July 2005 I have just returned from a 2 night stay on this campsite with my 5 ½ year old. We were there on the last weekend of July, so peak season. I have read reports that the owners were very friendly and welcoming. However, I can’t comment on this, as we didn’t meet them. Perhaps one of the owners was the lady running the shop? If so, she was quite pleasant. I’ve also read that the warden’s kept the children entertained, although again, we did not see the wardens.
The shop was convenient, although extremely small and only sold the very bare basics. Signs advised us to order newspapers and bread rolls in advance to avoid disappointment. This possibly only applies in peak season. However, with the 24 hour Asda very close by, this was not really a big issue. The site is also close to a cinema, which would be handy for rainy days.
The campsite was lovely and peaceful at night, although we were woken on the Monday morning at about 7.45 by the building works next door.
Our pitch was on the edge of the site and was very small. Although we only had a 4-man dome tent and a small car, we ended up slightly over the edge of our pitch and virtually on top of the people next to us. Perhaps I should have parked the car in front of our tent, as opposed to by the side!
The beach is very close, but it is pebbly and VERY steep. The sea itself was quite murky. I did see a couple of brave souls venture into the sea, but I wouldn’t have been happy for my daughter to go in.
The children’s play area was ok, though quite small and busy. The portakabin style “block” only had 2 showers, 3 toilets and 3 sinks for the whole field, which I didn’t consider adequate. The showers and toilets were very small. Those who said they didn’t have to queue were very lucky – we did, with around 5 people in front of us, though only in the morning and evening “rush-hours”. I’m afraid I don’t agree about the toilets and showers being kept especially clean. There was the usual campsite problem of wet floors with grass everywhere. There was a mop and bucket that people were asked to use to clean the shower areas with after using them, but the water in it was filthy! There was only one soap dispenser by the sinks and this was empty for a few hours on one day and it was quicker to shake your hands dry than use the dryer! There was another block in the other field, which we didn’t use, but from the outside didn’t seem much bigger. Maybe it was better inside?
It was handy having somewhere to wash up, although again, there were only 2 sinks and we had to queue to use them. The sink we used wasn’t clean, with bits of food stuck in the plughole and floating on the draining board. Someone had also left dirty knives and forks next to the taps. However, I appreciate that this was due to the inconsideration of other campers.
All in all, a middle-of –the-road site, which could be so much better with some improvements. In particular I think the toilet, shower and washing up facilities need modernising and a they need tending to more regularly. It would be handy if some provision was made for children using the sinks – my daughter couldn’t reach the soap dispenser and she had terrible trouble trying to brush her teeth as she could only just get her chin over the top of the sink. A little platform for her to stand on would have made a huge difference in this respect.
I also think that £24 for 2 nights was too much.

May 2005 Had a great few days here at the end of May. Toilets are showers are clean and tidy and the wardens were very friendly. Great location for Eastbourne (Tesco and Asda close by) and Hastings a nice day out also. Lots to do with the children in the area and a great play area on site. We will be coming back in the near future.

June 2005 I agree with all the details and comments about the site and its cleanliness etc. and the helpful wardens.
What was disappointing was that we asked for a level pitch when we booked and were told that would be fine, there was no way I could get the Motor Home level on the pitch allocated. However it was no trouble to get a change of pitch.
The toilets were clean but consisted of a portakabin style and were very small.
Although I knew the charges before hand I think £3.00 for electricity per night is expensive and a pound for a dog which must be exercised off site is also a bit naughty, but a dog litter bin was provided.
With some improvements particularly in the Toilet blocks and pricing structure it could be a much better site. The hard standings were a joke.
The real test is would I go back again. I think I would even though I have a few reservations!

March 2005 Stayed for Easter weekend following disastrous stay over the road. Site has new wardens who were friendly and had only been there for three days. I've not stayed here before but would definitely be back. Loved the toilet blocks as these were clean The wardens kept the kids entertained by organising an Easter Egg hunt around the site - it kept them busy for most of the morning. The shop was well-stocked and you could order your daily newspaper. Unfortunately, the wardens forgot to lock the gate on Saturday night which meant that people could spend 2 hours noisly packing their tent before disappearing. There are notices everywhere saying that the gates would be locked between 11pm and 7.30am and that there was to be no noise on site between those times.
Plus points: no road noise, plenty of wild animals, clean site, hot water, well-stocked shop. Close to local amenities even Pevensey Castle which is situated at the end of a lovely walk across the fields (about a mile). No noise from the new housing estate or from the apartments which are being built next door.
Can't wait for the Summer when I shall re-visit the area and the site again.

August 2004 Having just finished restoring and equiping my VW camper, I thought it would be a good idea to take it away for a few days just to test it out. After ringing round loads of sites (at short notice!) Bay View was the first we found that wasn't fully booked. So we booked up for 2 nights.
This was our first experience of staying on any campsite and it was excellent. The couple who run the site were very helpful to us new campers and the site was clean, friendly with excellent facilities. The showers & toilet block was always clean with hot water. The washing up block was excellent (just like your kitchen sink at home!)
We only stayed for 2 nights but our family (2 adults, 1 two year old and dog) really enjoyed our first camping trip. This is a great site and right next to the sea!

Broadhembury Holiday Park - Ashford
Just 15 minutes from Ashford and 25 minutes from fabulous beaches, you'll be ideally placed for exploring the Garden of England. The park is divided into a family area, that is close to the play parks, the sports field and the games room, and a peaceful adult-only area in The Meadows, that is ideal for couples. A range of grass and hardstanding pitches, fully serviced or non electric, catering for all sized of tents and caravans.
On both areas you will enjoy five-star, centrally-heated showers, and private cubicles with toilet, hand basin, dryers etc. Laundry and campers kitchens, a large childrens playground, sports field, games room and television lounge. The park has CCTV and WiFi is available for a small fee. A dog walking area is provided on site. Find out more here

September 2004 We visited this site after reading the reviews. Sorry, cannot agree fully with what we read. The charges for two people with hookup and a trailer tent were a bit over the top at £16.50 for the last day of the high season and £14.50 for the other two nights. The average we have paid for the 2004 season is £12.50 a night including showers. The pitches were a bit too close together. The area has been spoilt by construction of apartments on the marshland beside the site.
Plus side is a clean site with a friendly greeting from the owner, clean toilet blocks easy access to the beach and a 24 hour Asda very close by.

August 2004 We had booked a holiday to majorca but unfortunately were unable to go due to mislaying a passport. We decided to try and make the most of the time we should have had and booked in at bay view. We couldn't have chosen a better site, right on the beach,a ten minute walk into the village of pevensey bay, where you just have to try the sandwich inn, open all day 7 days a week , cheap as chips and very tasty, not to mention friendly! We were also a 20 minute walk to sovereign marina where there was a selection of restraunts including mexican, Thai, italian and a harvesters. Asda was handy for buying food and instant barbeques which we enjoyed on our campsite. The campsite was a credit to michael and dianne- by R Sayers and J Cook

June 2004 Every so often one finds a gem, this site is idyllic set in a bay, it has varied wildlife and is so very peaceful. It is obvious the owners have tried.. (and succeeded) to mix modern needs while preserving the natural wildlife habitat. One of the criteria of all campers is clean shower blocks, these were spotless! My wife and I found plenty to amuse ourselves around the camp… Eastbourne being a couple miles west, while Pevencey bay 1.5 to the East. The beach is literally the end of the camp field, so amazing, the sea walk is fantastic. This campsite made me so welcome, the owners are both friendly and helpful. My conclusion….... if you want a undisciplined, rowdy and loud campsite, drive on! I wouldn’t hesitate to return, I have been camping for 35 years and this site is a true gem! Well done Michael and Diana Adams.

April, May, August 2003 Have visited here many times during the summer. This was the first site we had visited as campers last year, and came back every Bank Holiday and most weekends during the summer.
The showers and toilets were clean and although there were only 2 showers in the ladies block we rarely had to queue. There was another block on the field adjacent.
The kids loved the playground and the beach was right on the doorstep, great for dog walking and moonlit walks.
We walked to the harbour most days for shopping at Asda etc, and the kids enjoyed watching the yachts and fishing boats come in at the harbour, while we had a drink and snack at the harvester.
We will be visiting again during the summer.

2001 - 2003 Fantastic site! We have been here for the last 3 years running and it's perfect for our kids. Friendly staff, clean facilities and even though the shop is pretty small it's well stocked and not massively overpriced. The site is situated far away from the main road right next to the beach so it has a lovely peaceful atmosphere.
There's nothing really to fault about this place. The pitches are flat, the playground is great for the kids, there's lots to do in the local area.... Beachy Head, Eastbourne town, Sovereign center fun pools and stacks of other places to visit from castles to amusements.
On a final note, it's very reasonably priced even in peak time so it wont break the bank either.
