August 2003 I read some of the reviews before booking and must admit I was sold on the site before we got there. Reality is that it is a well worked out site, albeit the pitches seem squeezed in a little (we were in field 5), the checking in process was slow (and we arrived off peak time!!), however once on pitch the facilities were good, with a washing up sink located at the end of our row, Electric and water points on each pitch (water shared between 2 pitches, and numerous hot showers avaialble (albeit to hot as you can't alter the temperature and this during the hottest week of the year!!!!).
We didn't make to much use of the costly extras (archery etc.) however the pool was clean and not too busy, whilst the night time entertainment was also good value.... (We should have won the karioke, but were robbed by the cute boy singing Danny Boy!!!).... Food prices seemed ok, beer prices on the hotel prices end of ok....
Shop staff could do with learning to smile a little, however the shop was ALWAYS busy.... well stocked though....
Would I go back, well, no probably not, not really down to the site though more to do with the lack of things to visit locally once you have done the obvious ones.....
A suitable site for a week away....

August 2003 An excellent campsite, which only suffers from a 5 minute wait in Reception and 30 minutes in the takeaway, but well worth it.
I paid £21.50 for a family of 4 with a caravan with electric, and enjoyed a vast range of excellent free facilites which my children enjoyed. The adventure playground is second to none. The BMX track is International standard. The woodland walk is good. The pool clean and water warm. The showers and toilets spotless and can have own private shower room and also have a proper bath. The whole site is well thought out and designed. Everything is very close by and to a high standard. The club and take away is excellent. £2.50 buys a small meal, £4-£5 a full main meal. The compere runs an excellent disco and karaoke for children and families which is all included in the pitch price.
I paid the same price in Cornwall for a much lesser campsite, and a similar site in Norfolk is 30% more. Am going to return next year.

July 26th - Aug 1st 2003 Lovely campsite. Like the fact that pitches are separated by hedges or rocks. Toilets and showers clean, although had to walk to another field. Lots of activities on site - although some pricey. Lots of animals to see - llamas, donkeys, goats, ducks and a parrot called Sonny. 5mph speed limit on the site. Bicycles allowed. Good adventure playground and childrens play area. Now the downsides - It is a little bit pricey, we even had to pay extra for our trailer. There is a manual check-in system, and as this is a very busy site, I had to wait some time whilst they found my booking. Also, ourselves and quite a few other people on site, found the staff to be not the most welcoming we've encountered!

Kevin Wall writes:
A busy site, ideal for those with children. Lots of activities and facilities including archery, air rifle shooting, adventure playground, swimming pool, table tennis and nature walks. There are also lots of animals for the children to look at. There are loads of signs as you enter which is a bit offputting but the site is very good.
