Tents too close together, packed in like sardines. Were kept awake by several groups until 2am, no sign of a warden. There were 2 showers between about 50 units in our field most people used facilities in another camping field.

Good points clean facilities and only a couple of minutes to shingle beach. Did not try golf course or clubhouse. No noise on our overflow field from the clubhouse

The last time we were at Bay View was in October. It is now run by different people (owned by the same company though) and some changes have taken place.

The play area is smaller which the kids didn't like. Didn't seem any reason to shrink it, the site isn't using the extra space for anything. Come the summer the playarea gets busy.

There used to be steps in the far corner of the site to take you straight onto the beach. These have now gone so you have to walk through the site and up a bumpy road to the beach.

This was our first visit with a motorhome and the previous review is absolutely right, we had the put our front wheels on blocks!

The reception/shop closes at 5pm! When we arrived at just gone 5 we had to ring a mobile number and they opened reception. Our children used to go to the shop after tea and get an ice lolly, no more, although saves my pennies.

I'm afraid we also found the new staff a bit stand offish. Although someone does now show you to you pitch. The previous team were really friendly and helpful.

We have visited this site many times over the last 5 years and we were disappointed to find the changes that had taken place.

Just spent a lovely week here. Very clean site & right next to the beach. Very clean toilet block with good clean FREE showers & even FREE hairdryers (there's even one in the gents). Fairly level pitches (some HS) but ground is hard so rock pegs needed. Did notice that hard stands seem a little small, one motorhome didn't fit on his pitch & his front axle was on leveling blocks on the grass. Mid week another motorhome turned up & while reversing onto his hard pitch he reversed into the fence while trying to get his front axle on, & this was only an average size MH so if you have a long motorhome I'd stick to the grass pitches.

We were camping in the field behind the reception area where the kids play area is, which seems quite good (we have no kids). The toilet block here looks quite new. The field opposite the reception has no kids play area & the toilet block looks quite old although we never looked in so cannot comment on it's condition.

It's a nice walk along the beach down to sovereign harbour to look (& dream) at the boats here. There is also a selection on bars/restaurants here, & on nice weather days (like we had) you can enjoy your meal sat at the harbour side. On leaving the site via the road & turn left for eastbourne it's only a 2 min drive or 10 min walk to a 24 hour asda. Handy for those groceries/beer, there is also a small retail park here with clothes shops & a blockbuster for dvd rental.

5 - 10 mins drive gets you into Eastbourne, 20 - 25 mins takes you to Brighton, & in the other direction 15 - 20 mins get you to Hastings. A visit to Beachy Head is a must while in the area it's a really beautiful place, don't pay to park tho' it's free if you park at the hotel & there's toilets here but it did get busy as we came back to our car so go fairly early. A great area & a very good site, would recommend & use again.

We had very high winds for the 2 nights that we stayed. Obviously because it is right by the beach. It's aggravated by the fact that tents are made to pitch in the middle of both the fields. The sheltered spots around the edges are for electric hook ups. This was annoying as when we arrived, at the end of August, the site was very quiet. Over an hour to cook a pan of pasta in a howling gale is not fun!

On the plus side, the staff were very helpful and did anchor down one of our tents that nearly blew away when we were out for the day. I even got phoned up to be told that one of our tents was in trouble. They are much friendlier in person than over the phone but the rules are very strict that you can't pitch until 1pm and have to leave by 12pm.

The site is a bit expensive, but I think that is true of all south east coast camp sites. The pitch size was OK though - we managed to fit in 3 small tents and a car. However, in high season you don't get much space between you and your neighbours! The playground is a bit basic for children over 5 and it is a shame that ball games are banned on site.

Having a shop on the site is a real bonus. We were in the field opposite reception and the smaller toilet block was clean and had 2 showers and 3 toilets, with one curtained sink. There were also indoor washing up sinks which was very civilised. Lots of useful information around the site on places to visit on rainy days etc. On a lovely sunny day it is great, minutes from a quiet beach.

Check the weather forecast before you go!

Had a great week on this site, was the last week of July (1st week of the school summer holidays). Although virtually all of the pitches were taken it did not seem busy!

Pitches were slightly on the small side, although we got our caravan, awning, car and 4 bikes on with room to sit in the sun and have a bbq!

The weather was great, so we were happy using the cycle paths down to the harbour and into Eastbourne, with two 7 year olds safety is always a major factor! If the weather had been back we would probably have spent a fortune though! Didn't walk into Pevensey, as it was further than expected, but walked most evening's into the harbour to see the boats and have a drink!

The site itself was very clean, the main shower block was immaculate (shower, sink and toilet in 1 cubicle, what a great idea!)The staff were very helpful when we wanted directions, and couldn't help enough when someone kept tripping our electric out! The children enjoyed the play area.

Would recommend this site, in fact we already have. We WILL be back in the future!

Broadhembury Holiday Park - Ashford

Just 15 minutes from Ashford and 25 minutes from fabulous beaches, you'll be ideally placed for exploring the Garden of England. The park is divided into a family area, that is close to the play parks, the sports field and the games room, and a peaceful adult-only area in The Meadows, that is ideal for couples. A range of grass and hardstanding pitches, fully serviced or non electric, catering for all sized of tents and caravans.

On both areas you will enjoy five-star, centrally-heated showers, and private cubicles with toilet, hand basin, dryers etc. Laundry and campers kitchens, a large childrens playground, sports field, games room and television lounge. The park has CCTV and WiFi is available for a small fee. A dog walking area is provided on site. Find out more here

This is one the best campsites we have stayed at. It is a well maintained and clean site in a beautiful area. There a good toilet and shower facilities that were kept clean at all times. There is a really good playground area for the children and the beach is only a 5 minute walk away. My only criticism is that the shop wasn't very well stocked with essentials that you would need for camping.

Lovely clean site. There are 2 shower/toilet blocks, one is a bit old (which is still clean) and a newer one which was lovely and spacious, great if you have kids.

Nice little park, although if you were in the other field to it you have to cross a road track so have to be careful with kids (to be honest, this day, I don't think you should leave kids wondering off anyway.)

The owners are very friendly and even would print of weather reports or would very very helpful with anything else you needed.

Beach is on the door and just about 10 mins walk is the lovely marina, with shops and bars etc. There is also a small shop on site that sells most things inc beach stuff.

Pitches were a bit small but to be honest we got our huge 8 birth tent and family car on the pitch not probs.

Overall, we would come back, in fact will be re-booking for June and for Aug!

This is a nice little site at the end of a quiet unmade road right next to the beach. Admittedly my tent is rather large but it was a squeeze to get it, the car and bikes on to the allocated pitch something we were told must be done. Because of the amount of pitches in the small space it did get a bit cramped.

There was a children's play area in the other field, but it did mean crossing the access road (track)

The field we were in had a small but clean toilet and shower block but the block in the other field was much better appointed and spacious.

The site was well placed to be able to walk or cycle to the Sovereign Harbour for food or shopping but Eastbourne itself would be a long walk or ride and only do-able with older children.
