This farm based site is situated in a village called Flagg, between Bakewell and Buxton.
It is spread over four fields, many of which are sloping in places. Chestnut field at the top end of the site, is much flatter than the rest of the site. On the other fields, you will need to look harder for flat ground, especially if you are in large family tent. Smaller units shouldn't have a problem.
For glampers there are 4 yurts, and in the same field, there are a few EHU pitches. Close to this field and near the toilets is a wildlife pond.
All the facilities are in one superb central barn:
Amazing hot, clean showers (20p for 2 mins) (4 male, 4 female)
Rain water flushing toilets (4 male plus urinals, 5 female)
Wash basins with soap and hand dryer (no hair dryer)
Washing up sinks with free washing up liquid
Family shower room with toilet and baby change
Tourist leaflets, maps and a hot and cold drinks machine.
From the main farmhouse, you can buy basic provisions and order hot food. Fire pits can be hired, £5 per night.
Lovely views and great walks from the site. We ambled over the fields to the pub at Monyash which does food and had an excellent beer garden backing on to children's play area/park. (No playground on campsite)
We stayed over the bank holiday weekend and although the site was full it didn't feel too crowded or noisy. We didn't have to queue for loos or showers. On Monday morning, most people left and the site felt enormous!
Plenty to do in the area, good location. We would recommend this site to couples/families, who are happy to make their own entertainment and like being outdoors!

A great, rambling site nestling in the rolling hills between Flagg and Monyash. It's well away from any A roads and as such is nice and quiet (though you may hear a few aircraft up above (Manchester airport flight-path, maybe?).
We camped in the large 'Chestnut' field - undulates a little but kids can easily find a 'flat bit' for playing on. The owners/staff at reception are very helpful and the shop is stocked with matches, lighters, disposable bbqs and the like.
There are also firepits available for hire at £5, though I'd say the £4. 50 charged for a small bag of logs is a wee bit overpriced, and 20p for a 2 minute shower is a bit cynical in this day and age, surely?
Generally though pricing is very good - £8 per adult p/n and £5 per child (rather than priced per tent size).
The 'no noise' policy (11pm-7am) is mercifully strictly enforced! An horrendous group were evicted during our stay, having being up past midnight with loud music and drunken singing. They purposefully left piles of glass, plastic and dirty nappies behind them. We all cleaned up after them. 1-0 to the Good People.
Monyash, a mile or so's walk from the site is a lovely little village, with an awesome pint of Black Sheep at the Bull's Head (they also have an extensive kiddie's play area).
Be sure to have a look at Arbor Low stone circle a couple of miles south of Monyash too. Very impressive.
Would definitely return.

Three lovely nights on this well run site. Excellent facilities which were clean and well maintained.
Very quiet during the week, lots of space, no queues - the only thing that changed on the Friday was the number of units; still lots of space, quiet, no queues.
You need to search to find a level pitch in most of the fields, but this did mean there was lots of space around.
Stunning views, walked from the site to Lathkill Dale so I didn't drive again until I left.
Excellent value with price based on number of people - it was nice not to be paying for more than just myself

Very clean site with good, clean facilities. Hot/cold drink vending machine! Pizza's baked on site (tasty too!). Breakfast butties can also be ordered to pick up!
We've never known such luxury.
The fire baskets are great if you want to toast mashmallows. But you have to pay £5 each night you want one! and buy somme wood to burn too.
Everything went quiet before 11 pm. All in all a good site and a great night's sleep.

This is a lovely campsite, in a great location, with pretty views across the hills from the top field. We stayed here for a few nights, mid-week, in a tent, and generally enjoyed a peaceful stay. I say generally, because we normally stay on adult-only campsites, but figured we'd be ok mid-week, and during the school term. Unfortunately, quite a few children had been taken out of school, and were pretty noisy and/or intrusive (i. E. Constant shrieking while chasing around, cycling up to strangers' tents and peering in, etc. Parents just seemed to let them roam free, but many were completely out of sight of their parents and up to mischief).
Annoying kids aside, I would stay here again. The bathrooms were clean, with plenty of toilets, and the area was good for walks. The owner was pleasant and helpful.

We visited on the spur of the moment, having been given a tip locally, and not only managed to get on but had hook-up too! Great service.
We turned up in heavy rain that stopped as soon as we had checked-in and put the trailer tent up on an excellent pitch in the field with the yurts in.
Knotlow turned out to be a real hit. The facilities are modern and spotless- more like what you'd expect on mainland Europe than in most of the UK sites we have been to. Water and hook-up were handy to the pitch and the surrounding area has loads to offer.
We only live an hour away from this site and will definitely go again- it's a great, local find! There's no hint of 'caravan apartheid' which is so prevalent in The Lakes.
Phone signals- Vodafone is very weak but EE seemed fine. No WWW but that's still a luxury as far as we are concerned.
Highly recommended. Our rig is a Sunncamp 400SE.

We have just returned from a weekend stay at Knotlow Farm and it was our first visit. We will definitely return. It is a lovely well kept site in a beautiful place. It was quiet and peaceful and there was plenty of room. We stayed in a tent without electric hook up and had a choice of two fields. One was quite sloping but the one we chose was level. The toilet and shower block were kept clean, as was the pot wash area. Take some 20ps as showers were 20p for 2 minutes. Washing up liquid for pots was provided. There is no hair dryer but there is a plug socket and mirror to use if you take your own. One thing I would say is that four showers were probably not enough as each time I went there was a queue. Also another toilet block would be handy as it was quite a walk from where we were pitched. Having said that, it didn't spoil our enjoyment. You can pre order breakfasts and pizzas but we didn't so I can't comment. Buxton is quite near and we enjoyed our visit there, but mostly we just sat outside our tent and enjoyed the views and sounds of the countryside. One thing I would say is don't forget your torch as the path to the toilets isn't lit at night. Staff were polite and helpful. Well worth a visit if you want a quiet break and one of the less expensive sites we have stayed at.

We spent four nights at this great site and will definitely be back. Plenty of space in several fields around the farm, so even when it got 'busy' at the weekend, we didn't feel crowded. We only go for sites that are dog- and campfire-friendly and this one gets a gold star for letting us bring our own fire pit and wood supply.
The facilities (toilet/shower/pot wash) were well designed and kept clean. Plenty of recycling and refuse bins. Good signage throughout. And, the Sunday evening fish and chip van was very welcome!

Well kept site with plenty of room on 4 different fields. There are a few hook ups available. Toilets and showers were clean however there were no hooks or shelves to support clothes, towels, toiletries and you need to feed a meter with 20p coins (40p gets you a decent shower). Covered washing up area and small freezer for cool blocks. There is a nice footpath walk (about 15 mins) to Monyash which has a good pub called the Bulls Head with decent and reasonably priced food and drink.

Just got back from a lovely weekend. The booking process was really easy and even when we changed our unit from a tent to caravan there was no problem changing it over. The pitches on the hook up field were massive loads of space for a caravan and awning and still didn't feel on top of our neighbours. The toilets and showers were close by for us but could imagine its a bit of a trek if your staying in one of the fields with no electric. Didn't use the pot wash but it looked very clean and plenty of space. The showers are 20p for 2 mins which was just enough time for a quick shower I would recommend taking a couple of 20p's with you, they were nice and clean with a separate space to get dry and hang your clothes, did get busy at peak times. We used the site as a base to see Buxton and Bakewell and was in a great position for this. There was a EE signal for us to use the phone but no internet which our 9 year old wasn't happy about but it was nice to have a break from it. She loved the pond and the tadpoles. Would we go back. Yes we would. Lovely campsite
