Only camp here if you are a mountain goat! The site is on the side of a hill and flat pitches are a rarity. We counted a total of 4 flat pitches in amongst the caravans which mostly were perched on several breeze blocks to level them off! The dedicated tent field was a slope of 30 degrees! Summary - probably OK for caravans but go elsewhere if you're in a tent.

We found this site after looking at all of the others on the I.O.Purbeck last year (we had almost given up hope, especially after seeing some of the other tents squashed into field that certainly broke fire regulations, other sites looked like a cheap buck for land owners with clearly no investment in shower blocks!!) and it is without doubt, the best one in the area.
During the 10 days that we stayed, there was plenty of space (except one bank holiday weekend) and the crucial thing to young families, the toilet block is brand new and clean. There's the choice of: cover of tress or in the open field. There's a no-noise policy late evening (10pm?) and if you want to bring stereos and be selfish to other campers, I would kindly suggest that you go to another campsite. Great for walking, Studland beach is 10 mins by car (or 1/2 bike ride away & Corfe Castle Village is only 5-10 minutes walk. Load to do with kids.
This comes from a family that expects high standards (yes even whilst camping!)and that wants to enjoy their holiday. Thoroughly recommended - we're certainly heading back down in August.

Was originally aiming for Toms Field but we were late and they were full. Found Woodland completely by accident but were very glad we did. As a late arrival you pick your own pitch and settle up in the morning. The site is a reasonable size with plenty of open space and secluded woodland corners. Nicely laid out, very much like Forestry Commision sites. Not overdevloped and very tranquil.
Toilet block was excellent, free hot showers (not coins or tokens!!)Free hot wash up area with plenty of space. Free spin dryer for those 'British' days. Shop with basic provisions, bread, milk, camping gas etc. Highly recomended.

Excellent, peaceful site in a woodland setting. The toilet / shower block is extremely modern and clean. The proprietors are very friendly and helpful. An ideal base for visiting the Purbeck area. As well as the pubs in Corfe there is The New Inn at Church Knowle which serves good beer and excellent food. For barbeques the traditional family butchers in Corfe who, for such a small shop, sell a surprisingly large range of fresh meat and poultry are well worth a visit.

August 2004 Was a lovely friendly site and not too muddy over the bank holiday. Very informal friendly atmosphere and top location.
I have already recommended it and will do so again.

August 2004 New facilities very good. A little self help with long handled squidjy while waiting for shower showed how easy a little thought can improve things on a site suffering from haevy rain. Beautiful day at Swanage via steam railway (has an evening diesel service in high season). Turn left out of camp site for very pleasent walk to Corfe (there is a gate also from top of field). Owner suggested Inn in village away from Corfe (should be able to walk along tracks as we saw same destination from village). Food looked very good, but having eaten at lunchtime we only had a beer at the bar, all the tables appeared to be occupied by diners.

August 2003 and July 2004 Despite there being considerable rain on both our visits, this site has impressed us. Firstly there is a certain informality, you turn up, pick a spot and pitch. None of this business of not being able to choose or even view the pitch. Its fairly priced. The views are really very impressive and the proximaty of sizeable towns for sightseeing and shopping make it very convenient. A fifteen minute walk along a nearby footpath takes you into Corfe which has excellent traditional pubs, some with gardens looking over to the castle. The shower, toilet block has been refurbished (rebuilt actually) and is now really high tech and modern. Well worth a visit for a quiet relaxing break (but watch the weather forecast).

May 2003 We have been to this site many times since 1986. It is a very sheltered, quiet and secluded site. This is a site not for loud music or parties or clubbing. If you want to be amongst the wildife and have immediate access to walking amongst the Purbeck Hills, its great. With a small playground for young children, it is a super site for young families and you are 15 mins away from Swanage or Wareham for shops, restaurants. The village of Corfe is within strolling distance and is good for family eating and the bar in the evening. Try and get there when the beer festival is on at the pub on the square! Take a torch for when you return to the site - it is very dark and the castle can be a tad spooky after a few cheeky ones! The loo block is clean and we heard is up for refurbishment later in the 2003 season. A shop is open twice a day and there is a phone box next to the office. We love it, which is why we go back so regularly.

July 2003 Popped in to this site on a rainy day. Pleasant spacious site with quite a few secluded spaces. Wooded site, with different fields linked together. Quite a few caravans on site : several looked as though they were permanent fixtures. Facilities very basic. Little shop on site, read delivery daily. Central position, but could see no pubs close by. On Corfe castle/kimmeridge road.

This is a lovely little campsite set in a open woodland surrounding, used in war as anti aircraft battery. Also BBC comedy/drama Nuts in May filmed there in 1970s
Small shop on site as well as toilets, showers, drying room. The facilities here are basic but good enough as long as your not after luxury.
Kids tend to love it though, run by a friendly family, and if you like horse riding theres a school on site so have an hours treck through the purbeck hills.
If I had to rate this site i'd say facilities 5/10 setting 11/10.
