2 adults and 2 children staying for 5 nights works out at £120, that's a lot less than a great many self catering caravans and chalets.
This a true campers site, pretty, simple, functional, no frills and quiet.
The location is beautiful the people warm and friendly, and perfectly situated to get to all the sights and walks of the Derbyshire Peak District and more. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and certainly will return again soon.

We decided to go camping last minute and rang to see if they had any pitches. 'No problem' was the reply. Infact she rang back to confirm and was extremely friendly over the phone. When we arrived the owner was very helpful and welcoming. We were 2 adults and 2 children aged 1 and 3 years and the site was just perfect for us. It was not crowded at all which meant plenty of room for running and chasing about with the kids.(no playground, but not a problem for us) The fire had to be in a burner which was great for kids safety, but you did have to rent the burner at £5.00 per night. Supermarket was within a 5 minute drive away which was great for upping supplies. The pitch we had was flat and the toilets were pristine-even supplied soft toilet tissue for the more discerning camper! The site was wonderfully quiet and can't wait to go again weather and children permitting. Basic but perfect.Matlock just a few minutes drive away and well worth a visit.

We stayed at this campsite for two nights Saturday to Monday.
Overall we were very pleased with the campsite.
The shower black was very clean and powerful.
It was a family shower block which is really helpful for a family with young children.
Toilets also, very clean.
The owners very kind and helpful.
One minor point, although during peak season I would think the main field (pictured) would get a little busy as the ground is not all flat just the back and middle bit, which isnt that much given the size of the field.
We would certainly visit this site again.

Great site - would heartily recommend.
From booking to leaving an enjoyable experience - Margaret was lovely to deal with, very laid back and accommodating (She also makes a very good full English bap in the morning for £4 with a hot drink).
The site is a working farm with livery stables making it a vibrant place to visit.
Facilities were exceptionally clean and efficient with the best showers I have ever come across on a site. The only downside is that there aren't that many showers and I had to wait a few minutes. Not a problem waiting when the scenery is so wonderful.
There is no playground for the kids but just dug near to the camping field is a small pond which captivated them. It was full of frogs and tadpoles which kept them amused for hours. The site is also split up by a copse of trees which could also provide hours of fun.
The camping fields are very well looked after and spacious - we were in a party of 12 tents with over 20 kids so we took over half of one of them and were allowed to pitch wherever we wanted with no prissy marked out pitches. There was no extra charge for a central gazebo either.
We very much enjoyed our visit to Knotlow Farm and would go back any day. The main reason we chose it originally is that we do not like over-organised, regimented sites where there are loads of rules for the sake of rules. We always like to stay on sites which allow fires but here they go one step further and hire out fire baskets so for £5 per day we took advantage and had big log fires on the 2 nights we stayed. (They also sell wood and kindling and I think they hire out small kettle barbecues)
If there is a downside to this site it would be cost. At £7 per adult and £5 per child the charges can add up. As our child is only 4 there was no charge for her but some friends have 2 older girls and the price for 2 adults and 2 children was £48 for 2 nights which does seem expensive for such a rustic site. It was easier for us to swallow as we only paid £28. All in all though we all paid it and were only slightly miffed. That would be the only complaint though.
So, in summary - if you want a laid back site where there is simply a couple of fields that you can camp in, want to have an open fire and not be burdened by too many silly rules then Knotlow Farm is for you.

Stayed for two nights (thur & fri) and had two very different nights. First night we were the only ones there, which was great!
2nd night, loads of people turned up. The field we camped in is the one you can see in the picture. Which looks flat, but it isn't! only half the field is flat so everyone crams in on the flat part.
The facilities are ok, but not when your paying £7 pppn! You can have fires which is great and you can hire fire baskets from them, and also buy wood (I think)
The owners are very friendly but it would have been nice to have been told that there's more than one field to camp in - if I had of know this I would probably have chosen the other field.
Not a bad campsite, just a little pricey and can get busy.

We wanted to go camping last minute for the weekend, and this was the only campsite that wasn't full up. I wasn't sure what it would be like but it turned out to be a real find! It is located in the middle of lovely rolling countryside, and is just a nice little farm with a couple of fields for camping. The location was really good to either go off on walks in several directions, or you can nip off to either bakewell or buxton. The people who ran it were really nice and helpful and nice to chat with. They do really nice breakfast barmcakes and coffee in the morning, well worth it! You can also hire a barbecue and buy charcoal which was really good. We would go back to this campsite if we were to go camping in this area.

A lovely location and views but with limited facilities. Only one washing up sink and only one male toilet! A very funny sight to see men queueing. Us women were fine as we had 3 toilets. A rather hilly big field and a smaller flattish one. Generally clean and pleasant and an ideal site if you are happy to shower in the afternoon (after busy times) and are self sufficient.
A nice pub that is a mile away and Buxton only 10 mins in the car.
Would recommend to friends.

We have just arrived home from Knotlow Farm today and thoroughly enjoyed the whole time.
Margaret was very helpful and answered any questions with courtesy when asked.
The ground was in very good condition and we pitched on a clean fresh field.
The facilities are rather basic but we feel this is what camping has always been about.
The walk to the Duke of York pub was very pleasant but you do have to enjoy walking.
However, it is downhill on the way back.
The Duke of York is a small and friendly pub that does offer meals, although we didn't eat, it looked very tempting.
We highly recommend Knotlow Farm. It is a working Farm. For those who live in the city as we do, it is a delight to stay in such a warm and friendly rural place. The other campers were friendly.

This site is easy to find and in a great location for visiting the national park. Its a basic, no frills site and being a working farm it wasn't clear exactly where we could pitch, apart from one field housing several caravans and a tent. After talking with the owner, Margaret, we opted to camp next to the occupied field where a dry-stone wall offered some shelter. The other options included a large grassed area by the farm track, going up to the Limestone Way but this was quite exposed (particularly in February) and the only section offering some kind of shelter by a copse of new trees was on quite a slope. It was also busy with walkers coming and going.
The site only has one toilet block and one shower so is hardly suitable for seasonal camping.
Although not far from the main Ashbourne to Buxton road, there was only a slight bit of traffic noise. More evident was the flight path which we were directly under, with fairly frequent planes flying over, presumably to and from Manchester.
A necessity for us is a fire when camping out of season and this site is the exception to the rule in the Peak area in that it allows camp-fires, however, you are expected to hire one of their raised burners which at £5.00 per day on top of the £7.00 per person camping fee makes the overall costs just a little overpriced for such a basic site with few facilities. I had checked with the owner prior to our arrival to ensure that we could bring and burn our own wood, which we were told we could but we hadn't been told anything about a hire fee for the burners.
We didn't get to see Flagg properly apart from driving through it but we did enjoy time in nearby Edale and of course, Kinder Scout. It is also near to Arbor Low which we visited on the way home and also Bakewell. Both highly recommended.
On the whole, I like this site but mostly for its location. I would definitely go again but it needs to cater better to campers needs if it is to be taken seriously and used accordingly.
