Eweleaze's website says it's 'quiet and secluded' and 'The site covers several fields so it doesn't feel crowded, even on busy weekends'. I would argue with both of those statements. There were about 7 fields packed full of tents at the start of August. The noise in the evenings was enough to keep the kids awake. There appeared to be no rules about trying to keep the noise down after dark, and with so many tents packed into the field there was too much noise for us right into the early hours. The camp fires sounds like a good idea but some people had fires that were far too big, they ended up burning holes in their neighbours' tents and the smoke filled the valley and was clearly visible for all. Our group was down wind of one of a camp fire and we had smoke in our faces all night.
The compost toilets were cleaned regularly but as they were quite high, children were missing so there was frequently urine around the seat. There were no hand washing facilities near the toilets so all in all they were not very hygienic.
The walk to the beach was a bit of a trek and up a steep hill. Most of the campsite is on a slope. We arrived at the start of the month in the rain and our cars were skidding as we were trying to drive into the field, the hill down to the site was a scary drive indeed with few passing places. There are nice ideas like the hay for the kids to play in and the goats wandering around. The power cuts meant there were no freezer blocks to hand out and the shop ran out of food very quickly. The staff seemed quite friendly.

Had a very enjoyable stay at this amazing site. The location is just beautiful, right on the coast. A little windy as you would expect next to the sea!
The atmosphere was fantastic and very relaxed. We had a campfire on five nights out of the seven we were there. The shops sell a really good range of organic produce, and the pizza van was a hit - although campfire cooking is better!
Lots of animals for kids to interact with, and my kids loved taking the farm dogs for a walk. I did feel that the supervision in the dog pen could have been better - lots of children picking up puppies that didn't want to be picked up, and nobody telling them not to - I have a feeling someone will get bitten at some point.
Showers were very good, but toilets not the best! Compost loos on most fields, which some of us weren't comfortable with. Sometimes went to the next field to use the flushing toilets. Would prefer better hand washing facilities near the toilets. Washing up sinks only have cold water, which didn't bother us (we just boiled the kettle), but might be a problem for some.
Overall a great site for atmosphere, campfires and fun. Don't go if you like sparkly clean facilities!

We have just returned from wonderful week at Eweleaze farm.
The site consists of several fields most of which you can take a car onto with the exception of two of them (point and beach field). The site is accessed via a single farm track, I was a bit concerned reading some the reviews about ease of access but it was fine.
Each field has composting toilets and a couple have flushing loo's too. The composting loos were topped up with bark chippings regularly and were very clean. There were also gas powered showers in our field and they were fantastic, we never tried the solar showers.
The children (4, 6 and 8) loved the farm. Children were welcome to handle the animals and also loved the covered hay barn which provided endless hours of fun - look out for the sleeping piggies though.
It was very busy when we arrived (Sunday) but thre was still plenty of space, then the weekend holiday croud left and we had a much quieter field.
We went to Monkey World for a day out which was lovely, Yarmouth for the carnival was a good day out and nice beach, Kinston Lacy and Montacute (national trust) were a short drive away and of course we went onto the private beach (down a step flight of steps).
Would definitely revisit this site, loved the relaxed non nanny state approach, the open fires and fantastic freshly baked bread.

We've just returned from a fantastic week long break at Eweleaze Farm. It was everything we expected it to be and more. We camped with a large group of friends and children and it was lovely not having to worry about finding the space to all camp together - as there is so much space on the Farm. I don't think we'll ever be able to visit a designated pitch campsite again. I just loved the freedom of pitching the tent anywhere.
We stayed in the East field as it had a partial seaview and we wanted to take our cars in. The prime view fields have a no car policy but to be honest you don't really need your car much at all.
The children loved being able to walk straight to the beach from the campsite and loved searching for sparkly rocks.
Being able to have camp fires was fantastic - lots of toasted marshmallows (which are sold at the shop).
The on site shop is fantastic. Amazing selection of ales and beers and the fresh bread and pastries daily were very tasty. The on site pizza caravan is also a plus. It is bit pricey but then you pay for quality!
The loos in the East field were all compost loos and were really clean and smelt fine. They were regularly filled with toilet paper and woodchips.
The showers were really lovely too - also outside in a wooden structure like the loos but always really warm and with really good pressure.
The weather wasn't amazing - we did experience quite a bit of wind and some rain but it didn't dampen our spirits. We had a large gazebo (no extra cost).
We left the campsite to visit Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Osmington (which has a great child friendly pub) and Dinosaur World in Dorchester (not really great for under 8s but a lovely little museum and very interactive.
But really, there's not a lot of need to leave the site. There is so much space that the kids entertain themselves with kite flying, skipping, ball games, etc.
Can't wait to go back.

Have just got back from 5 days at Eweleaze Farm. Was absolutely gobsmacked when we drove over the hill and saw the site - it is absolutely stunning. Registering at reception was very simple. Loved the fact that we could choose wherever we wanted to pitch. The staff are very friendly at the site.
Facilities are not ultra modern but are good enough. The shop stocks all organic food which can work out to be quite expensive so take the basics with you. If you need to freezer block swaps make sure you go first thing in the morning or you won't get any!
The site is very hilly so take care where you pitch or you will find yourself sliding down your tent!
Lovely walk to the Smugglers Inn in Osmington, great food.
All in all, a lovely week.

A fantastic site in a stunning location.
Although in a great location, the access road is single track, steep, busy and pot holey - you don't want to be driving in and out of the site too often. But you don't need to!
On arrival the site was much bigger than expected. It's huge! There are about 8 fields and varying degrees of slopyness. You can choose anything from the centrally located 'flat field', or more inland and sheltered Corner field to the Beach field which doesn't allow cars and is busy as you'd expect from having direct beach access to the Point field which again doesn't allow cars, and is far quieter but much more steeply sloped.
We opted for a fairly flat spot in the Top Field with sea views, though it did get quite windy and was pretty busy though not too crowded.
One of the main things that attracted us to the site was being able to have campfires. It was lovely to be able to have an open fire without being told off or frowned on. Campfires are encouraged! Logs (£3. 50) and Kindling (£1) are available to buy from the shop but there is also a huge pilee of brush wood that can be collected yourself for free. However, a small saw or axe would be handy to cut it down into useable pieces.
The on-site facilities are ample:
- a shop selling freshly made bread and organic local produce as well as the usual camping essentials. Expect to pay premium prices as it is premium quality and captive market (£2. 30 loaf freshly baked organic bread, £1. 70 half dozen free range eggs. ).
- Van selling organic pizzas
- small deli selling organic freshly dug veg and sandwiches
- van selling local icecream and pies. Also ice block exchange.
- Animals! The campsite have made the effort to give the impression of an open farm. Sheep, pigs, goats and chickens can often be found roaming. A dog pen with puppies children can handle (or manhandle!)
- Toilets. Mostly Eco Loos. At regular intervals around the site you'll spot what look like small garden sheds. Inside a loo seat over a hole! Loo roll is provided, and topped up reguarly but while were there it tended to run out by later evening. They were generally clean. I didn't investigate the flushing loos, though when one of our group did they wish they hadn't as they had got blocked and pretty smelly! Sometime short queues or one or two people but only a busy times like morning.
- Showers. Not a huge number of these. I didn't bother using them as almost always saw queues of 3 or 4 people and the reports were that they weren't hot. But they are solar powered and hundreds of people on site, so I guess it depends on timing!
- Washing up sinks, a couple with cold water at the edge of the field. Queues of just 1 or 2 people at busy times.
Being a 'temporary' and tent only site it doesn't have electric hookup, but I don't think it's a bad thing given the nature of the site.
One small thing would be that given it's otherwise so child friendly it could do with a bit more consideration for children with the facilities - e. G. Toilets are quite high for kids to get onto and there is no hand washing/ santitising provision at the loos. I'm not sure what exactly, but better child orientated toilet/ washing facilities would be a great addition.
The campsite has a fantastic atmosphere, it has the feel of a festival rather than campsite. The aren't the strict rules most sites have. As far as could tell there were no rules on groups, silent times and only subtle staff patrols. But there was no trouble, no rowdyness or late night noise while we were there!
£66 for two adults for two nights was quite expensive, but there are no extra charges for gazebos etc.
We only left the site once (it's a bit of a palava driving in and out at busy times), but it was well worth it to see Durdle Door and charming Lulworth cove.

Just got back from a 3 night stay at Eweleaze & had fab weather! Beautiful site with loads of space so you can pitch wherever you want.
Hardly any flat space but nobody cared, the kids loved running around the safe fields, playing on the hale bays, looking at all the animals - in fact we hardly saw our kids- they had a blast!
Good selection of on site food which was of high quality but a tad expensive (£3. 50 for a small pie - great taste though!) - the chips were probably the best I've had for a long time.
Toilets in the fields were great, spotless & always well stocked with loo roll. I tried the solar shower & it was ice cold but I think I was unlucky as most others had a lovely warm shower - apparently the gas fired ones were great. Lovely beach a short steep walk down the cliff - easily handled by our 2 year old.
Lots of campfires going on & free wood available to everyone take your car up to the wood pile though as it may be a long drag back! Access is a bit tricky when the road's muddy but it soon dries out.
A minibus takes you to the beach front in Weymouth (£3. 50 adults & £1. 50 children return) A lovely family friendly campsite - highly recommended.

Location and atmosphere perfect, slight festival feel open fires by your tent and relaxed pitching. Near pebble beach hard to walk on but invigoratingly windy and kids loved cliffs and rock pools. Good walks from site.
Facilities like loos and showers and sinks are very basic and don't rely on the shop or the pizza van. Good croissants in the morning but ran out of stuff and had few power cuts, so take cash! Big free woodpile and great fun to collect with kids.
Proper farm so animals a-plenty; our kids loved farmdog field and puppies were shipped in but no proper supervision, some grabby grabby kids and I think there will be some bites. One bite already meant one dog on a lead, but still abke to bite? Also animals, poo and food prep areas are all mixed so take your elf and safety hat off and get out your antibacterial hand gel!
Hay barn was fabulous for our boy and he made
Our first visit to eweleaze, 3 days early aug, arrived thurs plenty of pitches to choose, fuller by fri and saturday was packed. You can choose any field very relaxed about pitching no rules at all. We chose sea view on Beach Field, slight slope but not too bad. Gorgeous view could hear the lovely sound of the sea all day and all night.
All in all really lovely, close to rural life and nature.

Brilliant a really freeing experience, no pitches choose where to camp you can walk to a beach. The showers are regularly pressure washed but as they are a shed on stilts it can Get a bit breezy but the water is piping hot and good pressure. Toilets are either flush or drop toilets. The drop toilets can get a bit smelly but they provide bark to chuck down after you which helps. Open air sinks for the washing up provide only cold water so we use an enamal bowl we put over the fire for the washing up as the warmth gets rid of the grease.
It can seem a bit disorganised and scatty at times but underneath it all it's actually a well run operation but not militant like some places.
The best thing is the campfire experience, put them where you like and get your mates and a glass of something round it and chat the night away then wake up to amazing views
Almost don't want to write this in case it gets booked up for next year

Details of this site is correct. It is large and each field has one earth loo with outdoor sink. When we arrived at two in the afternoon it was raining lots and the drive down a steep hill on a muddy farm track was rather interesting!
However after driving around debating where to pitch and thought we go to the made-up bakery, we had stone baked pizza (which was very nice)
It was so muddy we wasn't equipped with wellies and I didn't feel at all comfortable.
They have a minibus service which is around £3 return into Weymouth. Not due to service or any fault of there own but we won't be returning.
