This site was our destination for our maiden voyage and what a lovely site it is. Because it was the school holidays and we booked it quite late, we were limited to what pitch we got. We were given pitch 9, which is right next to the children's playground. This turned out to be our saviour, this time, as our 10 year old boy could play whilst we got things set up. The pitches on this row aren't very level (the other rows do seem less sloping) so levelling ramps were required. Booking in advance was easy and after the first night, we booked an additional night. The warden and all the staff were friendly. £10 deposit was required for one toilet block key on arrival. The facilities were very clean, the showers were push button operative which some people may find annoying but I think it stops people from hogging the showers. Although the site was busy we never had to wait for the showers. The site has a great little cafe that serves food all day (don't know if this is the same in Low season) Had a full English breakfast one morning, which was very nice. They also do a pizza takeaway service which is very good.

The footpath along the cliff top takes you to the Whitby abbey and the 199 steps. It took us about 25 minutes to walk it but we do have 3 kids (16, 13 & 10) and two French Bulldogs (that loved all the new smells!)

We can recommend the Ghost walk, that starts at 8pm in the market square, as a good way of passing an hour. The gentleman that does it, is a good story teller.

The footpath on the site that goes in the opposite direction takes you down some steep steps to Saltwick bay, which is a small and private beach. There is also another path, signposted Robin Hood's bay 5 miles, the man in the site shop said it was more like 6. 5 miles so we didn't attempt it this time.

The site shop is well stocked - newspapers, magazines, sweets, groceries, small selection of alcohol. There is also a Family Club but we didn't go in there so can not comment on it.

We will definitely return to this site in the future

tried this site for a weekend. Staff were all friendly, site was well kept, showers clean and hot.

Well stocked shop, pub on site, cafe on site which is open to non residents as the coastal path runs through the site. Cafe had a good choice of food at good prices.

Site is on the cliff top with the Abbey in the distance approx 3/4 mile away.

I would use site again if visiting Yorkshire again for a weekend.

Just had easter break here, been and reviewed before and it is just as good as ever. Very clean and friendly and they now have a proper motorhome service point (probably fed up with people draining their grey water along the access road)

Site is always being improved as shown by the new reception. The only complaint that I ever had was that the toilet disposal and fresh water were at the same point and lo and behold now they are completely separate

Well done WHP

Just returned home after two nights stay here. We parked on one of the four new hard standing motorhome pitches these were very good, convenient for shower block etc. The only drawback was that we were told they are level, they aren't, were told to reverse on but needed to pull in and use levelers to get anywhere near the level needed.

The toilets and showers were very good, cleaned regularly ( in fact every time I visited them the cleaner was in cleaning or just leaving!). The showers were hot and fairly easy to use, push button controlled, could have done with somewhere to sit to finish dressing if you were infirm but fine for able bodied.

Booking in process was fast and efficient, wifi worked well ( remember to ask for code when booking in), there is a deposit of £10 required for key to toilets etc but that's returned when you give key back in.

The shop wasn't open yet as season not started but club house was open. The club house was fine, drinks ok and not over priced. It wasn't too busy but I expect that changes during busy seasons.

We had our dog with us and as stated previously although welcome on site not welcome in club house.

We walked the cliff path to Whitby twice with the dog, this is a good steady walk and brings you to the Abbey where you have to walk the 199 steps down or the donkey road ( I wouldn't advise the donkey road to come back up or at all if wet!). The climb back up the steps is a pull but manageable with several seats to rest if required then back along the cliff path. If you don't like heights the cliff path is close to the edge at times but my husband managed ok despite fearing heights. There are lots of taxis available in whitby and reception will give you a list if necessary, these will take you back to site if climb is too much for you!

We also took the path from the site down to the beach, again loads of steps and very steep but the beach is deserted and great for dog walking.

Would probably return but not in high season as we like peace and quiet which we got at this time of year.

We have stayed at this site 4 times previously, but each time much earlier in the season so the bar not usually been open. On this occasion we visited early july with friends, and were treated to some great weather. The first night we thought it would be nice to sit in the garden at the rear of the club, only to be told we could not go through the club with the dogs. This is the only way to the garden I was informed. When I asked the gentleman behind the bar (who was by the way very rude)what we were supposed to do, he said we should take our drinks out front. There were six of us and two chairs. While we STOOD outside with our drinks we were treated to the site of a group of children kicking a football at surrounding caravans. I have always found the people on reception, in the shop, and the wardens friedly and helpful, only takes one unhelpful and rude person to spoil the reputation. I pay extra for my dog and expect to be able to use the facilities provided. This wont stop me visiting again because it has many good points, but have to agree with some of the reviews about standards for the price paid

Lovely site good location with sea views, friendly club only stayed midweek so no evening entertainment, nice walk into whitby plenty of dog walking so ideal for those with dogs. Toilets were very clean only 1 little snag the showers were not warm enough for me will definitely return and recommend to all.

It wasn't a surprise on our arrival as I was told on booking there was a £10 deposit for the toilet/shower key and our pitch was quite unlevel.

We were shown to our pitch on a Hill and it took quite some time to get the jockey wheel down to the floor and get the van level raising the back end using blocks of wood provided by the site near the site wardens caravan.

This site is great for the kids as the cliff top is fenced off securely, kids went off to play play area but unfortunately were put off by other kids swearing and not letting others play.

We walked the cliff top into Whitby and got fish n chips (watch out for the electric fences with the kids) then went crabbing with fishing lines off the harbour wall.

The cliff path down from the campsite is great for rock pooling but watch the tide coming in.

The on site shop didn't stock much, there is a cafe, family clubhouse and amusement on site but the clubhouse was closed when we went for a look so drove into Whitby to play in the amusements.

The showers and toilets were ok and clean.

Overall we liked the site and would visit again as access to Whitby was ideal.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay on a cliff top touring pitch at Whitby holiday park.

The views are spectacular and the site is very well presented.

It is a little on the expensive side but the facilities are good. A little café and a clubhouse that accommodates families. There is a nice kids play area and a friendly atmosphere all round.

The showers are ok but a raised area or more hooks needed for clothes as you tend to have to put your clothes on the floor while you shower and they are the silly push button type that give you a 30 second blast if you are lucky but that is commonplace.

The walk into Whitby itself is lovely but a bit uneven in places and I imagine on a day of bad weather quite bleak but luckily for us the weather was fine and the walk great.

The stumbling block for us returning is we tend to go away in a group and some of our party have a tent which for one reason or another this site does not allow.

Overall though very, very good.

We stayed here for a weekend in late March in a motorhome.

The charge for me, the wife and a small dog was £21 per night and this included 16 amp electric hook up and WIFI. As it was a quiet time of the year we were fortunate to get a pitch right on the cliff top with a sea view, but I would imagine these pitches go quickly at busy times.

On arrival we were given a warm welcome and shown to our pitch and explained where everything is. There is a £10 refundable deposit for the toilets and shower key.

The site has a bar, café, grocery shop, launderette and kids play area. We were expecting a noisy site, but in fact the site was very quiet and peaceful, perhaps because it was low season. We didn’t see any tents there and perhaps they are not allowed as their website makes no mention of them.

The toilet and shower block was modern and clean. It was nice that the central heating was turned on. Lack of space/ hooks to hang clothes up was the only minor issue here.

We like the location of the site. From the site you can walk down some steps down the cliff to a dog friendly beach (steps near site entrance).

To get to Whitby is about a 20 minute walk along the cliff top, get to the abbey then go down the 199 steps starting at the old graveyard. At the bottom of the steps you will find Whitby. To get back on both evenings we got a taxi. Taxis were easy to find (if stuck head for the train station), didn’t mind taking our small dog and charged £6 -£7. Near the train station there is a large Co-op supermarket where we stocked up on food and booze before getting straight in a taxi.

We found plenty of things to see and do in Whitby. All the pubs are dog friendly and are of the traditional type where I felt most comfortable drinking real ale.

Anyhow, back to the site. Check out was (a slightly too early) 10 am. Plenty of places to refill with water and empty the loo. Large fenced off bin area for the rubbish / recyclables.

Overall a fantastic site. Slightly on the expensive side, but if you want a great location, free WIFI and the other facilities this is the going rate. We will certainly return.
