This is a great site in a great location. It was so beautiful waking up beside the canal a and really reasonable price. It was Wendy the manager who made our stay so special. She couldn't do enough for two weary cyclists. We arrived after the kitchen had closed but she still found time to make us a meal. I would recommend you make a point of staying here.

Just returned from a fantastic weekend away at this site. Everybody was very friendly and nothing too much trouble. The site is clean and the location is wonderful. The site is in between 2 villages, Linton and Newton, Newton on Ouse has a couple of lovely pubs and you can walk here in 15 mins. The Lock House on the site is very quaint serving drinks and food and so you wouldn't have to leave the site if you didn't want to. Would recommend to anybody wanting a chilled out yet fun weekend.

This was our first visit to Linton, and we can really say we had a great relaxing time just what we wanted. Peaceful lovely view of the river and nice to have a look at some boats. We have to say the pub/cafe bar is very friendly with the manager Wendy and her little helper Amy were brilliant company and we had a great time with them as they made us very welcome. Plus she can cook too. ! Ooh and enjoy themselves with all the customers. Will be returning without a doubt. Try it you will get a nice surprise. Ooh and Paul and Steve were very helpful too and friendly. Jackie - Steve

Just returned From Linton lock, been visiting this for a couple of years and it has improved steadily year on year. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel very welcome. The views across the river and towards the lock are fantastic. The pub on-site is family friendly and has a great atmosphere were everyone talks to each other even complete strangers, we did not eat here on this occasion but the food looked fantastic and the comments made by those who did eat were very complimentary.
There is short walk into Linton where there is a small shop and decent children's play park or walk along the river into Newton where there are a couple of pubs The Blacksmiths being our preferred choice.

Just arrived home from our 4th visit to this camp site
That line should say it all
We have booked our next stay too
There are many reasons for this, the lovely river view, the peace and quietness of the site and surrounding fields, the friendly staff are to name but a few
I have no hesitation in recommending this site to anyone
The local village has pubs and they all serve food as does the bar/restaurant on the site
There is also a play ground in the village which is a short walk from the site
Linton lock marina is positioned well for trips into York Or Thirsk too

Just back from another great weekend at this campsite. Thanks to the owners for being such great hosts and making sure we have everything we needed. We visit here often and enjoy the walks along the river with our dog. There is a couple of pubs in the local villages to try out but not forgetting the Lock House on the campsite with a very reasonable bar tariff and great homecooked food! The campsite and toilet blocks are always very clean and tidy and was very surprised to see that the showers have now been reduced from £1 to 50p, not often prices go down in this day and age!
We are planning a weeks stay later in the year so we can explore York which is not too far away.

Just like to say second visit this year and love the place. seems popular as always need to book in advance and the site is always tidy. there is nice views towards the river especially if your not bothered about electric hook ups. The owner and his staff very friendly and helpful. lovely walks both ways along the river which our dogs loved. There have been some comments about the toilet facilities which are probably a 100mtrs or so away from some of the pitches, we didn't find this too bad, but the owner did say he was looking into another Toilet block. Wendy at the Linton Lock cafe/pub is brilliant, can't do enough for you, the Beers are good value and the food is second to none as well all home cooked not your frozen rubbish, but word of warning if you want a meal make sure you book as is always packed out and the Saturday night quiz is a laugh there, all in all a lovely place especially if you want to be surrounded by nature and keep a look out for the Otter.

I feel this campsite is some what dated it kind of looks after itself! not quite as is shown on the photos to get the view you have to walk along the river bank which was lovely but wish I could say the same for our long weekend!
The facility's- toilet block/very basic felt it was to long of a walk from both fields very dark at night, could do with another toiler/shower block at least. Pot washing one very well warn Belfast sink no draining board as such just a wooden lat! not cleaned regularly, little hot water.
The pitch sizes are far to small as we found after the 1st night couldn't even park our car near to the tent, in stead of a relaxing riverside view felt more like jamboree!some pitched with little consideration for others this ended up very unorganized the noise of children got louder as the night went on didn't quieten down until gone midnight lack of any management was obvious, there time was spent running the pub which was very nice but feel this site is very run down needs better organizing when people book they should pay more attention to sizes etc it clearly didn't work which is a real shame as it could be a lovely site.
Value for money- far to expensive- paying the extra cost for a pitch with EHU is usual but shouldn't charge extra for electricity used and showers at £1 for 20 mins, Only two in the gents/female for the whole site.
Was told the food in the pub was very good we didn't try it and wont be returning.

We stayed here a few weeks ago and will probably return, notwithstanding having a few reservations.
It had apparently rained prior to our arrival and as a consequence the river Ouse was in flood. We live next to river ourselves; hence we appreciate this produces increased noise levels. What we didn't expect however was the roaring waterfall and the constant whine from the Archimedes screw turbine, both of which were next to the lock.
This noise is beyond the control of the owners, and it will not affect our ranking, but light sleepers may wish to be aware of the possibility of it happening following wet weather. I spent the first night dreaming that I was at the bottom of the aeroplane steps waiting to board whilst the jet engines warmed up. Thankfully, by the second night the river had abated, and the noise, whilst still present, was much less of an issue.
Our only quibble about the site itself is that they chose to close the toilets for cleaning before mid morning. Mrs Sool likes to take her time getting started when we're away, and found the facilities were temporarily out of action by the time she got up, which she found rather irritating.
The toilets and showers were however immaculate.
The owners were friendly and the associate pub and dining facilities looked good. One of our neighbours had eaten in regularly and recommended it by saying 'Boy, that woman certainly knows how to cook!'
The lock was interesting to see in action and quite a few boats passed through during our stay. We had hoped to be able to walk along the river beyond the lock, but the signs all suggested that this was out of bounds unfortunately.

Just returned from a short 3 night stay over the may day bank holiday. You will find it hard to find a site in a better location. We had a pitch over looking the river and the lock. Lovely peaceful campsite and the toilets were clean and modern. There is two toilets and showers and we did not have to queue once. You need a key code for the toilets but its easy to remember. There's a small cafe and bar by the lock. We had lunch before we left, sandwiches, chips and a jacket potatoes. Reasonably priced and lovely. The evening menu is not extensive but it is a cafe.
We paid 18 a night for a family of four with a dog!. We used less than 1. 00 of electricity a day and we had a fan heater, coolbox, and phone chargers. You do have to pay for the showers but when you are paying 18 a night who cares.
I only have one fault with the site and that's the washing up facilities. There's only one Belfast sink without a plug so take a bowl with you. The hot water does not run for long so we got hot water from the ladies toilets. If they better facilities for washing up this would be one of my favourite sites, but if you have a caravan it would not be a problem.
There are some lovely riverside walks from the sites to nice villages with great pubs. You could sit by your tent and watch the boats if you wanted.
For what we paid this is a fab site and we will be going back.
