I have just spent Bank Holiday weekend at Eweleaze from a recommendation on this site. It really is amazing in terms of location and we had brilliatnt weather - but it seemed to me that they were in it over their head this weekend. The place was totally packed and there are only 6 proper toilets for a huge campsite, 2 of which broke down on Saturday! There were holes in the ground with tents over them for an alternative. This was actually more bearable than you'd think - but only because the weather was good - I can't imagine what it would have been like had it been a)raining and b)cold. I had to queue for 45 minutes to go to the loo on Sunday morning - after which I resorted to the holes in the ground. I waited until later that evening to have a shower - to avoid the queues - which did die down when we were all told the water had stopped. But when I got a cubicle I was glad of the dribble of freezing cold water that meant I could wash my hair! I don't want to be down on the place because we had a great time. (and I will be very unpopular with people on this site who love the place!) The atmosphere is great and very laid back - and I'm not advocating changing that, but it would be nice if some of the money that was made on BH weekend was put towards some better loos!

Although the view are out of this world I would not recommend coming on a bank holiday weekend. The campsite ran out of water and at times there were no "normal" toilets, showers and some drinking water taps ran out too.

Also, be warned of the steep and bumpy entrance to the site if you do not have a robust car. I saw the AA called out on 2 occassions whhile I was there.

Despite all this, a lovely time was had by all.

25 - 29 Aug. Would like to start with, that we really enjoyed our visit and will go again.
This is just to warn people who expect more luxuries from a camp site, we saw quite a few arrive and then do a u turn and leave.
Parts of track in to site are bad, some cars, vans, towing vehicles had problems getting back up hill. Would have been even worse if wet. Toilets in our field ran out of water, as did the solar showers and at one point drinking water. Not sure about other fields. Only two fields have flush toilets, one also with two sinks in open field for washing up. Some fields have no toilets at all or just a hole with a toilet tent over it or a portaloo. People did carry on using flush toilets even after water ran out! so farmer, on Monday, used a strap round the shed instead of tape to close it. Saturday at 11 pm he was unblocking toilets to get them going again after tank emptied at 7 pm but people broke tape and carried on using them. New solar shower sheds near reception, 6 I think, but water only heated as used not stored, so no late night warm showers only cold.
Water is from tank somewhere on farm so people using cold water taps in toilets and drinking water taps to wash or wash up by leaving them running meant as soon as tank full it was empty again within a few hours.
This all sounds bad but the area is lovely, sea views, organic food, open fires (£2.50 a bag for logs, kindling free from field near showers). A lot of the site is sloping not just the bits nearer the sea. But people pitched no matter how steep the slope. So either vist at quieter times and take it as you find it, or be prepared in busier times to use ditch toilets, boil kettle to wash up and wash at tent. As I said at the start we enjoyed our stay as did our friends who haven't camped since they were kids. We are in early 30's, early 40's so not what you would call students used to roughing it a bit.
Lovely camp site £5 per person per night, you get what you pay for.

Visited in the first 2 weeks of August. Very relaxed site which allows campfires although the wood offered on site was a bit twiggy. Entertainment for the kids was provided with a large haystack deposited in the centre of the field for them to jump on. Great stuff, although the older ones got a bit intimidating for the littl'uns when they got a bit gee'd up. Dog got involved at one stage. This wasn't pleasant.

Didn't feel we had to be whispering after 11pm as plently of room between tents and others up late having a civilised beer or two as well.

Stunning views of the coast from the top field. Beach was stoney and had a bit of rubbish on it, probably due to its inaccessibility

2 local pubs; the Sunray (walking distance... just) and the Smugglers. Both serve standard pub food and are child friendly

Excellent meat products on sale on site. I love a nice meat product.

Toilets etc exceptionally clean... the shed like appearance is deceptive. The chickens have better accommodation than most of the campers with their 28' static caravans

'Road' to site is a bit hairy and you don't want to get caught halfway up meeting a car coming down as we did several times!!!!!!!

Would return

What a great laid-back camping experience!

It's certainly not about the facilities, although the two showers were clean enough and there was plenty of cold water for washing dishes! But ... the location is tremendous and the lack of regulation very refreshing.

There's plenty of space (I think you only really need to book for bank holidays), and you can pitch pretty much as you like - great for groups wanting to create their own 'encampments'. Campfires are allowed (the owner even provides the firewood) and dog's are welcome.

It's worth driving around to check out the campsite before choosing a pitch - the first field is more sheltered and closer to the facilities (such as they are), whereas the further fields have fantastic sea views.

Just come back from a few days at Eweleaze Farm. We pitched our tent in one of the top fields with great sea views and only a five minute walk and a bit of a climb down to the private beach. We had 2 young teenage children with us who did really enjoy the freedom and space of the open fields.
The only bug bear was that it was about a 20 minute round trip to the toilets and showers in one of the bottom fields.
People with really young children I would recommed using the bottom fields near the toilet and shower sheds.
We really enjoyed our time there and hope to go back next August.

Good basic field camping in an excellent location.

A selection of large fields, with well displaced water points (not drinking water) and some loos/shower sheds (“sheds” – but they are clean and well kept).

A good site, given the space, if there is a group of you - you can easily make your own collective encampment away form others. Equally a good site for those of you with your BIG tents/military hospitals – no size restrictions here!

The beach is only 5 minutes walk away and, although pebbled, is quiet and secluded.

I certainly recommend the site, if you are looking for something more basic, spacious and in a good location.

Things to note:

1) Ignore the address on the web site ! – drive through Osmington, on the way to Weymouth, and just as you leave, turn left into a farm road (it is marked by the back of a 30mph sign, for drivers coming into the village).
Also note, it is a challenging (!£$%!*) farm road to the site – certainly not one for your low suspension Ferrari!

2) Three is an excellent café, for morning fry-up, on the beach at Weymouth. Turn left out of the camp road and drive towards Weymouth after 5 minutes you will come to the start of the seafront (before getting to the Sea-life centre), turn left and it is in front of you.

Went to Eweleaze last August Bank Holiday (Only open in August!) - The weather forecasters told the whole country to stay indoors because of torrential rain. . . We had fantastic weather all weekend!

The site is great if you like basic camping and want to see the real world instead of a nice neat holiday park. The views over the sea are amazing and we stayed up late stargazing and watching the moons reflections on the sea. CAMPFIRES ARE PERMITTED, they even have a massive supply of fuel which is free! A few idiots decided to build huge bonfires, but fortunatley they didn't seem to know what they were doing as the fires went up in a big roar and then died out just as quickly!!

There is a private, shingle beach and I caught mackerel early in the morning which we cooked over the camp fire for breakfast. The facilities are basic, but adequate, there is a garden shed in each field which looks daunting from the outside, but once inside you find a proper toilet, shower, basin and even nice little curtains for privacy.

The farmer sells organic produce which is pretty good and Weymouth is close by for any other supplies.

Loved our weekend there and we are going back this August Bank Holiday and taking a group of friends with us. My favourite site 9/10.

Just spent 10 days at Eweleaze farm and it was great (apart from the weather!). The farm is down a long bumpy track which is ok if you don't drive fast. The views are awesome. There is a choice of about 4/5 fields. We chose the field right by the sea so woke up every morning to stunning sea views. There is a private beach which was great for my son although is pebbles not sand. there are 2 ways down to the sea, one down a cliff path which was slippery after the rain and further along there were also some steps. Basic facilities. Portaloos in a couple of the fields and a couple of showers with constant hot water. Peter the farmer who owns the land is lovely, very friendly and helpful. He said he is getting 6 sonic showers fitted for next year which will improve the waiting time! The nearest tent to us was about 200 yards away. There's a lot of space for young kids (and dogs if you have them) to run about without disturbing anyone. You are allowed to have campfires which is great. We were there when the Weymouth festival was on and the farm is the turning point for the red arrows during there display so we were treated to a wonderful display without having to suffer the crowds! Peter sells eggs and beef from the farm and will freeze ice packs for you as well. All in all thoroughly enjoyable, very good value at £5/night per adult and child over 14 regardless of how many tents, vehicles etc you have. Already booked again for next year!!

We decided to go here at the last minute for August BH weekend as everywhere else was full and I'd read good reviews on here. We were 5 adults and one dog. For a Bank holiday weekend, It was mine, my sister's and my dog's first time camping and we all enjoyed every minute. There is loads of space for tents to be pitched anywhere you like from a choice of about 4 fields - we were overlooking the sea, which was great.
Dogs don't have to be tethered up or confined to any particular area so they have a stress free holiday too. Campfires are also allowed, with wood being supplied.
The toilet/shower sheds were very clean but obviously busy at peak times morning and evening.
We are already planning to return next year, it's a shame it's only open in August!
