Spent Sat/Sun night here over the Bank Holiday with my wife, and another couple in a separate tent. Our friends booked approx 1 week beforehand, then added us at a later date, neither of which were a problem, and no deposit was required.

Site was easy to find, and on arrival, signs direct you through the site to the reception/B&B. All very pleasant and easy, paid in cash, and as we were two adult couples, were advised on the best option re pitching areas. A point which was very much appreciated!

The two adjoining fields we were directed to were, in all honesty, rather hilly, and at first glance, even a little daunting for us newbies, with large tents, but on closer inspection, there was suitably flattish ground still available, despite there already being a healthy splattering of tents already arrived.

We pitched either side of the main concrete roadway through the site, but were still pretty much 'next to each other', and were more than content where we were. We were at the base of a steep bank, and those at the top churned up a track with their tyres, and some had to have more than one attempt, to get up there, but despite the rain, there were no signs of flooding/puddles etc.

The amenities block were fairly large, and seemed quite warm too. Upon entering, there were 4 large washing up sinks, with plenty of work top/draining area, a drinks machine (Hot & cold), a couple of sockets and mirrors, for the ladies. Immediately off this area were the Gents, Ladies, and a family shower room.

The gents. 3 urinals, 3 loo cubicles, 3 sinks, with mirrors and shaving sockets, and four showers. The showers were 20p for 2 mins, with a hanging shelf, a couple of hooks on the door, and a shower curtain between the actual shower and the 'dressing area. All sloped towards a gulley, so the dressing area didn't get flooded. You get what you are given with the showers, as in there is no control over flow/temperature/direction etc, as it is a fixed shower head, but I must say, it was all nigh on perfect, on all counts.

The whole block is sat on what I presume is Derbyshire stone (?) slabs, and given that the place was busy (There were two large 'family fields' as well as ours), and the weather was very wet (Well, it was Bank Holiday!), I'd say the cleaners did a bloody sterling service.

On the Sunday evening, we had a wander into the family fields, for a nosy, and it has to be said, they were pretty much churned up by this stage! Very muddy where the vehicles had driven, and bare where folk had spent the weekend sat/walked in the same areas, but it would take a better man than me to find a way to avoid this, given the excessive rain on the Saturday and into the Sunday morning!

Apparently, you can pre-order breakfast baps, and evening pizza from the farmhouse, but didn't give it a go, so cannot pass comment. There is also one of those countryside path things which run through the site. We certainly didn't give that a go, so again, cannot comment!

A relaxing trip into Bakewell on the Sunday took no more than 20mins to get there and park up. Taking into account that Bakewell and Bank Holiday equals V Busy, I'd say that equates to 'quite near by'!

All in all, we had a wonderful weekend, on a wonderful site, with near perfect amenities, in lousy weather (To be fair, Sunday in Bakewell was rather nice/sunny)

Didn't noticeably see any staff after the reception, as such, but we didn't have need to seek them out, so being left alone suits me fine!

I'm struggling to find anything to find to mark the site down. So I won't!

Oh. Of course I would return! Very Nice!

I stayed at this site with my partner mid August. We booked just 3 days in advance and there was no problem - they did not even insist on a deposit.

The site is located in a very peaceful area about 1 mile from the main road, however there are many footpaths that lead to the surrounding pubs. It was a lovely walk down paths to the local pub - we went to The Bull, but there was at least another 2 pubs in easy walking distance. The food and atmosphere in the pub was great. Certainly recommend!

The campsite was brilliant. Upon arrival we were told we could pitch anywhere, however as they could see that we did not have any children we were told of an area where families tend not to go. The pitch was brilliant. Grass was cut nice and short and well drained. We hired a fire basket for the night, which was great. The site is quiet, in fact the nosiest thing is the moo sound from the cows in the nearby field!

Finally, the toilet/shower blocks were immaculate! Regularly cleaned - don't forget the 20p coins for the shower. 20p is about 2 minutes. 40p was ample for me as a bloke!

I cant say much more, it was a fantastic weekend. I will certainly be returning!

We stayed at Knotlow Farm for one night in August 2012. 2 dogs. No children. It was a nice weekend but thankfully the site wasn't too busy - our nearest campers were about 6 meters away. Unfortunately they had no fire baskets left though.

Toilet/Shower facilities were good. Clean. Pot washing area useful. Freezer for ice packs. We were only 2 minutes away from a drinking water tap, and I don't think other fields were any further from their own.

We ordered breakfast baps for the morning, I was a bit shocked that they were £5 each but to be fair they were pretty huge and we got a carton of orange.

Some lovely walks nearby. 3 pubs within 15 minutes walk. We went to the Bulls Head in Monyash. Although it had a good beer garden and was dog friendly for our 2, we waited over an hour for a sandwich and the waitress was shocking. 'It'll be here where its here' was her response to our complaint. (I appreciate this is nothing to do with the campsite, this is just for information!)

Would definitely return.

Our family (including 2 boys of 6 and 3) stayed at this site, along with my sister and her husband in their tent between 16 and 19 August 2012. We loved it. We arrived on a Thursday and so had the advantage of getting two pitches at the edge of the field (some of the central pitches were on slopes). The facilities are all in a converted farm barn and were very good, clean and spacious. The washing up sinks are indoors, which is a huge bonus at night and when the weather is inclement. There is a fridge for ice blocks, although they could definitely do with a much bigger one. My sister and her husband chose this site due to being able to have a firepit, which made for very social evenings. There were plenty of children and sufficient space for them all to run around, without getting in people's way. The site is well positioned for a walk to the local pub and playground, which was perfect with the children. Don't miss the local discount bookshop - its really well stocked. We would definitely recommend this site and will return ourselves.

Booked this about a month in advance of our trip, based on the reviews on here. No deposit was requested, which I think is quite unusual. The site was easy to find and on arrival, signs directed us to the farm house. All very 'free and easy'. Paid up and told we could go anywhere we wanted, so had a quick walk around and decided where we wanted to go.

There were a few other tents there upon our arrival, and we chose a site near the road, at the top of the field. Come the sunday, everyone else left (weekend before school hols started) and we were the only tent in the field for some days. The toilets, washing up area and showers were all very good, and really clean.

Overall I think in busy times, you may find it difficult to find a flat area as the largest field does have a large dip in the middle. Also, having to cross the field, could cause some problems if wet. We had quite a bit of rain while there and were pleased that we had gone by the main track up the field.

We did not see the owners at all during out weeks stay, and when busy, feel you could get in unnoticed! Saying that, there was breakfast baps, pizzas, fire baskets with logs etc available if needed all at an extra cost.

The site is central for many places, with good access and the only noise is from the farm animals! Would we use again? Yes, if going to the area, but would avoid busy times (so could get a flat site!)

We visited here for the second time, almost 3 years after we first visited and weren't disappointed. Booking was not a problem-telephoned a couple of weeks before hand, friendly and polite owner. On arrival, signs directed us to the main farm house to book in, very efficient.

The price was £7 per adult per night, and we weren't asked about size of tent - we have a 5 person tent for all our equipment. We were given a map of the campsite, with site rules, as well as outlining where all the areas to pitch were, toilets etc.

We were told to pitch where we liked in 1 of 2 areas (named maple and lime sites), although there are a further 2 fields for tents behind the farm (chestnut and willow sites). I'm not sure, but these may have been reserved for families, although there were families on the areas we were directed too as well.

There are some flat areas, but there are some slight slopes. You are able to park next to your tent. We pitched at the top of the maple field, which can be a bit breezy. There is a further field for caravans and electric hook ups, with 3 or 4 yurts also occupying his area, which can be booked.

Given we visited at a weekend during the school holidays, it was not crowded at all. However, this may have been because you do have provide your own entertainment for the children, there are no play areas. There were plenty of children playing ball games however.

The toilets have been upgraded from when we first visited, and were housed in a purpose built area. This was kept very clean, with plenty of toilets and showers in both male and female areas. We didn't use the showers, so are unsure how long they last for, but they were clean.

There was also a pot washing area housed here, with plenty of free hot water. This area also had a coffee/hot drinks machine (coin operated), as well as a cold drinks can dispenser. From where we pitched, this was quite a distance to walk for the toilet in the middle of the night, so bring a torch!

This is not a criticism, as we could have pitched closer. There are recycling facilities and fire extinguishers on each field, as well as drinking water taps.

Many of our fellow campers had hired the portable BBQs from the farm - £5 with £3 for a bag of logs or kindling. You are also able to buy a pizza for dinner from the farmhouse for £6 and a breakfast bap, (ordered before 6pm the night before), with 2 rashers bacon, 2 sausages, 1 egg, fruit juice or coffee for £5. We didn't buy either of these, but we did see plenty of people having the pizzas.

There is a no noise rule after 11pm, but this was not a problem while we were there, as it was fairly quiet as dusk fell.

This campsite is situated on the Limestone way, and Lathkill Dale is a short walk away too. The Tissington trail is not far.

We will return to this campsite.

As per the previous review. I booked early on the day and travelled up. The site was easy to find and kept beautifully manicured.

The shower/toilet block were immaculate and the surrounding countryside is gorgeous, if you want a break and back to a quiet peacefully location. Then I can recommend it. But don't tell too many people,

I shall certainly return and might try one of the Yurts for a change, there is plenty of room to choose your pitch hovered its not a flat site in all places.

The bins were clean and the whole place was a pleasure to visit, 5 stars from me

Lovely spacious campsite although finding a flat area can be a bit of a trial. The owners are friendly, helpful and welcoming.

If you don't wish to cook on site you can order a breakfast bap at the farmhouse the night before, and you can order pizza for the evening. Otherwise breakfast is available at the local tearoom which is quite expensive and poorly presented with dirty toilets which is a shame because appearances would suggest otherwise.

Evening meals at the pub in Monyash looked superb although we didn't actually try one. The ale was excellent

Back to the campsite. The shower, toilets and washing up facilities are excellent. Housed in a barn there are two double power points to plug in hairdryers, phone chargers etc (but if there's a group of DoE type girls you may have to fight for one!)

The showers are on a timer and now work on 20p pieces and 10p lasts a minute, previously you were given a token when you booked in that lasted 5 minutes. It's a bit of a sneaky way of increasing the price really as they haven't reduced the camping price to recompense the 50p token! Once they're going they're a good temperature but you have to decide in advance how long you'll need, otherwise every time you add another 20p you have a cold wait during the 10 second lead-in time.

Toilets use watersaving technology which seemed great most of the time, just one occasion when there wasn't enough available to flush. This might be worse in a long hot summer (some hope of that!)

There is plenty of space around this campsite and despite its fairly remote positioning it was well signposted and easy enough to find. There's lots of space for children to run around and a footpath to the pub.

You can hire a firebasket and buy logs to have warmth outside your tents in the evening and it gives the place a lovely glow.

All in all I would recommend this campsite despite the negative points I've highlighted as it is friendly, spacious and relaxing.

Stayed at this site over 4 days. Managed to book two adjacent pitches one electric and one non electric - they keep a couple of pitches for this request which was good and we had loads of room.

Toilet and shower block were reasonably/very clean depending on time of day the main problem was grass as the site was keenly mowed which resulted in the cuttings being trampled into the shower block. Washing up facilities are in the same block as the showers and were fantastic. There is also a selection of leaflets on local attractions. We would have liked to see information on local walks too as many dog owners are not permitted in many attractions.

This site is the most dog friendly we have ever stayed on. as long as they are well behaved they are allowed in the shower/wash up block, off lead on site (but obviously under strict control) and no rules on exercising off site as long as 'poop and scoop' is followed. There were loads of dogs ours included and not one was problematic.

There are several pubs within walking distance but all are at least a mile and a half away so you have to enjoy the walk and be warned if you get carried away its a long very dark walk back. You are given directions to the pubs and information on nearest towns etc when you check in. There is no shop in the immediate vicinity so go prepared. (7 miles to Buxton and Bakewell which are the nearest large towns)

All in all a well kept dog friendly site slightly more expensive than we expected but probably worth it for the night sky and the peace and quiet-silence after 11pm.

Just stayed at Knotlow Farm for the bank holiday weeking. While the weather was disappointing, the campsite certainly was not.

The site is divided into different fields, and they tend to keep families together. It's quite laid back, we arrived early evening but it wasn't a problem, was given a useful information sheet and it was left up to us where we wanted to pitch. There is no rush to be out on your day of departure either. The camping fields tend to undulate slightly but even camping on one of the inclines as we did posed no problems. The fields are quite open so do catch the wind well.

All fields have waste disposal facilities inc recycling, drinking water and a token fire extinguisher. Nice thought but your tent would have burnt down by the time you'd ran over to get it. Toilets are flushed by recycled rainwater.

The toilet and shower block is first rate, quite new and plenty of room for everyone. They are also kept spotlessly clean. The showers now take 20p coins, which last 2 minutes. You can load up the meter with more coins if you so wish but you have to remember it can take 20 seconds or so for the hot water to come through!

A footpath from one of the camping fields leads directly onto the limestone way, and through to Monyash. The Bulls head pub/restaurant in Monyash looks great but remember to book in advance, don't just turn up and find it fully booked (as we did). In fact most of the pubs on the local information sheet given on arrival get booked up quite quickly.

The Bulls head has also got a children's play area next to it (There are no children's play facilities on the site).

I would certainly recommend it
