Lovely little site. Very laid back with no long list of rules. That said, we didn’t have any issues so clearly people using the site know how to behave!
Nice walk along the river towards Beningbrough Hall.
Owners were extremely helpful & friendly. Had a very nice meal in their on site pub one night.
Toilets & showers are adequate but perhaps could be cleaned a little more - that’s mostly down to other campers not being as respectful as they should be.
Would definitely stay again.

Great communication with Wendy and Carl via email for booking, and also via telephone when I called to ask if we could bring two vehicles as packing was proving tricky, very helpful and friendly on the phone.
On arrival we received a very friendly welcome and directed to our pitch. What a fab pitch it was, nicely tucked away in the corner (just what we like) with trees behind and a view of the river (and what seemed to be the resident heron!)
A highlight for our boys (and us!) was sitting outside the lock house watching boats go through the lock and off down the river.
So many friendly people always happy to chat and one family let my youngest help operate the lock then ride through on his boat which absolutely made his day!
Great location for accessing York and lovely walks along the river bank too.
My only small issue was the cleanliness of the shower / toilet block, could have been better monitored maybe, unless we just hit it at the wrong time each day! But I appreciate this is tricky when you have so many people using each day, we just cleaned up after ourselves each time, but don't think many other people did!
Overall a great site in a fab location, I am sure we will return!

Meal from the pub were excellent and not to expensive, our pitch was spacious, the site filled up at the weekend but most were there to fish in the lock area,
The so called road into the site was a real bone shaker,
Only one male toilet and two showers at 50p a time, but looked like a new coat of paint had been applied, my wife told me her showers block and toilets were filthy,
Our pitch at the far end of the site was a good walk to the chemical disposal point, but not to far for fresh water,
Wendy is more into the pub and it appears the caravan site come second best to me

The campsite was lovely for our first time camping!
The pitches were spacious enough for our berghaus 6xl air tent and car so plenty of room! Easy to find and very friendly staff.
The other campers were also really friendly and the pub on site had a lovely atmosphere. We would 100% stay again.
Phone signal was great all weekend (with virgin mobile)

This was wonderful. Very peaceful and also interesting location, next to the river / marina / lock. There is a separate field for tourer caravans, another for small tents and an EHU field for campervans / motorhomes etc.
Very friendly and helpful manager and staff in the pub with food on offer at specific times (though mostly needing to book) and fun quiz on Saturday night.
50p pieces needed for showers which were clean and fine.
You can also launch kayaks etc.
No problems other than you need to ask about pub times and camping charges - there is a board with info but it's at the very start of the drive where you drive in.

Fantastic welcome from Wendy 👍, Gary sorted out a hard standing pitch due to the wet conditions when we arrived.
Bus stop right on the doorstep so lovely journey into York.
Fantastic food and very friendly locals.
We will definitely be back 💕👍
