I have scrapped 2 reviews that I have penned as I can't quite put my finger on this site and I don't want to be unfair. We normally just go to Caravan Club sites but I read the reviews and booked to go to this site as it was a last minute chance to go away. I would normally try and steer clear of sites with Clubhouses as we have 2 young boys and we have had trouble getting them to sleep on noisier camps.

The site has an amazing location right behind the Abbey and as everyone else says you could easily walk into Whitby which is a big plus as it's a nightmare place to park. The staff were friendly and helpful, the pitches of a good size and it had a good play area even for toddlers. It has a remote beach you can get to by means of a fairly rough track so you don't have to get in the car to go into Whitby.

On the down side the toilets were a bit of a let down quite  grubby and the showers you had to keep your hand pressed on the button to get water which I must say was boiling - don't know if this is a water saving policy ! We couldn't shower the kids as it was physically too hot for them. Also why clean out the Showers/toilets at 9.00 am? The pitch fee of £23 a night was steep I guess this subsidises the Clubhouse entertainment.

The camp certainly appears to have a lot of repeat customers not necessarily with a seasonal pitch but that made it feel a bit like we were on their turf, didn't have the feel of a Caravan club site where everyone acknowledges one another and you have a bit of friendly banter.

I would say if you were a family with kids aged 10 plus then this site would be fine, if you however are maybe looking for a bit of peace and quiet with good facilities but no bar this may not be for you.

Just returned after a weekend stay at this site and we had a fantastic time! The site is easily accessible and only a 15-20min walk to Whitby. All the staff are very pleasant and helpful. The shop is well stocked and you can find everything you need on site(food, gas, newspapers). My only negative comment is that the toilet/shower block is a little tatty and dated, but having said that it is kept spotless! Whitby is a great place to visit, there's plenty to see and do, you'll never get bored. I would recommend Whitby and this site to anybody and we'll be returning before the end of summer for sure. (simply because the club house serves the best pint of John Smiths in the country!)

This is a good campsite to visit whitby & within walking distance along a clifftop pathway (20-30 minute walk).
The campsite has a shop, cafe & bar with entertainment & bingo.
The toilets are clean & warm but there is only one block which could be a problem in the busy summer period.
The pitches are all grass & 70% are on a slope due to the site being on the clifftop, it could be a problem getting on or off the pitches in wetter periods of the year due to the slope of the site.
Most pitches on the site has beautiful sea views & also of Whitby Abbey.
We had a great weekend & would definately return to this site.

We visited Whitby Caravan Park over the Easter Break based on the positive reviews listed here. At 23.00 per night it certainly wasn't the cheapest site - and following the visit, seemed even less value for money!

The site is perched on the cliff tops of saltwick bay with lovely views and within excellent walking distance to Whitby. The site is open access (no security barrier) as are the toilets/showers - a bit scary first thing in the morning when not many folk are around as anyone could just walk in while you are taking a shower. Showering was an experience -  either scalding hot or freezing cold (no temperature control), depending on which cubicle you went in! One morning a woman with a small child was literally 'shower hopping' trying to get a cubicle with an acceptable temperature.

The site was undergoing refurbishment hence - no kids play area, dug up fields with surrounding security tape and absolutley no literature on arrival at Reception about the sight.  The waste disposal area is next to the fresh water - which my husband complained about to the site itself.  I would suggest the site reduce the rates per night to attract custom until it sorts itself out.

Back again for the whit weekend. Another great weekend here. Nice weather although very windy, so do take care as we all got burnt. Very expensive at £23.00 with no awning or electric but this was to cover for the fantastic entertainment. Singer one night then 70's fancy dress. Parking was a nightmare in Whitby so much easier to take the cliff top path. Theres a big Sunday morning car boot just outside Whitby which we went to. At only 1hour away from home think we'll definately be back.

We loved this site. Pitched right next to the adventure play, so children can be watched safely. Great club house. Lets hope the 'young lad' is still dj'ing. He is marvellous with the kids (conga, agadoo, etc). Kids loved the cheesy disco. Separate adults only room. (if your not up to black lace)
10 minute walk into whitby.
Toilets could do with some maintenance.
Small cafe.
Looking forward to going back.

We had a really good time at this site. We pitched over looking the bay and the grass was good and the tent pegs went in easy. Toilets and showers were clean and tidy and the clubhouse served a fine pint of Tetley for £1.98.

Whitby is about 20 minutes walk away on the coastpath and the best fish and chips I've had for ages.

First review ever from me but had such a great time at this site I just had to let everyone know how good it is. It actually hardly ever stopped raining during our stay but the cliff top location so close to Whitby itself made for one of the best week-ends ever. Staff are friendly and helpful, toilet facilities are superb and three cheers for the idea of paying a key deposit to ensure site folks only get to use them!!. Ideal for kids as entertainment is provided every day but the club has seperate "no children" areas too. Can't wait to re-visit.

A very nice site, if a little windswept! They welcome dogs, as long as they are not on their breed blacklist, which includes GSDs, Dobermanns and Rottweilers.
The shop is good, the showers are hot, and the staff friendly. There is a secluded beach with a footpath down from the site, although it is pretty tough going and only for the fit!
There is a disabled toilet AND shower! There are quite a few statics about, quite a few people with dogs and a small cafe. I'd go back.

Great location for Whitby and surrounding areas. Unfortunately found the camping field over crowded, toilets were smelly and also over crowded (gents) and at the cost of £3 for a key to access them, on top of the £18 per tent per night, it just wasn't good enough. Have been to far better sites where facilities are free.
