What can I say but what an amazing campsite. A group of 20 of us went down and had an amazing time. There are a number of fields and the ones closer to the beach are car free. Facilities are good and had hot showers each day! Highly recommend this and the beach is lovely too! Will be back next year! The onsite shop sells enough beers and food to survive but weymouth for the big shops is only 20 minutes in the car. There is also a Spar and Co-op ia short drive away if you just want to collect a few items. Lots of animals around including adorable cats and dogs really lovely place to go for groups or families?

Just got back from a week on this gem of a site. We were a group of 8 people (aged 10 months to 63 years) in three tents.
The site is on a working organic farm and is only open for the month of August. Partly because it is purely a farm and not a campsite for 11 months of the year, and partly in keeping with the farm's eco ethic, the facilities tend towards the basic.
Access is down an unmade single track lane with passing places and across grass, and I could imagine difficulties in wet weather. There is also a height restriction (of 2.3 meters, I think), which is high enough for a standard car with a roofrack to pass underneath, but does not give space for a landrover with things on the roof. The barrier can be raised, however.
The site itself was much bigger than I was expecting, but this was not a problem, and it certainly felt family-friendly despite its size. It was not excessively noisy. I did hear people's voices after I had gone to bed, but they were far enough away that it was not intrusive. Officially, amplified music is not permitted. I did hear a few people playing music, but again this was not a problem.
There are 5 fields used for camping, 2 of which are on the cliff top, and which are kept car-free. Views are spectacular. Pitches are not marked, and we were able to choose where to put our tents and were able to camp altogether. Campfires are permitted, and certainly add to the ambience. Wood for these could be bought from the on site shop, or scavenged from the big pile of brushwood for free. There is very little level ground, though, and some of our party found that they kept rolling out of bed!
The majority of the toilets are earth closets in wooden sheds, which are (presumably) removed when not in use. In the main, they were kept clean and well stocked with loo paper, and did not smell excessively, however, there seemed to be quite a few people who could not bear to use this type who preferred to walk to the few permanent, flushing toilets on site, even if they were not located near their tents.
The showers are also housed in temporary blocks. The majority are heated by butane burners, although there are also some solar powered ones (which I never used so can't comment on them). The heated showers were usually warm, although if you chose the wrong shower, or went at a busy time of day they could be cold.
Drinking water points are frequent, although, depending on where people have put their tents, it could sometimes be difficult to get to them.
There are extensive facilities for recycling, although, judging by the contents of the skip provided for non-recyclable rubbish, this is not always as heavily used as it could be.
There is a shop on site, selling all the basics (largely organic produce) including the farm's own meat. In addition, there is a van selling woodfired pizzas, which were tasty and very much handmade, and another selling pies, chips and icecreams, and lending frozen ice blocks. Items did sell out, but were usually replaced the following morning.
The farm has its own beach (pebbly) and campers have use of this. Access to it is via a steep slope, with a rope fastened at the top to pull yourself up on. As I didn't feel confident climbing down this slope carrying a baby on my back (though plenty of other more sure-footed parents did take their babies down that way), I used the steps located about 1/2 a kilometre further east, accessible from the coastal path. This is certainly an alternative, although it does involve a longer walk.
There is plenty for families with young children to do in the area. We were there for a week and could have easily have filled 2. For example, the beach at Weymouth is sandy and good for sandcastle building, unlike the other beaches in the area which have pebbles. Lodmoor country park has lots to entertain kids, including the Sealife centre. Traffic through Weymouth itself tended to be very heavy, although it was possible to park when you'd finally got to where you were going. Dorchester has a huge number of museums. Be aware, though, that Wednesday is market day in Dorchester. We were completely unable to park when we visited there on a Wednesday.
Altogether, I would recommend this site to people wanting to camp in a place with an ecological outlook and beautiful scenery. It is not for people who expect extensive facilities.

What a lovely site. Loads of space, facilities basic (compost toilets and wooden shower huts) but everything clean and a bonus is that the hot showers are free and there were no queues when we were there. The camp shop is well stocked with organic produce and cold beers etc and you can buy organic wood fired pizzas or pies and chips from one of the vans stationed in the centre of the site.
The site is located on the cliff top a few miles from Weymouth on the south west Coastal path. There is access to a secluded shingle beach from two points in the site and more good beaches along the coast
In the evenings you are allowed to have an open fire. There is plenty of free firewood dotted around the site or you can purchase a bag of firewood from the shop. A nice touch is straw bales which are available to use as seating around your fire. These can also be purchased at the shop for a couple of pounds and dropped off at your pitch for you.
Highly recommended. A shame it's only open for 1 month a year!

We have just returned from a fantastic 6 day visit to Eweleaze Farm. The real bonus was nice weather for the majority of our stay.
Don't be under any illusions this campsite is huge and busy. Pitches that have a sea view are very sort after, and though we looked at them it was really very crowded, so we opted for the Chicken Field which was reasonably flat and a little more protected. It also had good access to loos, showers (hot and clean) and sinks (cold water).
The shop was a real bonus that stocked all the necessities but beware long queues and a bit pricey (take your own bags). Pizza van, chip shop and wood pile were great, and night time camp fires had our children mesmerised as did the lovely animals that the kids can play with. The lanterns going up into the night sky is wonderful and you realise why you've opted for camping.
The beach (pebble) is a wonderful plus but heading East to Studland Bay and Knowle Beach is well worth the 45 mins car journey, we spent hours on these 2 beaches.
Two grumbles; where we were, there are no sinks to wash/brush teeth in, you share the sinks that people are washing dishes in. Use your own bowl to wash in, by your tent, and make do (I can't vouch for other fields). It is 50p per ice pack exchange, which really mounts up over a week when you are exchanging 4 per day. At £48 for us on Friday night ( £24 for the rest of the week) we thought this was a bit much.
Not a grumble, but an observation, the campsite is fairly easy to get around in a car, but the very narrow access road to and from the main road to the campsite is really very steep, we had good weather but I realise what people are writing about, in wet weather it must be a bit scary. However we were discussing getting out with a trailer and one of the staff at the Farm offered to take the trailer up for us, so I think there would be plenty of help if you asked for it.
We were recommended The Smugglers Inn for a bite to eat, don't bother, the food was terrible, but the pub was really pretty, just have a pint and eat somewhere else.
We would come back here again without a doubt the atmosphere was great and our 4 kids loved it.

My young family (+ 4/5 other similar) have camped as a group here the last 2 summers.
It is a very popular camp but as a large site we have always been able to find a good pitch, the fields look great and the coast and the sea-views are fantastic.
Facilities are good, especially considering the eco-philosophy, the loos are fine (far better than many a porter-loo), the warmth of showers (solar)are a bit hit and miss.
The shop and food are good quality, for which you (not unreasonably) pay.
The beach is pebble and it is a scrabble down, but we found it do-able with young children/babies. Good swimming, and caught a couple of mackerel.
Staff are excellent, helpful and into the spirit of the thing. On our last visit we had very high winds, staff put themselves out to help campers through it.
Our young children loved it, and we were confident to let them roam-off, as a pack, round the field with their new friends.
For me, Eweleaze is the right mix of back to nature and a fun social holiday.
Highly recommended.

First the positives: a good atmosphere amongst the fellow campers during a wet 5 day stay. Stunning location and sea views, having it's own organic shop and pebble beach 10 minutes away. The solar powered showers were fantastic
Now the negatives; a chaotic booking system, although I understand this was due to it's popularity and the campsite is only open in August.
The owner and staff were rather sarcastic and didn't offer any solutions to the very muddy roads which became a real obstacle, despite having a shed full of wood chippings. The overpriced veg pies (£3.50) were all pastry. The 1 KM single track access road was a nightmare. All in all we will not return

Had a great week with camp fires every night. There are loads of fields and you can stay in the 'quiet' field if you choose - we did as we have children and it was so great. Lovely friendly atmosphere and it's own beach too. Very good for environmentalists as they have compost loos and solar showers. Plenty of room for children to play safely. The village down the road has basic necessities and a good fish and chip shop! Enjoy.

We stayed at this site with a group of friends for two nights. Allowed to pitch where ever we wanted and plenty of free wood available for campfires. Toilets and showers were very clean, looked brand new and we didn't have to queue too often. Close to Lulworth Cove which is well worth a visit. Only downside to the site was the very steep, narrow roads. We had rain of an evening on both nights and the site became very muddy resulting in rather scarey driving conditions, better if you have a 4x4!

What a great, great progressive eco campsite! We truly loved our stay here despite the gale force 7-8 winds we experienced.
This is camping as it should be; lots of space, camp fires allowed, ducks & chickens roaming, barns full of hay to sit & play in, an imaginative shop stocked with local organic products & good chilled beers & ciders, a wood fired pizza hut, great walking & beaches. The list goes on and on.
Thankfully lacking in any more but the basic (common sense) rules it really allows a sense of freedom and getting back to nature. It's quirky but that's what makes it SOOOOO GOOD.
Adults get away from the stress of UK urban living and kids have a terrific time. It really seemed to open up kid's imaginations. Amazing how they gravitated to the hay bales and played there all day, making loads of friends as well.
Also, it's so social. People just seem to talk to each other and help out.
Our dog Joy has terrible post holiday blues now that we're back in London!
Sad but understandable that it is only open one month a year.
I really need to get back next year.

Another great trip to Eweleaze, everywhere else in the uk seemed to be wet and overcast, but we had great weather, the joy of being so close to the sea
Peter and co. have put a lot of work into the composting loos and other facilities,(remember this is a working farm not a typical campsite)
The 'no amplified music rule works well' (we had a great time playing our instruments without the need to have the car doors open and stereo blasting)
Topped of with the open camp fire to see us in to the wee hours. (there was a huge pile of tree clippings, but found a better quality of wood 5 mins down the road in a roadside woodland with tonnes of fallen and dead trees)
The sight of many tissue hot air balloons drifting over the bay was great, just hope the wire in them decomposes quickly in the salt water.
Highly recommend the the Smugglers inn down the road at Osmington mills
All in all, great few days away, apart from the typical rain storm the second we broke camp, but thats not the sites fault
