Great location - easy walk, bike ride to Eastbourne and it's facilities. 1 minute walk to shingle beach which is quiet and clean.
Toilets and showers were clean but there were only six showers for the whole site - good thing that the site was not busy.
Nice play area for the children in main area. Staff were very helpful and friendly. There are essentials available to purchase in reception/shop.

Great little family site. Kids loved it here as right next to beach and a large play park that they spent lots of time in. Asda less than 5 mins drive. Everything clean and well maintained.
Only criticism pitches seemed very close together so not much privacy, but that wouldn't put me off and plan to go back again next year. Eastbourne well worth a visit, such a clean lovely seaside town, funfairs for kids etc., beachy head is great for a long walk with fantastic views (not great for young children though, we went without them)

We stayed at Bay View for 1 night on arrival reception was very helpful giving us a pack with the local attractions etc in the pack brilliant as I didn't know what to expect from the local area.
The campsite is well kept and the toilet facilities are the best I have come across while camping so far very clean and hot water in the showers.
You don't need to worry if you run out of anything as the local asda is open 24 hours and it is not far from the campsite, there is also a Cinema, boots, jjb, next etc all on the same shopping complex.
Will definitely go back to stay at this campsite if we go back to Eastbourne.

A relatively small site with 'compact' pitches. We came here once in 2008 with a trailer tent and had some horrendous weather (not their fault!) so we thought we'd try again - especially as it was Eastbourne Airbourne air show weekend.
We have a fairly large tent (7. 7m x 4. 5m - Outwell Vermont XL) and we made them aware of this when we booked, but on arrival on a busy weekend, they had problems finding a pitch where we'd fit. They were very apologetic, but we were on the point of leaving when they moved a campervan to squeeze us into a 'just-about' pitch. We weren't happy at first, but decided to make the best of it and I'm glad we did.
The site is friendly enough. The toilet/shower block is tidy and cleaned regularly, plus there's always a bucket & mop for you to take matters into your own hands if it gets mucky between cleans. There is (strictly) no cycling or ball games, which is fair enough, given how congested it can get. No commercial vehicles - no vans of any description - or sign written cars
There is a small, but comprehensive kids play area, but a few too many big kids 'lurking' on this occasion for ours to play very much
We have small kids and the 'no cycling' forces you out of the site and down the road to a completely wonderful beachfront path to Eastbourne's Sovereign Harbour - a huge and tasteful complex of new built flats and flashy marina with shops and restaurants.
The paved path is about a mile, past an old Martello Tower, so a good cycle for the kids with parents trying to keep up! There's a sea lock to watch the boats going in & out and, if you make it 'all the way', there's a Harvester pub as a reward.
The beach is stony and I believe that the occasional very low tide reveals some sand, but rarely, and not that we saw.
The site shop has a good selection of food basics, and some charity boxes of second hand books which was great. A short drive is a retail park with a big Asda & a cinema complex if you feel the need! We are fairly local, but visitors from further afield will find a mass of tourist attractions in Sussex, not least Eastbourne itself.
We had a lovely 4 day break. I don't know if we'll come back, maybe one day if we downsize.

This was our first visit to this site .We had previously stayed nearby but the winds had put us off going back. Reception staff showed us to our pitch and seemed friendly enough. We were in the overflow field and it was pretty busy with no room and no privacy between pitches. There were some very friendly campers, who were only to happy to help, as the ground was harder than anything I've experienced before (need a lot of new pegs).
The playground was in the other field, which after visiting I was glad of, as the kids seemed to be in what was more like gangs, which I found quite uncomfortable, so we didn't stay long. It had nice play equipment though.
The first night was lovely and calm with no wind, but with other campers being so close and having teenagers, we were kept awake past 11pm. The second night the campers behind came back after 1am, after being out drinking and were noisy.
The 2 showers and 3 toilets that were in our field were very clean whenever we used them, but could do with a few more. The shops and beach are all within easy reach. I would go back again if we could choose who we were pitched next to.

We have just come back from a 5 night stay at this site. We were stopping here because it was so close to Eastbourne where we have friends and family to visit. It was the first time we had chosen to camp here and I was pleasantly surprised.
The pitches were well maintained and the staff were well organised at check in. The toilet block and showers were lovely and clean at all times of the day. We were in close proximity to the Harbour which boasts many restaurants and bars and, as a keen runner, there are miles of pathway along the seafront to run along. My teenage son loved being so close to the beach and we spent several mornings swimming and walking down there.
The only criticism I would have would be to have longer shop hours - but that's just because I always forget something! However, there is a 24 hour ASDA only a mile away should you need it.
I will definitely be making a yearly visit to this site in the future and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a small, family site.

We have just returned from an 8 day holiday at this site and were impressed. The welcome was friendly and we were guided to our pitch in what is classed as the overflow field. This part of the site is well laid out with all the electric hook up pitches around the perimeter. Each pitch is of a good size and well marked out.We have a Cabanon Aruba tent(6 metres by 4 metres) with a side annexe and sun canopy to the front and still had plenty of room for our trailer, car and had plenty of room for windbreaks etc. All pitches were flat ( with a few lumps and bumps thanks to the rabbits)and well drained.BE WARNED though, you will need rock buster tent pegs ( first time that I have ever bent these, but I bent 3)and a good weighty mallet. If you don't heed this you will bend ALL your pegs and the ones that you can buy for 69p in the shop tend to break ( plastic tops).
The facilities are clean and functional ( 2 men's showers,2 ladies showers,2 washing up sinks ) when these are being cleaned ( twice a day)you can use the new block on the main field ( behind the reception, on the left)The shop doubles up as reception and has the basics but Asda is 5 mins drive down the road at the same site where the beautiful Sovereign Marina is ( separate car park for the marina/bars/restaurants but also free)There is also a big Tescos Extra a little further down the road.
The pebbly beach is a 2 min walk away if you turn left and go past the Sailing club you will reach Pevensey Bay itself with a range of pubs, gift shops and a good chippy ( gravy and mushy peas available). If you turn right on the beach you will reach the Sovereign Harbour, you will need to cut through the apartment blocks when you get to this to get to the Marina itself but this takes about 10 mins along the footpath ( just in front of the apartments facing the sea)
There is a kids play area on site ( which is relatively small) but contrary to previous posts, ball games CAN be played on site as long as respect is shown to other peoples property and privacy.
The gates to both fields are padlocked at 23.00 but you can get in by foot, so if you are going to the pub, walk. There is a noise curfew from 23.00-07.30, which is good but the warden, whilst present,is not constantly in your face and is always polite.
My only criticisms are that the clubhouse for the golf course never seems to be open in the evening (missing a money making opportunity here), there is NO flexibility about staying on site for an extra half hour or so on your last day ( the overflow field was virtually empty when we asked) although everyone is treated the same and that if you are arriving from Brighton direction, you can easily miss the sign for the entrance ( it is clear if you are coming from Pevensey Bay direction).
All in all, a good family friendly and safe site and an excellent base to see much of the beauty and historical sites around. It might be worth while joining National Heritage (£77 per year for 2 adults and up to 6 kids)to get the full benefit of all the castles and priory's etc.
We will be returning

This was our first trip in our new (second hand) motorhome. The site is nicely placed for the beach which is pebbly with a steep slop down to the sea, here there is sand.
It is within walking distance of the Sovereign marina, about 20 minutes. There are nice eating places and a shopping park here. Well worth a visit. The site management were very helpful and friendly. This being our first trip we had a few teething problems and the staff could not have been more helpful, so thank you to them.
The toilets, showers and washing up area on the overflow field (where we were) were very clean. We will return.

This was my second annual visit to this site( not my choice) but an established location for a 7 Dads and 12 kids week-end.
The tent-site is a regimented square, 2 sides with leylandii partially obscuring the modern housing development beyond. The marked out pitches are not large, there is no privacy, and little space for children to run-around. The ground is flat, but hard.
Thankfully, there is a modern play-ground for the children and the beach is close-by. Although shingle, its a nice/swimmable beach to be on.
Facilities are good and clean- even net curtains in the lavs!
This is sanitised camping, a site for your hook-up motor-home brigade, rather than old-school camping. There is no shortage of rules and regulations with signage to remind you !
There are plenty of super-market opportunities near-by, as are the fun-fair delights of Eastbourne.
Although only 70/80 miles from Clapham, Sth london, it always takes 2hrs15mns to get there and thankfully you can get to many other places in that time.

Stayed for 2 nights, first weekend in June, fantastic weather with no wind! Good location, 2 mins walk to shingle beach, 15 mins walk to Sovereign Harbour restaurants & shops. A nine-hole par 3 golf course next door seems to be owned by the site (didn't use it).
There is a small reception/shop, just sells basics. Two flat fields with toilet block in each, one more modern than the other, both very clean. Small kids play area in one field. The pitches were crammed in so you were very close to your neighbours.
Hardly any space for the kids to run around. For the relatively high price (£22 a night, family of 4, non-electric), this was very disappointing. The ground is very, very hard, wrecked quite a lot of pegs!
Like the previous review found the staff reluctant to go out of their way to be helpful. Some friends had booked for a night while we there; they were put into the other field. When they asked if they could pitch on one of the empty pitches near us, they were given an abrupt 'no'. Many of the empty pitches remained empty overnight. It seemed like the staff couldn't be bothered.
Unlikely to stay here again, which is a shame because it is in a great location.
