The surrounding area of this campsite is beautiful, the beach is easier to get to than I thought, just a few steep steps; and the fields are spacious and easy to walk through.

On site facilities are also very good, showers hot and comfortable, and the food of a very good quality.

The road to get onto the site is very steep and awkward to drive down, but in good conditions, very do-able.

Very family friendly site, and we shall definitely be going back again this year!

Great campsite, lots of space. Not very level, but finding a comfortable spot not an issue. Rain soon makes access a little interesting, especially in anything without 4 wheel drive, as not only does the entry road become a little challenging, but the gateways and tracks into the fields too!

We went with friends and all the children were soon off exploring and finding animals: the last day dog walking is a fantastic amenity! Shop is great and has a nice selection of bottled local beers. Camp fires are a must and the lanterns were great fun, although the spectacular Perseids meteor shower overhead in a clear sky topped even the lanterns.

Great views and good beach: there's sand (a bit) on the end of the point, if you can be bothered to trek to it. Sea was fabulously clear, if cold. Lots to do around and the walk to the Smugglers Inn should be compulsory, as should a beer, or 2 there.

Facilities were good: the solar showers just brilliant and the toilets well maintained and well stocked with loo paper. Staff great. Will go again, although just make sure to get out before it rains, especially if you don't have 4x4!

We've just got back, rain stopped play for us which was unfortunate as the site's a really nice place with loads to do for kids,we only have 1, she's 8 yrs old but she soon made friends.

We stayed in Chicken field and have to agree with others that none of the pitches are flat in that field, we did try to look at the other fields when we 1st arrived although it had been raining heavily the day before we arrived and this made it difficult to drive around the site in.

Access to the site is down a single track which we felt could be levelled out a bit to make it easier to drive along, some more bays for vehicle to pass each other too would be a help.

The toilets and showers were nice and clean, although there could be a few more showers, we used the ones in the metal container, these were huge showers and the family fitted in one of them saving water ! lol

The animals were fun, the goats just wonder around and our daughter loved the fact that she could stroke and cuddle them.

This is a nice site, weather permitting as we felt that access and egress was hampered by the rain.

Stayed here for 6 nights recently after reading reviews on here. I can honestly say that we weren't disappointed.

We stayed on Beach field and has some of the most magnificent views, a beautiful sight to wake up to every morning, watching the sea and the regatta that was on.

The beach field is a car free field, allows you to bring your car at the beginning and end of your stay but was sadly spoilt by some people that thought it was ok to bring their car on late in the evening and leave it until lunchtime the next day when the wardens asked them to move it. Spoilt it a little I think.

The site is very very uneven and a flat pitch would be very hard to find I imagine however, people seem just to make do.

Earth toilets were absolutely cracking, cleaned every single morning, well stocked and probably better than a lot of toilets on some of the campsites that I have stayed on. Same goes for the showers, just brilliant.

Staff great, could ask them anything and they would go out of their way to help, shop was very well stocked with most things that you would need for your trip.

Walk to Smugglers Inn is interesting to say the least ! Took us about 40 mins, lots of huffing and puffing but a nice pub at the end of it :-) We walked back with full bellies, then the heavens opened and the walk became even more interesting (and slippy !)

The absolute best thing was being able to have a campfire. Something I have never done before but it really was brilliant. We made a fire most evenings, cooked over it first then lit it more for warmth.

Imagine, sitting outside your tent, glass of wine, stars shining, watching the lanterns go and all with the comfort of a camp fire. Blissful.

We stayed at Eweleaze for 4 nights after recommendations from my brother who had visited the year before.

There was 6 adults and 5 children under 5 and it's fair to say all our needs were catered for.

I'll get the only gripe I have out of the way; there are very few flat pitches on the entire site but that doesn't mean you're camping on a huge slope, just enough for you to wake up lower the bottom of your tent than where you started.

My son is 21 months old he was amazed at all the open space there was. Campers pitched around the edge of the Chicken field (where we stayed) so there was a huge area for children to play. The animals, puppies, kittens, sheep, goat, chickens and Peacock was ample for the children to visit every day.

The toilets and showers were some of the cleanest I've used on sites.

But the evenings made it, sat on hay bales around the camp fire watching satellites and shooting stars and avoiding the sky lanterns which were going up at regular intervals.

We'll be back for a week next year!

As other people have said, Eweleaze is a large site on an organic farm. Compared to other campsites we have been on it is clearly very well organised and the owners are very keen to make money, this is not however rampant profiteering. For example a bag of dry logs is £3; that is less than we pay at our local garage. A portion of chips is £1.50, nothing over the odds (well I though at least).

The facilities are good, the on site take- aways and shop have a decent selection of mostly local organic produce and camping essentials.

The site itself has a temporary feel, spread over 7 fields we pitched in the top field so we could keep the car next to the tent (there are two fields next to the beach that cars cannot be kept on).

There were a couple of composting toilets and washing up points in each field and solar showers at several locations. A word about the composting toilets, if you have seen Slumdog Millionaire you might have an idea of what I thought the toilets could have been like. I can, however thankfully report that they were fine, I know we were there for the first week but they were all moved at least once during our stay (hole filled in, new one dug etc) and apart from the odd whiff of wee on a rare hot day they did not smell of anything worse than a new shed!

The solar showers were brilliant, there were two types, some temporary ones near our field and then main ones in the yard. The temporary ones were fine on the two days I used them, late in the afternoon after some sun, I did hear reports that on very dark days they were less than hot, however the main ones in the yard were really good, even on an overcast day with all ten showers in use they were really good.

Access to the beach is via steep steps or a rather exciting cliff path, the beach is stony, the water is clear and there are fossils if you look carefully.

There are good pubs nearby such as the Smugglers’ Arms in Osmington Mills. Nearby Weymouth is like a cross between Blackpool and Brighton, although a little closer to the former ;) but fine for the cinema and lunch on a rainy day. There are lots of other attractions, such as Lulworth Cove and Castle.

When we arrived we quickly renamed the site ‘Boden on Sea’ due to the amount of middle class wannabe Glampers (us included). There was a great, friendly atmosphere.

If I am honest the best thing about the site was that our children ran free, made a lot of friends and spent hours playing on the pile of hay bales the farmer had left in the field, running in and out of each others tents, making up silly games, and generally getting a little feral. It was great to see and made the whole holiday worthwhile.

The only annoyance was having to pay the whole amount in advance, I can see the commercial reasons for this but it did make it all feel a little businesslike which took away the joy a little.

Would we go back? Probably, depends on the rain ;)

Went for a 2 night stay as a group of 8 adults with 7 small children between us. Camped in the Corner Field. Loads of room and you can pitch how you like which was lovely. No restrictions on arrival time or leaving time on your booked days which is great.

A massive site, which was quite busy but stacks of room, especially for the kids to run around and play, a well stocked shop for basics (bread, milk, gas etc) and beer! Pizza, chips, pies, salad and kebabs available to order all day.

Hardly ever queued for the toilets - we had flushing ones in our field, but plenty of earth toilets etc dotted around too. The showers in the fields seemed busy but central reception area ones always seemed empty especially around 2pm.

The children enjoyed seeing the animals (puppies especially) and the goats that mooched around the fields.

Direct access via steps from the Beach Field (which has outstanding views of the sea) to a pebble beach.

Being able to do a camp fire was really brilliant, well worth buying a few bags of logs although there is a mountain of tree/hedge clippings to take and burn for free (but smoke a bit), very toasty in the evening. Lots of lanterns floating off into the night sky was lovely to see and also sold in the shop so well worth having a go.

Only real downside being difficult access - one single track road in and out with a couple passing places, just takes 1 car in and one car out to meet and it clogs while a bit of nifty manoeuvring without driving through a hedge is attempted, quite steep and we had a few hairy wheel-spinning moments on the chalky road when loaded up and leaving (we have Zafira), and this was a dry day.

Overall a very chilled and well thought out site, would definitely go back - would try a field with a sea view and stay for longer next time. It is clear a lot of effort is put in for the benefit of the campers for the 1 month a year it is open - makes you wonder how more fab it would be if open for a longer season.

An absolutely wonderful site that was a true camping experience!

I had never been to an 'eco-friendly' site before and wasn't sure what to expect, as I tend to like my creature comforts when camping. I cam away happily suprised.

The on site staff were knowledgeable and friendly, always able to point you in the right direction for any of your needs.

In our field there were a couple of compost toilets. I was expecting the worst of this as I had never used them before but it was clean, well stocked and actually smelt nice, which was thanks to the supply of wood shavings that were always stocked up. The solar showers were clean and tidy and surprisingly warm.

The children were able to play in the barns, amongst the straw and were kept amused for hours on end by this simple way of playing.

The shop was fabulous, stocking a good range of organic products.

We were able to do a lot of wandering around the area as there was so much to do. The beaches at Durdle Door were beautiful, as was Lulworth Cove. We also visited Monkey World which was a fantastic day out, enjoyed by both the adults and the kids. There is also a walk from the site down to a clean beach.

The site has a wonderful feel to it. You can buy hay bales to sit on or just to mark your pitch, and you can sell these bales back afterwards at a small loss. Camp fires are also allowed which means the long summer evenings can be enjoyed for that little bit longer.

A really good site for some back to basic camping.

Stayed in the Beach field which is right next to a path that takes you to a pebbly beach. The field is quite a slope but we were at the bottom which was flat. You are only allowed to bring your car on to this field to unload & load, then you have to park it in the field by reception, although some of the other fields you could keep your car with you.

The composting toilets were great, they were always spotlessly clean & used the solar powered showers which had lovely hot water.

There is an area with farm animals for the kids to go in & mine thought this was great, they also let the kids take a farm dog for a walk round the farm with the farmer which my little boy loved.

There is a shop on site selling food, drink & some camping spares & another place selling pizzas although we didn't try them.

We drove into Weymouth which wasn't very far & you can walk there from the site, its about 3miles.

The farm workers drove round every night selling hay bales for £3.00 which was a nice tough & made some good seating for round the camp fire.

Overall it was a very nice site with beautiful views of the coast & was very well run, I would like to visit again.

Campfires allowed, but gets very muddy in wet weather. Toilets are very basic & are just small sheds over a hole in the ground. Very overpriced, but incredible views over the sea. It's a large site, quite exposed to the weather, spread over 6 fields. Hay bales & firewood have to be purchased. Not a lot to do in bad weather. On site shop reasonable, hot showers available, but get busy. Overall site is overpriced & disappointing.
