Great campsite, we have been many times, both as family of 4 and as a group of friends. Easy to find, always a lovely warm welcome.
The fields aren't that flat so I would advise turning up late afternoon to pick a good spot, especially if you have a larger tent. Farm house offers take away pizzas and breakfasts, will sell you firewood and hire fire basket if needed.
It can get quite windy as it's a bit exposed.
If you need supplies you will need to drive, either to Buxton for a tesco express or to Ashbourne where there is a sainsburys. Great for tissington trail or monsul trail.
Toilet, shower block is excellent. Showers aren't free, theyre 20p and I would recommend 40-60p per shower. Don't mind paying though when I see how well everything is maintained. Freezer for your ice blocks, places to plug in hair dryers etc. Hot drinks machine.
Lovely walk out of the top corner of the chestnut field to moneyash where there is a lovely pub serving decent food and has fantastic play area for kids. Walk takes 20 mins or so (but longer on way back after a couple of beers!)
Would thoroughly recommend

We have just returned from a lovely weekend at Knotlow. This is a very nice, well run site, great facilities and great location. Please note though, that this site is clearly intended for quite campers, not those who want to play music etc after 11pm and upset everyone else. The owners, refreshingly, as we witnessed, are not afraid to deal with problems and ask people to leave.
Read / ask before you book ! It clearly states that if you want to be noisy after 11, this is not the site for you.
We will definitely return.

We've just had a lovely weekend at Knotlow. The site is beautifully kept and the facilities are of a very high standard. The washing up area is very good with hot water every time I was there. The shower/toilet facilities were good and kept clean. There was a good mix of people - families and older couple (like us!)- and types of camping. The staff were very friendly and helpful when an incredible thunder storm knocked off the power. I can fully recommend Knotlow farm.

What a great little find! We booked this at short notice for bank holiday weekend and I am so glad we did. The site is in a lovely location a 15-20 minute walk down a lovely bridleway to the lovely village of Monyash which has a lovely pub serving good food and also a café next door. It was ideally placed for walking in the lovely countryside we even managed to walk to Buxton and back which took about 2 hours each way but was a lovely walk.
The site itself was delightful the owners were lovely and the tents were well spaced out so you had privacy BBQs were allowed so long as they were raised so as not to damage the grass and there were fire pits to hire. The facilities were clean and there was a freezer for ice blocks. All in all a great little find I will definitely be back.

We've just come back after long weekend at this campsite. It nice place with countryside views. It's far from main road, very safe. Pond with tadpoles kept my son occupied for hours ;) Toilets are spotless, owners very friendly. No mud so you don't really need wellies. Possibly quiet site but not over Bank Holiday weekend, a lot of families with kids. It was busy so it was hard to find levelled pitch. I found fire pits quite expensive £5 per night, some campsites hire them for free and in my opinion showers should be included in price. Apart from that it's a nice campsite.

This is a wonderful site. Sadly we arrived in the worst weather ever. We were the first to go on the site for new season but unfortunately we got stuck on the field and had to have a tractor to put us on our pitch. After saying this nothing was too much trouble for site owners. This site has the most helpful owners you could wish to meet. The toilets and shower blocks are immaculate and were always clean during our weeks stay. Would a pay a return visit. Certainly.

Visited here on the second weekend in September for one night. Large campsite in the middle of the country side! Plenty of options to pitch up. We chose the field that you drive through as it seemed the quieter option. It is a bit further to the toilet block. Toilets and showers spotless clean! Very friendly greeting. Fire pits a bit expensive £12 for pit and wood! Options to order some pizza/breakfast from the farm house. A few yurts on site also.

Had to write a review after having another great bank holiday at Knotlow farm. We have stayed here 4 times now and I really do like it for a quiet family break. This year was much quieter than last year so it was better, bad weather was forecast for monday so lots of people packed up sunday and went home. The facilities are good, great showers, (bit of a queue as it is quite a large site!) but we went at night instead and used the family room for me, hubby and our two kids which is great, got baby change station in there too. Fire pits are brill but book it when you book your tent as they get go up very fast!
If I had to pick a fault with it I would say that the family field 'chestnut' is way too sloping and I noticed lots of people preferred the top field 'willow' which I think is only open for busy periods, a much nicer flatter field BUT this is a MASSIVE trek to the toilets then! it could REALLY do with a portaloo or two as I heard many people saying they just wee'd in the bushes etc! ew! and for £24 a night (7 and adult £5 a child) it is quite expensive price without hookup! we just stayed at the isle of wight at £13 a night for 2 adluts 2 kids a dog and hookup! also the showers are 20P which runs out very fast think it lasts 2 minutes so take plenty of 20ps ladies! I think when you are paying £24 a night the showers should be free!
First time we have ordered one of their pizza this year though and they were lovely! very nice.
We like knotlow because it is quiet and away from any busy roads and its in the middle of some great walks. We had lovely days out at lathkill dale, monsal head, cheedale, curbar edge etc
Would book again for sure!

This is one of the better sites we have visited in over 30 years camping, having been here once before, two years ago. The toilet block and washrooms were superb, using an eco-system to recycle the water. Constant hot water too.
There are several camping fields on this working farm, each field named after a type of tree: we stayed in Willow field, one of the two Family fields, with our youngest grandson, aged 5, plus my wife's brother and his two sons, aged 10 and 8, who we had arranged to meet there.
The location and views are very good, with several paths and bridleways to other villages and hamlets. Buxton, a spa town is only a few miles drive and well worth a visit.
Last time we were here we had the most amazing sunsets on three consecutive nights! This time we experienced a freak late summer storm that resulted in two large frame tents being dumped in a skip! The elevated and exposed situation of this site probably didn't help. However, we have no complaints whatsoever and will happily recommend Knotlow Farm for it's facilities, locality and pleasant proprietors.

We only stayed for one night, but were very pleased with the whole site. It is actually based in different fields, one seems to be for adults only while the remaining ones are for families. One has the Yurts and a wigwam which looked really good. The sites are on slopes so if you are in a tent you tend to be along the perimeter which is fine as they do help shelter you from the weather a bit.
The shower and toilet blocks are absolutely spot on, they are clean, warm, plenty of hot water. The showers take 20p for around 2 minutes. Plenty of sinks for washing dishes as well as a hot drink vending machine.
This site is great for kids, lots of space to run around. The weather was pretty grim while we were there but you do get to see what is rolling in as the views are stunning from the top fields.
I would definitely recommend this site.
